Grewks Posted 5 July 2016 Posted 5 July 2016 http://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/derby-county-boss-nigel-pearson-wants-to-add-inigo-idiakez-to-coaching-staff/story-29474695-detail/story.html Thoughts? Apparently he's the under 16's manager. Would personally rather see us add more staff than lose any.
MPH Posted 5 July 2016 Posted 5 July 2016 Well no disrespect to the u16s, but to join the first team coaching staff or become an assistant manager is a significant step up so cant begrudge him that. It would be a natural progression for him....
ajthefox Posted 5 July 2016 Posted 5 July 2016 What MPH said, plus the fact that he played at Derby. I agree that we don't want to be losing staff, but I wouldn't have thought that the under 16 coach would be particularly difficult to replace.
foxy boxing Posted 5 July 2016 Posted 5 July 2016 As long as that is where it ends,I don't want Pearson taking anymore staff or players. Always hate it when a former manager of a club takes staff and players from a club he once managed with him to his new club
goose2010 Posted 5 July 2016 Posted 5 July 2016 As long as that is where it ends,I don't want Pearson taking anymore staff or players. Always hate it when a former manager of a club takes staff and players from a club he once managed with him to his new club I think this is slightly different, its not like the manager has exactly took a promotion as such, I cant see the queue of players and staff wanting to join Derby from the premier league champions being very long!
foxoffderby Posted 5 July 2016 Posted 5 July 2016 Well loved player for Derby back in the day. Can see this happening.
DB11 Posted 5 July 2016 Posted 5 July 2016 Well he's an ex favourite of theirs and it would be a step up from the under 16s so fair play. At first I thought it was going to be Mike Stowell and thought wtf he must be the longest serving coach no way would he go
DB11 Posted 5 July 2016 Posted 5 July 2016 Update: Leicester have given Derby permission to speak to him
The Bear Posted 5 July 2016 Posted 5 July 2016 We want him as assistant manager as well according to our takeover rumours. The supposed Spanish manager coming in (Lopetegui) is Basque the same as Idiakez. He's worked with Pearson before though I assume so who knows what he'd choose.
Countryfox Posted 5 July 2016 Posted 5 July 2016 Thin end of the wedge ... DeLaet ?? James ?? This chap ?? Then who next ?? It means he will have more and more contacts here through the people he gets ... he doesn't like Leicester City. Tell him to fook off and have no dealings with him whatsoever ...... unless we want to buy one of their players P.S. Quite like Nige though ....
stevelcfc Posted 5 July 2016 Posted 5 July 2016 Shame if indigo goes, highly rated you coach teaching one touch football until the higher ages remove that from them again.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 5 July 2016 Posted 5 July 2016 He's highly rated as a coach, and he was good when he was a player too if I recall. The prospect of joining Derby and Wolves in an advanced role, would be a good step in his career I feel. We'll have to see...
DB11 Posted 5 July 2016 Posted 5 July 2016 https://www.facebook.com/bbcrlsport/videos/1040638422651773/ Pearson as awkward as ever with his media interviews Reporter: "You would like him to come here and be part of your coaching team?" Pearson: "Well I think that speaks for itself" lol
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 5 July 2016 Posted 5 July 2016 He's better than ****ing Beaglehole. Hoofball for the U-16s it is then.
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 6 July 2016 Posted 6 July 2016 https://www.facebook.com/bbcrlsport/videos/1040638422651773/ Pearson as awkward as ever with his media interviews Reporter: "You would like him to come here and be part of your coaching team?" Pearson: "Well I think that speaks for itself" lol He wasn't being awkward at all. He'd just answered a question about Idiakez hopefully joining Derby and then was asked that question above. If you ask a daft question, you tend to get short shrift.
urban.spaceman Posted 6 July 2016 Posted 6 July 2016 We've got a couple of double decker busses we can lend him but we might need them back in May.
Ric Flair Posted 6 July 2016 Posted 6 July 2016 Idiakez has been wasted here, he's a very good, progressive coach who should have been given a bigger role in our academy. He should be kept hold of if possible but I think we're clueless in that department right now.
Tuna Posted 6 July 2016 Posted 6 July 2016 Sorry lads, it's a done deal. And as you can see Nigel is quite pleased with himself.

He's shown his ability as DoF with the release clauses
