RoboFox Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 When I saw the squad: Maybe if we're lucky Roy Hodgson will be cut from the final EURO 2016 management team.
Kitchandro Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 Firstly, congratulations to Vardy and Drinky, but frankly they simply had to be picked. Even Roy couldn't possibly leave them out. In fact there's no good argument for either not starting. It's a very predictable squad really - we all knew Rooney, Delph, Sterling, Wilshere and Stones would be picked despite none of them deserving to be anywhere near the squad, whilst Albrighton and Noble were never going to be included despite being absolutely fantastic this season. I half expected Rashford to be picked. Why? Because a Man Utd player. There's just no defence of Roy I'm afraid, some of his decisions with that squad are absolutely shocking.
Fox92 Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 Thing is, when was the last time the two top EPL goalscorers were English leading into a major tournament? Probably never. Hodgson has the chance to do pretty decent this year if he takes his head out his arse. Vardy and Kane have to start. Rooney isn't fit to clean their boots as far as I'm concerned. Exactly cheese. Exactly! Around the 1997/1998 time. Owen, Dublin, Sutton all scored about 20 goals each.
ThingsCouldGetMessi Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 Roy says he will pick on form and then picks all the old favourites as per usual. Surely Danny Simpson should be in the squad after the way he played this season? Mark Noble missing out is a joke. If he picked the right squad and starts the players who deserve to then we could reach the Semi's. Sadly, we know he won't.
Koke Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 We're starting to sound like West Ham fans here. Albrighton in the England squad? Come on lads. He's a decent player and has a role with us but he's not England quality, and never has been. Yes there are others as well who shouldn't be in the squad but asking for Simpson and Albrighton to be in the squad sounds very West Ham like. If West Ham fans had their way England would have Carroll up top, Antonio on the wing, Cresswell left back and Noble as captain. And the West Ham tea lady as the official England tea lady.
Tuna Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 Here's a question suppose for a minute drinky was playing for man united and he has had the season he's had for us but for them. Even with united finishing 5th/6th there would be no question of him going. Closed shop the England team. Rashford inclusion is embarrassment particularly when you've got defoe and carroll.

fuchsntf Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 anyone else think it is ridiculous townsend is in that squad ahead of albirghton and antonio No, hes always done well for England, then had probs getting back into spurs after a few repeatative injuries. Albrighton is a top even great club player, might of been worth a punt, but cant say they are Int.level. Antonio, again not quite there.Maybe both might get a look in for the WC qualifying games and friendlies. If both were players from another home country, I would say both would be automatic choices, but for me England do have a higher perspective .
fuchsntf Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 Drinkwater will get dropped. Vardy will play wide if he even plays at all. Hodgson He's a joke Does this mean you will love him, if both go then play!!!
David Hankey Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 Here's a question suppose for a minute drinky was playing for man united and he has had the season he's had for us but for them. Even with united finishing 5th/6th there would be no question of him going. Closed shop the England team. Rashford inclusion is embarrassment particularly when you've got defoe and carroll. With regard to Rashford I think he's worth a place if we're looking to the future. Defoe is an old man in footballing terms and Carroll has done very little apart from the last month or so.
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 It wouldn't surprise me at all if Drinky misses out. Would be appalling if Henderson, Wilshere or Delph are picked ahead of him though
AyewJoking Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 If wooney wants to play midfield why is he occupying a forward slot?
steflcfc Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 Some usual players picked again by Roy. How Wilshere and Delph get included is baffling as they haven't played 10 games between them. Are we really that short of midfield talent at this moment to rely on their fitness.....I think not! Woy picking a few of his favourites. Feel for Noble will never have a better season. Sooner Roy goes and we get a manager who will pick on form regardless of what team try play for the better, as England really is becoming a closed shop for the big 4 with the odd exception. If you ain't playing for your club you shouldn't be anywhere near representing your country.
Captain... Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 It's hard to say if this squad is better or worse than our World Cup squad of 2 years ago: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_FIFA_World_Cup_squads#England Ricky Lambert! Phil Jones! Glen Johnson! Luke Shaw! (what is this obsession with picking an inexperienced teenager as a last minute inclusion)
fuchsntf Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 It really is embarrassing supporting these no marks. Then dont!! Go to tierra del fuego for an holiday !!
jammie82uk Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 I'd go as the front 5 Kane - Vardy Rooney Ali - drinkwater - Barkley I would swap Barkley for dier
Captain... Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 I'd go as the front 5 Kane - Vardy Rooney Ali - drinkwater - Barkley That's 6 and a provides very little cover. I would go Dier - Drinkwater Lallana - Alli - Vardy Kane Give Vardy license to get forwards and Drinkwater to cover the space in behind while Lallana does more of the Albrighton role and provide cover while the midfield shuffles across to protect the left back. I expect Roy to go Henderson - Wilshire Milner - Rooney - Sterling Kane
fuchsntf Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 ill be supporting Austria for Fuchs & France for kante. Fuch tis squad, its a joke. I hate Engand, always picking on reputation over merit. Fuch fuch fuch. FUCH YOU HODGSON! Then dont just make wild complaints and moans... Give us your full 23 squad, and please no Simpson or Albrighton. SO easy to keep having a dig at the English manager. Easy to mention ones single choices... Where are this last 2 seasons any decent CBs, that would give any manager a headache of choice. Midfield. Delph suprises me, but again Roy picks 3 new guys, Dier, Ali, Drinkwater. Yes I would of gone for Noble. Milner fits the flexable squad player choice after a good season. Henderson, some like him, some dont..Wilshire I would risk him, but ahead of Henderson. Forwards. Sorry imo Rooney should go, Kane n Vardy should start together again imo. Sterling.. an enigma. If picked ge should throw his shackles off, and just attack. Townsend seems more daring and ready for a quick move than most in an England shirt. Again midfield Barkley and lallana, last chance saloon. Lallana should make sure he keeps in the game.He has those dribbling skills inside the box. Barkley, by all means make your surging runs, but think what your end product will be, perfect pass or shoot, but not indecision..
Detroit Blues Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 Three central defenders and one of them is John Stones, this could well be the funniest England tournament yet. This is honestly the biggest issue to me in England's squad. Too much time and energy will be spent debating the midfielders and the strikers, but if I were supporting England, the center back situation would scare me the most. Not enough quality, not enough depth.
fuchsntf Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 That's 6 and a provides very little cover. I would go Dier - Drinkwater Lallana - Alli - Vardy Kane Give Vardy license to get forwards and Drinkwater to cover the space in behind while Lallana does more of the Albrighton role and provide cover while the midfield shuffles across to protect the left back. I expect Roy to go Henderson - Wilshire Milner - Rooney - Sterling Kane If Dier and Ali dont start, then Roy will deserve all the flak that goes his way. He has to realise his choices could make him a legend. Roy should take the bull by the horns, and Dare play Kane and Vardy together. Hey just seen Souness agrees with me...
Koke Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 Townsend is not better/not had a better season than Albrighton though. That's what I don't understand. Townsend has more ability than Albrighton and is more of a goal threat. Albrighton is Milner 2.0 and England don't need more than 1 James Milner type. Albrighton is good for us because has a role in our set up, and he's a reliable performer. But I wouldn't select him for England I'm afraid.
fuchsntf Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 SOUNESS PUT UP 2 good points.. # who would he chose for his first starters, he dabbled between 5-8. # He put down or chose the players he thinks should!! go dabbling between 16-19.
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 What the **** has Rashford done to deserve a call up?
