Manwell Pablo Posted 8 July 2016 Posted 8 July 2016 Genuinely interested what people think will happen next season and how they view the clubs current status. I've just been looking at the RVP thread and some comments along the lines of "we are a top 4 team now" have got me curious in regards to the expectations of the fan base as a whole, where they think we are, etc. For me, I don't view us a top four team at all and will be delighted if we are playing European football full stop in 17/18. Last year was very special but surely the bigger clubs will raise their game somewhat. The CL will be exciting but tough task, how much prioritisation goes towards the FA cup as the only domestic trophy the club has never lifted? So what would make people happy when they reflect on the season at the end of May, nothing less than a title defence, CL football, FA cup win. Finishing 10th crashing back down to earth and realising all we've got left is memories what do you expect and what would you consider a "good season" I realise it depends on the playing squad but factor in our ability to hold onto players and sign new ones in the coming weeks, it's more about club status than the 11 we'd have to put out tomorrow if we had a competitive game.

I have no expectations, as always. Just hope
Izzy Posted 8 July 2016 Posted 8 July 2016 All depends on whether we hang on to Mahrez and Kante for me. Until I know if they're definitely staying or going, I'm not sure what my expectations are.
Guest Col city fan Posted 8 July 2016 Posted 8 July 2016 All depends on whether we hang on to Mahrez and Kante for me. Until I know if they're definitely staying or going, I'm not sure what my expectations are. Was just about to write the same thing. If we keep these two, I'd be over the moon. But the opposition will be so much better I think. Particularly in management terms. Jose, Pep and Antonio could well be formidable opponents.
whetstonefox Posted 8 July 2016 Posted 8 July 2016 I'd just like to see us have a positive start to the season, don't expect us to be top 4 but be happy to see us bobbing around 5th to 10th and take things from there.
little leicester Posted 8 July 2016 Posted 8 July 2016 IMO we are now an established top 6 team at least, but I would lean towards top 4. Can't lie if we finished outside the top 4 it would be very disappointing for a team of our quality.
treer Posted 8 July 2016 Posted 8 July 2016 if the the 3 superstars, and the rest of last seasons wonder boy's stay, no way, with the squad additions, will we be out of top 4. Last 16 CL for sure if we miss Madrid in the group, and with a favourable draw quarter finals a real possibilty. Not all the big teams are going to surge past us, for a start they all have 10 pts at least, just to catch city, one or two may, but not all.
Ian W LCFC Posted 8 July 2016 Posted 8 July 2016 Top 6 is definitely a realistic target this season. Anything above that would be unreal.
1972 Fox Posted 8 July 2016 Posted 8 July 2016 I genuinely believe we can challenge for the title again but only IF we can keep Mahrez and Kante.

lgfualol Posted 8 July 2016 Posted 8 July 2016 Top 9 Dont get wrecked in the CL Further than Quarter finals in league/FA cup
Goober Posted 8 July 2016 Posted 8 July 2016 I believe we can finish top 4 again to be honest, but I have no idea what to expect.
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 8 July 2016 Posted 8 July 2016 The league will be a lot stronger this year imo. I'd be happy pushing for Europa league.
Manwell Pablo Posted 8 July 2016 Author Posted 8 July 2016 It's amusing you go out of your way to make the point it's not about the players in the squad and to factor in our ability to keep and sign players into your response yet you you still get "well mahrez this, kante that" For me sort of says it all, a proper top four team would be confident of replacing its big players should they leave or retire and still look to be finishing in the top four
ScouseFox Posted 8 July 2016 Posted 8 July 2016 genuinely wouldn't care if we finished 17th on gd next year if we gave europe & the cups a good go.
jammie82uk Posted 8 July 2016 Posted 8 July 2016 For me it would be Top 10 in the league At least 6th round in the FA cup Semis in the EFL cup Get though the group stage in champions league
Wymsey Posted 8 July 2016 Posted 8 July 2016 Just going to enjoy the ride. Though, perhaps pressure on Vardy and Musa to score regularly. Hope through club gets very far in national cup competitions.
Devonfox1884 Posted 8 July 2016 Posted 8 July 2016 I think we'll: Finish 6th Get to round of 16 champions league 4th round of the league cup Quarter-final of the FA cup Win the community shield
MC Prussian Posted 8 July 2016 Posted 8 July 2016 I'd love to see good football mainly, the same football that's seen us taking the stage by storm; I'd like us to continue to challenge the status quo in the Premier League, surprise a few with a few surprising results, be a breath of fresh air, have other clubs' fans rave about us, give us "Oooooh" moments. I'm looking forward to a great time in the Champions and/or Europa League or a memorable Cup run for once. In a way, I have expectations, but somewhat subdued ambitions I guess. It's all gone so fast for a club like ours, how am I going to cope with another title or a thunderous Euro Trip? It's going to be tough trying to eclipse last season - but at least allow the team to try.
Sampson Posted 8 July 2016 Posted 8 July 2016 Some of you guys are nuts. "We're an established top 4 side" - mate, one season from the past 50 is not established.Think some people have crazy high expectations - not saying we can't achieve them, but to expect us to finish top 6, let alone top 4, is kinda nuts really.Hope some of you don't start turning on the players if we're 14th in October. It was bad enough some of our fans booing Ulloa when we were 2nd last season.
