A silly little poem I wrote ahead of the big game...

In Denial

Can we win the league, Dad?

Son, don't be a clown

I've watched this club since '63

They've always let me down

Bouncing in between the tiers

With Bolton, Hull and QPR

In old money, we belong in

division one... and a half

Can we win the league, Dad?

Son, don't be a cretin

Even at these silly odds

You wouldn't catch me betting

Listen to the experts lad

Merson, Lawro, Souness

They know what they're on about

We're absolutely useless

Can we win the league, Dad?

Son, you're getting boring

I've told you it's a lucky streak

And Vardy won't keep scoring

You don't get points for funny names

Or how nice your pitch is

These comeback kings will come unstuck

When we get to Christmas

Can we win the league, Dad?

Don't get above your station

Now that we've hit 40

And avoided relegation

A couple of suspensions

Will show how weak our squad is

We'll slide right down the table

With an injury to Mahrez

Can we win the league, Dad?

Son, we've got no chance

And do you really want to see

Lineker in pants?

I know we're in the papers

The Leicester Fairytale

But now we've lost to Arsenal twice

Claudio will fail

Can we win the league, Dad?

Son, don't be a prat

Spurs will lift the trophy now

Jon Moss will see to that

They play the nicer football

Skill, flair and aggression

Not scrappy, flukey one-nil wins

With twelve percent possession

Can we win the league, Dad?

Son, you'll think I'm crazy

But seven clear with three to go?

Maybe boy, just maybe...

I must admit I thought that was gonna be a cringey piece of crap but it is actually very good!

Deserves a wider airing.  Send it to the Merc or something.

It's just my friends have taunted me for years and now it's time to give them their own roast. :)
