Moksky Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 4 million to Sunderland (mirror) http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/leicester-defender-danny-simpson-4million-8400776 Laughable , they will need a new manager first
wokinghamfox Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 Dont forget he only has a year left on his contract so if Sunderland come in with 3 years and we show no sign of increasing his current one it would make sense from his situation to go
AyewJoking Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 its like a child goes shopping in toys r us and they have £5 pocket money to spend and they're looking for the cheapest thing to buy.
MrSpaM Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 Ok, well that's pretty much every single one of our players we are apparently selling now At this rate we are going to have Shinji as our only registered player
It'sblueupnorth Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 You don't know that. Maybe we would have won it by 11 points. I dislike Simpson because of the whole he strangled the mother of his child thing. Also I just don't think he is any good. RDL is better imo. Yeah, he is caught out of position and makes mistakes, but Simpson makes a lot of mistakes too. Better at what? Because RDL certainly ain't better than Simpson at football.

If RDL played along with Mahrez all year we'd be exposed just as much as we were last season. I understand if you don't like Simpson (who IMO is defensively sound and fits our 4-4-2 system perfectly) but RDL is unfortunately not good enough for our current level.
spudfox2911 Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 His defensive qualities allows Mahrez the freedom to do what he does, he brings balance to the right side and is vital to our success. Totally underrated. This. Totally different player to the 1 who first signed for us.
NewEnglandFox Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 It's hard to find a right back that isn't looking to get involved in the attacking play or overlap his winger which is especially important when the winger in front of him is Riyad Mahrez. I think that makes him trickier to replace than it should seem as it's already difficult to find quality defenders these days. I think looking to replace SImpson now would be much harder than finding him an understudy for the next season or two.
Wymsey Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 After the critisism he received around a year ago, and the strong season he has had - Ranieri and Co would be nuts to sell him now Also, Amartey is the other choice should Simpson go - and would be quite risky to rely on him on that side based on his lack of appearances.
foxes21 Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 I actually cant remember Simpson ever being dribbled past, beat for pace or caught out of position.
FireFox Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 I actually cant remember Simpson ever being dribbled past, beat for pace or caught out of position.
pazzerfox Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 I actually cant remember Simpson ever being dribbled past, beat for pace or caught out of position. What about when Giroud went by him and Danny pulled him down and got sent off?
MPH Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 I actually cant remember Simpson ever being dribbled past, beat for pace or caught out of position. He certainly has a tight grip on things....
foxes21 Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 re-watch that sending off. Went by him?!?! Giroud hardly skinned him did he, he chested the ball down, waited for contact then dived . That sending off & the back pass to Aguero are literally the only two mistakes he made in an entire season.

That sending off & the back pass to Aguero are literally the only two mistakes he made in an entire season. No, he didn't get skinned. Giroud pinned, rolled and went past him, then did what a lot of strikers do...Dived! It was well played by Giroud. For the record, Simpson had a brilliant season and think he's worth more than the 4 million being touted.

For the record, Simpson had a brilliant season and think he's worth more than the 4 million being touted. Cheating is never well played... Agreed - Simpson is the best defensive right back in the league and he will play in every match he's fit for next season... He allows Mahrez full license to go off and do what Mahrez does...
4everfox Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 Dont forget he only has a year left on his contract so if Sunderland come in with 3 years and we show no sign of increasing his current one it would make sense from his situation to go Or he could be thinking about a season in the champions league whether he gets a new deal at Leicester or not, and then at the end of the year when he's a free agent he will have clubs queuing up for his signature and he'll be able to demand a big signing on fee as the prospective club won't have to pay for him.
IainHumewasalright Posted 13 July 2016 Posted 13 July 2016 I think he had a fantastic season and was one of the best defenders in the league but I simply cannot like him as a person. That coupled with the fact that most people want us to get a new RB anyway (the general consensus seems to be new RB and new number 10 I think?) then I say take the money and let him go. I'd try and get someone like Sam Byram or Trippier in so that we have a solid future plan for good English fullbacks.
ARM1968 Posted 13 July 2016 Posted 13 July 2016 We would be insane to sell him. So far the owners and management team have shown few signs of insanity. Therefore I doubt we will sell.

Agreed - Simpson is the best defensive right back in the league and he will play in every match he's fit for next season... He allows Mahrez full license to go off and do what Mahrez does... This. And for that reason he needs to stay. There aren't many outright fullbacks these days, and his solidity in that position last season enabled RM to play with freedom, something we couldn't balance properly when we had RDL at full back.
Will1981 Posted 13 July 2016 Posted 13 July 2016 I am guessing Sunderlands targets will change next week when big Sam gets the England job.
MrSpaM Posted 1 September 2016 Posted 1 September 2016 Being reported that West Ham tried to sign him last night for 5 million, which we rejected
