GaelicFox Posted 24 May 2016 Posted 24 May 2016 What stupid dumb ass is agreeing to £20m release clauses for players that would cost £30-40m to replace ! Kante and Vardy it's seems defo have them and rumours drinkys is less ! Someone down at the city needs a good shake ! Vardy's contract was only agreed in February ! He will loose a lot of goodwill in these parts if he enacts that
mozartfox Posted 24 May 2016 Posted 24 May 2016 Unfortunately, when buying a relatively unknown player from the French Second Division or the National Conference, you can never predict how the transfer will pan out and what the said player could be worth in the future. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. We do not know the details of individual players' contracts and nor should we. The problem in all this is 'agents'. They are the drivers. Mahrez, Kante and Vardy may not be where they are today but for Leicester City, but Agents and players have other agendas and who can blame them? I would not call any current Officer of this Club a 'dumm ass' and we must leave it to those responsible to work in the best interests of the Club and to a lesser extent that of the players. This is football. Newspapers and websites are full of shit and never believe what you read in the Sun, Star or Mirror!
st albans fox Posted 24 May 2016 Posted 24 May 2016 We don't pay high enough wages to demand loyalty. Either we agree to lower buy outs than might seem fair or we pay high wages for elite players. Players know that if they leave on low transfer fees, they can demand the difference in a signing on fee. Hence they don't lose out if they are in demand (due to excellent performances). They would argue as to why the club should reap the benefits of their abilities when the club aren't prepared to pay them what they can earn in a number of other clubs. You might not like it but it's the market (as Shaun would say)
Guest MattP Posted 24 May 2016 Posted 24 May 2016 Kante didn't really want to come here anyway so of course he was going to demand a release clause in case he did well. Standard stuff these days, it's the way football is.
howlinmadmurfdoc Posted 24 May 2016 Posted 24 May 2016 I'm pretty sure when we signed him nobody would've called Kante being one of the most in demand players in world football within 12 months.
Guest MattP Posted 24 May 2016 Posted 24 May 2016 Exactly, from what I remember we only got him as Marseille wouldn't go up to eight million, so a release fee with a 150% increase wasn't unreasonable.
Itsthejoeker Posted 24 May 2016 Posted 24 May 2016 Just because there's a release clause it doesn't mean the players wil go. Vardy has already committed to us if the release clause is triggered, Dribkwater has apparently done similar. And the club are confident of keeping Kante. If this is the state you're in now, I'd go see a doctor about your stress problem.

cc_star Posted 24 May 2016 Posted 24 May 2016 Should've renegotiated in Jan, got them on better deals and pumped the release clause up

crisp packet Posted 24 May 2016 Posted 24 May 2016 Any source to these so called release clauses? Are they not just a thing on the continent ? Relegation release clause I've heard But we'll see eh? I'm the club I trust...

goose2010 Posted 24 May 2016 Posted 24 May 2016 Its going to be a long summer! Just stop panicking about apparent release clauses! Its just speculation that the players have them in, their agents will leak stories left right and centre to make the club panic. Why on earth would Vardy or Drinkwater leave? they are guaranteed starting places in the champs league no one else in the world would off them two that and they know it! Kante yes he could pretty much walk into most teams but until we hear that he has handed a transfer request in for all we know he could be wanting to commit his career to Leicester. What we be will be we have no control as fans and I don't think we could of possibly put this club into a better light last season and the end of season, for all we know there are agents banging on our door wanting their players to play with the latest in trend team, because lets be honest next season anyone that is playing for our club have the chance to make them selves legends wouldn't you fancy that if you were a player?
CosbehFox Posted 24 May 2016 Posted 24 May 2016 Any source to these so called release clauses? Yep other than newspaper speculation? It wouldn't surprise me if these clauses are far more common than we think and virtually every player insists on them. I'm sure most will have clauses which cite clubs of a certain stature bid for them then the player is allowed to talk to the club.
Captain... Posted 24 May 2016 Posted 24 May 2016 They will have release clauses and relegation clauses, it is pretty standard and will become more and more common as all premier league clubs are rich enough they don't need to sell players any more. Having a release clause doesn't mean anything other than if a club offers that much then the club can't stand in the way if a player wants to talk to them: "Jamie, West Ham have offered £20m you want to talk to them?" "No!" At least this way clubs know the player isn't interested and don't keep on coming back to the club with bigger offers and trying to unsettle players through the media.
Ric Flair Posted 24 May 2016 Posted 24 May 2016 I'm not convinced there is release clauses, it seems to be fashionable these days by the press to claim players have one as it adds credibility to their transfer rumours.
Darkon84 Posted 24 May 2016 Posted 24 May 2016 We don't even know for sure that these players have them. Yes, there's a possibility but we've all heard rumours about other players having them, which turned out to be complete bullsh*t, so until another club actually tries to trigger the apparent clause, or until we see a leaked contract, I'm not worried.
stevelcfc Posted 24 May 2016 Posted 24 May 2016 Vardy also had a release clause according to the rags, a week later after selling many newspapers off the back of it, oops not he hasn't really. .
davieG Posted 24 May 2016 Posted 24 May 2016 Considering how reluctant Kante was coming to lcfc I'm not convinced he and his agent would have agreed to a £20mill+ release clause especially on the size of his transfer fee.
Gubbins Posted 24 May 2016 Posted 24 May 2016 They are really uncommon for English clubs and there was exactly no mention or rumours of Kante having one when he was linked with clubs during the January window. It's media bs.
davieG Posted 24 May 2016 Posted 24 May 2016 What about Santa Clauses??? They're not contractual though they are just optional gifts.
mozartfox Posted 24 May 2016 Posted 24 May 2016 Shame there were no reverse release clauses in some of Sven's signings
foxy boxing Posted 24 May 2016 Posted 24 May 2016 release clauses are pretty standard in transfers nowadays, for a player and agent the grass is always greener.
