indierich06 Posted 6 July 2016 Posted 6 July 2016 Never really seen Derby as a genuine rival. Always liked beating them, but for me it was always about Forest and Cov. I won't go as far as to say I'll 'support' them next season, but I'll definitely keep an eye out for their results as I really want Pearson to do well. Wonder what price they are for Champions?
BigWesMorgan Posted 6 July 2016 Posted 6 July 2016 Apparently he's easily the best coach in the academy and all of the kids love him.
TheMightySystem Posted 6 July 2016 Posted 6 July 2016 Can Ranieri not recommend a promotion for Idiakez to the owners. I would like think the first team manager has more control then Rudkin with the accademy, or at least gets a say in it. The fact he attended a few U21 games last season then stopped bothering should tell the owners enough.
Dan Posted 6 July 2016 Posted 6 July 2016 He'll go. Ex-Derby player, advanced role with a manager he's worked with. No-brainer really.
Countryfox Posted 6 July 2016 Posted 6 July 2016 Pearson just won't leave us alone .... Peck peck peck.
CloudFox Posted 6 July 2016 Posted 6 July 2016 Such a shame if he goes. He's really highly-rated, and credited with the emergence of Hamza, Chilwell (I think?), and Ndukwu. As has been said, the youth players love him, and is easily one of our best youth coaches. Understand if he goes though - that's quite the promotion.

Out Foxed Posted 6 July 2016 Posted 6 July 2016 Pearson just won't leave us alone .... Peck peck peck. how old are you? when sitting up a new team, you rely on people you know and trust. nothing to do with pecking it's to do with him giving the best chance at succeeding.

The last few u21 games I watched were just awful so you can't blame him.
Dan Posted 6 July 2016 Posted 6 July 2016 Hope we take his replacement seriously. We don't produce nearly enough quality.
Guest Posted 6 July 2016 Posted 6 July 2016 What's his release clause? If it's 20m I'll be happy with that.
Nickfosse Posted 6 July 2016 Posted 6 July 2016 Hope we take his replacement seriously. We don't produce nearly enough quality. Is that right? Andy King, Liam Moore and Jeff Schlupp have all played Premier League football for us since coming through the academy, and Chilwell and Dodoo have both played cup football for our Premier league outfit. Are there other Premier league clubs who are producing significantly more first team players?

King and Schlupp I'll give you, Moore has never made it at this level, Chilwell I think looks very promising but has not yet done it, Dodoo I don't think ever will. That's over how many years as well? We aren't on our own but for me we ought to produce more. I just don't think it gets taken seriously enough in this country.

My thought was more about whether there are other premier league clubs producing more players for the top level of English football than us. The only one that springs to my mind is Southampton and I feel very sorry for them that so much of that talent has left.I agree with you that it should be taken more seriously..

Are there other Premier league clubs who are producing significantly more first team players? Are you serious? Look at Southampton, Spurs, Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal, West Ham and probably others. All produce more than we do, albeit some could be classed as buying in their academy players but our record is quite poor.

All produce more than we do, albeit some could be classed as buying in their academy players but our record is quite poor. Who is the last player they could really claim to have made, they just scour europe taking kids from france and spain and the english players they normally take as soon as they have played 12 games for someone else. Our system and track record isn't great but, spurs, have kane and rose, everyone else seems to leave and end up at hull or somewhere, ok you could argue that they are still making a living in the top flight, but we have had a few, stearman, mattock, moore, chilwell. It seems attitude or bad choices, have been the down fall rather than talent. Kingy and jeff have done ok, although we did pick them up after others had let them go. Maxi Gradel, had to leave, but he's made the grade. How many players have Man Utd actually brought through in recent years, they got lucky with having Beckham, Butt, Scholes, The nevilles all come through at one time, I think people get carried away with that, brown, o'shea etc, all had to move on, because they weren't top draw. Liverpool, owen, gerrard, carragher? for me, what is wrong in this country is we over hype and over pay anyone who looks half decent and then look what happens at international level we are not miles behind because of ability, it's the attitude. I know of some seriously talent kids around the area I live, but they are just that kids, who knows if they will make the grade. One thing that does concern me, is I know for a fact, Forest and Derby seem a lot more pro-active in scouting these lads and taking them for trails. practice matches etc, they seem much better at looking after the kids as well. Keeping in contact, managing injuries etc. I know of lads, from round here as well, travelling down for development games, V west ham and chelsea's academy lads, so they can get a look at them, yet not a sniff of interest from Leicester at times. Sorry if I've gone off on a tangent here

Good point, so why don't we give him a few players as well ... he knows them. Up the Rams !
sm1 Posted 7 July 2016 Posted 7 July 2016 Derby becoming a home for ex City staff, Pearson, Philips, Powell and possibly Inigo

Sorry if I've gone off on a tangent here Spurs signed Rose from Leeds as well. I don't think clubs in this country produce enough in general, it isn't something unique to Leicester, it's a culture created by the Premier League and the demand for instant success - it's too often seen as a gamble, it's why I have such admiration for Southampton. Man Utd in fairness have given opportunities to a fair few in recent years. Van Gaal for all his faults was quite good for this.

Van Gaal for all his faults was quite good for this. forgot rose had been at leeds, i agree, we just buy ready made products from anywhere, but if we do produce anything, we turn them into a star overnight. Have to disagree on van gaal, i think his hand was forced by injuries. But overall Man Utd maybe up there as the club who has produced more players that have had good/steady careers in the top flight. I think man city are up there as leaders in players who are still in the game, albeit L1/2 etc, but again, they brought Hart, after that, who have they had really, we suck these kids in way to early now, show them the money and lifestyle, they get attitude and then we spit them out again.
Bayfox Posted 7 July 2016 Posted 7 July 2016 I'm not sure if you've been on a long holiday or something but the current Premier League champions are made up of players from United's academy. But man utd deemed them not good enough, the same as we are deeming what we produce as not good enough and you maybe stretching it with made up. Would RDL or James really have got games for Utd, no RDL was deemed not good enough for us eventually, simpson maybe, maybe not, Drinky has had an outstanding season yes and on current form would get in that side. But that's one out of 4.
