Bluetintedspecs Posted 10 April 2016 Posted 10 April 2016 Open season on Mahrez today ? P.S.: To the many Haters, don't worry: he is not staying. I also get frustrated at some of the kneejerk crap spouted on here, however, that is a big statement, would you care to elaborate?
ScouseFox Posted 10 April 2016 Posted 10 April 2016 Josh Low was quality, how dare you tbf saying mahrez was like josh low today is probably an insult to josh low, he was rarely that bad
Babylon Posted 10 April 2016 Posted 10 April 2016 No one needs no one on a public forum. But, you seem to need those who think like you. Since you seem to show interest in my membership, let me honestly tell you why I came on this forum. In fact, it was not because of Mahrez. I was attracted by the underdog story of LCFC. I was indeed rooting for the team. I woke up very early mornings (in Western Canada) on Saturdays and Sundays to watch the games. I loved Vardy, Ranieri, Kante, Drinkwater and practically the whole team. I watched the NBC story.I even watched Rachel on Countdown for God's sake. The thing is that as I was getting familiar with the posts and posters, I sensed a double standard being applied to Mahrez and his Algerian fans. Mahrez has a unique way to play the game. He looks clumsy most of the time but it is that unpredictable madness in him that makes him interesting. So, many posters are quick to put him down, much quicker than toward other players. Indeed, some posters are constantly puttiing him down thinking it is the popular thing to do. People (LCFC fans) suggested that he should not get the PFA Player of the year (LCFC fans saying that ??!!). Some others saying they don't mind seeing him leave if other players stay (LCFC fans saying that ??!!). My angry post today was a mere reaction. I wish Mahrez and any other player for that matter get treated fairly. That is all. Not sure we need lecturing on his style of play, we've been watching him for two and a half years. We know how he plays and what he's capable of, today and against Southampton he was rubbish... That's just s fact. People do not have it in for one of our best players, there is no reason to. He's one of the reasons we are here... But his stinkers tend to stand out more than others, because he doesn't make up for it with graft, like say Albrighton does if he's playing crap.
Dr The Singh Posted 10 April 2016 Posted 10 April 2016 tbf saying mahrez was like josh low today is probably an insult to josh low, he was rarely that badTbf, Josh Low would love to be compared with Mahrez in anyway and take it as a compliment. Personally I thought Mahrez played like Trev Benjimen
Saxondale Posted 10 April 2016 Posted 10 April 2016 Class performance today. Kante is an actual god. Best CM in the league - possibly the world currently.
EGBFitness Posted 10 April 2016 Posted 10 April 2016 Anyone judging any players performances is a joke tbh! Mahrez has been beyond exceptional all season! If he doesn't win PFA players players or something it's a joke! It has been a very long time I have felt the need to really criticise a players performances - Konchesky? Schwarzer? Some players are going to have more impact in a game than others at different stages of the season - this is why it's a TEAM game! Luckily for us we have a solid foundation of players who work for each other. Maybe it was how Sunderland set up, not match fit or quite simply an off day but you can guarantee he will be out to have more impact against West Ham and with everything he has contributed to this season surely even as a fan you can accept he will not out perform every player on the pitch week in/ week out. Yes he wasn't at his best today but I felt in no way to criticise him or assume it meant he was on his way out the club

Some others saying they don't mind seeing him leave if other players stay (LCFC fans saying that ??!!). My angry post today was a mere reaction. I wish Mahrez and any other player for that matter get treated fairly. That is all. I think part of your problem is down to at least two factors: First of all, you seem to have a somewhat limited grasp of English, hence making over-the-top statements, such as calling people who are criticizing Mahrez "haters" (which is, I assume, probably a West Coast term that can be as bad as you like it to be, anyway) and making basic errors in writing. I suppose you're rather young - teenager? Second, you have a limited grasp of this messageboard and are quick to judge both lifelong fans and established posters on their most recent comments. Even today, you fail badly to paint the whole picture, claiming we're "in it for Mahrez" or that "we're constantly putting him down", when in fact, most fans today were highly critical of almost all players in a Leicester shirt in the first half or that we're also there for Mahrez when praise is due. Riyad is an incredibly frustrating player to watch because he's not particularly hard-working when we're defending. He's slim, frail and shies away from tackles. He can run hot and cold going forward and too often comes up with a selfish act. But let's not mistake this criticism for an alleged large-scale antipathy. Mahrez is a footballing genius and can astonish everyone with some of the most ridiculous skills or ideas during a match you've ever seen. Unfortunately, he's human like the rest of us and prone to error. It's when the negative side on the balance outshines the positive one when frustration is the general sentiment. And rightly so. So, please. Stop this "double standard" nonsense and start applying logic. Because you're clearly applying your own double standard if you haven't realized yet.
ARCHER Posted 10 April 2016 Posted 10 April 2016 I think we need to keep this all in proportion. No need to start fighting amongst each other. I apologize for my behaviour and comment. Let's drop this. You what!
ARM1968 Posted 10 April 2016 Posted 10 April 2016 BornBlue - you're a nob. Surely you must mean best CM in the universe. That little guy is so sensational it's stupid. At one point he won the ball about 4 times in as man seconds. Even his passing was better today. And how the hell does he win headers?
ARM1968 Posted 10 April 2016 Posted 10 April 2016 Oh and perspective on Mahrez guys. He was awful today, just not in the game at all. Doesn't mean anything, he's utter quality and will shine brightly before this season ends. Relax, we're still 7pts clear.
teblin Posted 10 April 2016 Posted 10 April 2016 Am I right in thinking we have only conceded 6 goals in 2016?
MattCan Posted 10 April 2016 Posted 10 April 2016 I also get frustrated at some of the kneejerk crap spouted on here, however, that is a big statement, would you care to elaborate? Nothing to it. Just came out of frustration and mere reaction as I already explained. I apologize for it. I really love this team, the whole team.
Reg Vardy Posted 10 April 2016 Posted 10 April 2016 Watched the game from half way line.....every time Mahrez and to a lesser degree Kante, either got clattered or crowded out. Obviously Sam did his homework, credit where credit is due. We looked as ragged as we have for some time, again credit to Sunderland. Second half thought we we excellent, back four, Kasper, Drinky, Kante ! Albrighton, Jamie, and Ulloa, Gray all excellent..... Mahrez occupies defenders, leaves space for others to exploit.....we could have won 6-1
EGBFitness Posted 10 April 2016 Posted 10 April 2016 So people aren't allowed to say anyone played badly, are you seriously suggesting that? his performance wasnt that bad and especially as bad as what some have made out to be. As I put in the post he wasn't at his best today but dont feel the need to scrutinise his performance. It wasn't until the first goal went in did any of our players really look comfortable.
Fox 4 Life Posted 10 April 2016 Posted 10 April 2016 Am I right in thinking we have only conceded 6 goals in 2016?5 in the league but 4 more if you count the cup against spurs. The 5 in the league is amazing though.Horrible to say one of those was against villa

Fatty Arbuckle Posted 10 April 2016 Posted 10 April 2016 So people aren't allowed to say anyone played badly, are you seriously suggesting that? The number of people that share that view actually astounds me. People were having a go at me today for daring to say we weren't great in the first half; telling me I need to remember where we are in the league!
Clever Fox Posted 10 April 2016 Posted 10 April 2016 This. Absolutely. We're getting closer, but Spurs are well up for this and we haven't won it yet. We need to stay concentrated on the next match at all times as CR said. Remember that in 1963 we were top with a four point lead with four games to go and only finished fourth. Sadly I'm old enough to remember it well. That's why I don't want to experience it again. As said concentrate on one game at a time but we've got to start passing the ball better.
Strokes Posted 10 April 2016 Posted 10 April 2016 Mahrez is integral to our success, he had a poor game today and has had a bit of a lull period for us but maybe he is a victim of his own success. He is a marked man, Sunderland had two on him most of the game and the same can be said for Southampton. Teams are are trying to stop us now, rather than playing their natural game. Mahrez will be back to his best soon enough I'm sure.
The Doctor Posted 10 April 2016 Posted 10 April 2016 5 in the league but 4 more if you count the cup against spurs. The 5 in the league is amazing though. Horrible to say one of those was against villa 6 in the league. Villa and Man City got one each, Arsenal and West Brom got 2 each.
sdb Posted 10 April 2016 Posted 10 April 2016 What a win. Not a great performance for large parts and felt like it could go either way. Vardy's pace and finishing the difference. What a feeling when they went in. Kante MOTM yet again. Mahrez way below his best but was marked out of the game well by them. He's going to need to go on his right a little more now as teams are wising up to his main move. If we win next week I think we'll win the league, but Spurs will push us all the way and we'll need at least 7 points more to win it. They'll beat Stoke for one.
Fox 4 Life Posted 10 April 2016 Posted 10 April 2016 6 in the league. Villa and Man City got one each, Arsenal and West Brom got 2 each. Maths was never my strong point.....
The Doctor Posted 10 April 2016 Posted 10 April 2016 The guy explained himself fully and well, so IMVHO he's not written any crap!. There are plenty of posters who would put players up against the wall after one below-par performance - and you should notice that - because you've heard the same crap at games. There'll be some yawpy cvnt waiting to unleash a torrent of abuse when some player makes a mistake. Mahrez is an integral part of the side and will be one of the players mainly responsible for the title if we win it. After all, how many goals and assists has he made - yet the Mr. Short Memories are straight on his case - even after a 2 - 0 away win against a side fighting to stay up. He's very slight - one of the skinniest players I've seen in a long, long time - he's first on the hit-men lists when the 'make sure you mark him' instructions are given out...so I don't feel the urge to say he's had a crap game when, in actual fact, he's tried and not succeeded to be up to his best. To the snide comments about him having his head in the Nou Camp (or the Bernabeu) - well, there's always going to be sour-faced misery-guts critics around - it's how they think and feel. I suspect that, when he's on the pitch, the last place his head is is in Spain, France or Germany. Here we have the greatest City side ever - week-in, week-out pulling their guts out for the team, the manager and we fans - just on the verge of immortality, and still the immortal lines come out (and I paraphrase) 'We played crap but managed to scrape a result.' So I'll say fair-dos to MattCan - I think he's picked up on something the in-crowd doesn't like hearing about itself but is a little too close-to-home for a bit of honest self-examination. Nonsense. People on here aren't slow to praise Mahrez when he plays well, but acting like the place is full of haters for saying he was below par today is ridiculous. He didn't really manage to get himself involved today, too pedestrian and casual. He's still probably the greatest player any of us have ever seen in a city shirt, but that doesn't mean that he is incapable of having a bad game.
Dan Posted 10 April 2016 Posted 10 April 2016 Make the most of this. It's a truly special time. They're our halcyon days. We're going to win that league and in doing so pull off probably the greatest sporting shock of all time. Just how will anyone ever top this?
