DJ Barry Hammond Posted 20 April 2016 Posted 20 April 2016 Good to hear, hopefully Hodgson saying such a thing will help Vardy's cause, I'm holding out it remains just the one game ban Well Carrol hasn't received anything for his post game comments yet either... which could suggest the FA are sanctioning Moss's performance instead? If Vardy gets away with just the one game, we'd have to count ourselves very lucky... but Hodgson has gone out on one hell a whim with those comments if the FA isn't thinking about letting him get off? We'll know more tomorrow, given he's got to respond to the charge by then.
Larry_LCFC Posted 20 April 2016 Posted 20 April 2016 I think Hodgson is a dick, but fair play for those comments. Hopefully common sense will prevail.
Vardinio'sCat Posted 20 April 2016 Posted 20 April 2016 The Vardy story this season is massive and im hoping public perception of him may sway any decision to add addition game bans. I would also hope Roy Hodgson who witnessed the poor referring performance could also support Vardy Woy's gone into bat for Jamie, who would have thought! Maybe we have Roy all wrong, and he is going to blossom, Bobby Robson style.
inckley fox Posted 20 April 2016 Posted 20 April 2016 Doesn't Moss referee again tomorrow night? More negative headlines could have a big impact on the atmosphere of the hearing. People will be looking very carefully at his performance. If he misses any shirt pulling, simulation, gives out any reds, fails to give out any reds, gives a dodgy penalty, fails to calm tempers, is in the slightest bit inconsistent or is in any way perceived to alter the course of the game, he'll be beyond salvation. People might sympathise with him being a mental wreck, but if he was seen to flop again - which, considering the scrutiny, is very likely - there'd also be widespread acceptance of his inadequacy. And anyone bemoaning the quality of his officiating would have to be taken at least a little more seriously, especially if the most important employee of your own organisation is among their number.
Vardinio'sCat Posted 20 April 2016 Posted 20 April 2016 Could Vardy appeal and claim he was talking to Kante? I've just done a little bit of wee...
K1FOX Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 Surely if Hodgson, who is the FA's most important and highest paid employee, is publicly stating that Vardy didn't dive and therefore shouldn't have even had one yellow let alone two and also saying his reaction was only normal to such an absurd refereeing decision then this means the FA would have to be very stupid to give him an additional ban and completely go against what the England manager is saying. What a farce the FA is. And the vardy story has yet another twist. Unbelievable. Ps. If he only gets a ban for Sunday and nothing additional, what an almighty boost that is going to give everyone. And the one week rest will only do him good.
WigstonWanderer Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 Perhaps Roy's intervention lays to rest some of the conspiracy theories regarding his treatment of Vardy in the England setup. I for one am very surprised and pleased by his statement, and would hope that this helps to ensure that some degree of sanity prevails when the FA decide the punishment.
Vardinio'sCat Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 You know this isn't looking like a 3 game ban to me, 2 is surely the worst he can get. I don't have to remind anyone of the Shearer case. Now that Woy has come galloping over the hill, like a geriatric Gary Cooper , and the Mercury having said earlier that Moss has no game assigned for the weekend, we do have a few grounds for hope. 3 would be unbelievably harsh.
SpinneyHillRanger Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 The bans never going to be three. At most it will be two. Bellarin and Costa are two similar cases and both had fines and an extra game ban. Hopefully FA realise Moss got plenty wrong and take this into account as woy has said. IMO best to take a big fine and 1 match ban. That would be justified for vardys offences, anything more is overkill.
Detroit Blues Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 Plz based hodgson. A happy, in form vardy is more important to the Euro squad (and the FA) than one ref's pride.

I don't think the referee's performance in that or his next match will make any difference to this whatsoever. I can't see the FA's decision resting on whether they thought the comments from Vardy were justified or not.
AyewJoking Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 Woy better watch what he says or spurs will revoke his season ticket
Chrysalis Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 I'm sorry to say, it is right and he should be banned. You can't put your finger in someones face and called them what he did and get away with it. Not just on a football pitch. There are kids that watch these games, and it's not just Vardy many players are constantly in the refs face swearing. It's not the "grappling in the box" that should be cracked down on, its the decent. You can understand that he was frustrated and the heat of the moment etc.. and he shouldn't have had his 1st yellow etc.. but if you take the swearing and gesturing as its own incident, he has no defence. you cant just decide to do it in the 34th game, rule enforcement changes start of season not in a title run in.
Crazy Kop Corner Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 Roy has gone up in my estimations here. Shame he didn't go the next step and rightfully call Jon Moss an f'ing C as well.
FrankieADZ Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 Roy certainly has a point tbh, and considering the FA are trying to do the same charge they did against Costa(IMO Costa's was a worse offence actually going in to "almost bite Gareth Barry), I think a heftier fine that normal, and a warning on future conduct could well be appropriate probably be a 2 match ban as its the FA,
Fox 4 Life Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 Pleasantly surprised by this, not sure if it's a bit of PR for any idiots that now think he shouldn't go to the euros. Seems strange to come out so defiantly. Could we convince him to be a character witness at any hearing?!
gerrytaggart Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 Wave some pound notes under their noses...the FA love a bit of cash.
HighPeakFox Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 Well Carrol hasn't received anything for his post game comments yet either... which could suggest the FA are sanctioning Moss's performance instead? If Vardy gets away with just the one game, we'd have to count ourselves very lucky... but Hodgson has gone out on one hell a limb with those comments if the FA isn't thinking about letting him get off? Sharpe's Foxes Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 Leicester’s Jamie Vardy acted naturally and is being wronged, says Hodgson • England manager feels sympathy for ‘wronged’ striker • Vardy facing one-game ban and possible extra suspension England’s manager Roy Hodgson, left, and his assistant Ray Lewington keep tabs on Sunday’s Leicester v West Ham match at The King Power Stadium. Photograph: BPI/Rex/Shutterstock Daniel Taylor @DTguardian Wednesday 20 April 2016 22.39 BST Roy Hodgson has insisted that Jamie Vardy is the victim of an injustice and should not be castigated for the “human” reaction to being sent off that has left theLeicester City striker facing an extended ban from the Football Association. Vardy is facing an additional one-game suspension because of his finger-jabbing tirade in the face of the referee, Jon Moss, after being shown a second yellow card, for alleged diving, in Leicester’s 2-2 draw against West Ham on Sunday. The England international has been charged with improper conduct but Hodgson, the FA’s highest-profile employee, said he feels sorry for the player. “I sympathise with him,” Hodgson said. “I think he was very, very unlucky and I will go out on a limb – I don’t see that as a dive. I think he was unbalanced and that was it. I don’t think it was a penalty either. I just think he was unbalanced, running at that speed and there was a very slight contact with the defender who was trying to cover. “I think he went down because he was unbalanced but, of course, all the pundits I hear are saying: ‘He was trying to dive, look how he dived.’ I don’t see it and I wouldn’t blame him for that. I don’t think he did go down. It’s not in his make-up. “When you get sent off for something like that – where he obviously feels like I feel, and there is no doubt he is of that opinion – he has had to swallow the fact that he has been made to leave the field. Then, of course, he has reacted like sometimes human beings react. He hasn’t just said to the ref: ‘That’s all right, I understand, shake hands and have a good game.’ He has called him a few names. But he is a human being and that can happen. “Players are players. You take everything that the player brings with him. You take Wayne Rooney – he, in my recollection, was pretty hot-headed earlier in his career and got himself into scrapes on the field. But you take what the player brings.” Hodgson’s comments might not be in line with the stance his employer wants to take when it comes to protecting referees, but the England manager does intend to speak to his players about the importance of discipline at Euro 2016. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/apr/20/leicester-jamie-vardy-wronged-roy-hodgson It looked to me like the defender hip checked and rammed his left knee into Vardys right thigh and rear which is why Vardy fell the way he did.
Fox 4 Life Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 Surely the fact Moss has no game this weekend is an indication the FA know he messed up? Or maybe he's too faaaat to be a 4th official and have a game in the same few days
