Danny Simpson

I'm not Simpsons biggest fan but it would of made 0 sense to sell. No proper right back apart from him and £5m for a Premier League winning right back is an insult really, even though I think the position could be improved.

I actually think that Simpson, like Morgan, Huth and Fuchs, benefitted significantly from the Drinky/Kanté partnership.

The fullbacks got the necessary cover from midfield which isn't nearly as evident now that Kanté has left.

Simpson is an alright player at this level, no more no less. We will see more goals which will come as a result of his limitations this season.

That being said, our backline has now played 1½ seasons together which shouldn't be underestimated. It gives us stability and for that reason alone Simpson is worth more than his market value to us.

They probably thought that he might want to move London as he comes across as "that sort"

I've said it before he's not the same athlete that was QPR and Newcastle, it's like he's had some miracle juice of some sort. Still amazes me sometimes now when I see him on TV and I think "what's Mahrez doing back there..?." and it zooms in and turns out it was Simpson with a cheeky Cruyff turn or a little skill move.

He's a really bizarre one to value. He's been solid now for so long that you wonder if it'd take something like  £12-15m to even take it seriously.

I'm really surprised how much criticism he gets.

I think he is a really solid defender, the amount of times he pops up with a vital headed clearance

at the far post is incredible.

The only thing that lets him down is his passing.

Personally I'm happy with him at right back, he completes  that solid back four.

lol So?

I think a better representation might be to look at his Instagram. I can see the validity of the original statement. He does seem to enjoy the young, wealthy footballing lifestyle.

Yeah to be fair it is clear he is perceived to be "that sort".

Being reported that West Ham tried to sign him last night for 5 million, which we rejected

Naive on West Ham's part if true.

We haven't got a replacement and he's a first team player, i can't believe they thought we would sell at that price and leave ourselves exposed in that area.

What does living in London have to do with it?

He's only recently signed a new contract too. Not that it means too much but does increase value.

London does seem to be a pretty fashionable place to be young and have loads of cash.

Still underrated.

Awkward position to fill, many were  not happy with RDL..

This guy slotted in and along the backline with Claudio and coaching staff, they became a team.

One of our top signatures over the last few weeks. It is not the individual  signatures that standout,

but the individual commitment to the group, showing the present ...

"The Leicester way..the us !!!  " is working, its competitive, and still has legs.

His signature confirms the cogs are well oiled...

To me he seems to make those small mistakes that give the opposition an unnecessary chance or break. The other players in our 11 make tiny errors as well but seemingly less so. That said he works very well with Wes, Huth and Mahrez and is definitely worth his place in the squad, he attacks at the right time and defends at the right time and with the other three defenders has a good read on the game. We will need to sign a new right back in January though as we desperately need the backup, and I can't say Danny would be irreplaceable.

£15 million for Ibe set the high water mark on transfers for me - in that context 5 mill really is a piss take

Every match I watched last season, he was solid. The number of times he covered the centre/ back post when Morgan and huh were pulled away was amazing. He regularly gets back with a flicked header or last gasp tackle so I would have been gutted to see him go. He has always been one of the most open about how great this team and team spirit are. Really passionate and committed. He's learnt from his mistake and has matured a he'll of a lot and Claudio has to get credit for bringing him on.
