fazzyfox Posted 14 July 2016 Posted 14 July 2016 If we get to an F.A.Cup final please:- Kick off at 3:00 Have hours and hours of build up on TV including old favourites like a camera on the bus, celebrity bar (WIllie Thorne, Rusty Lee and Kasabian inebriated by lunchtime) and question of sport special. Do not ever again under any circumstances let a posh opera bird sing the national anthem, instead randomly pick one fan from each club out of the stands and give them the mic, at least they wouldn't miss their cue. The semi-finals should be played elsewhere, let the Wembley experience be new and special and.... hang on we're there in August anyway but still, keep it special.
Nick Posted 14 July 2016 Posted 14 July 2016 Winning the FA Cup which stays in our trophy cabinet forever > top four but not winning the league. I get that, but I do think that getting established as a big club should be the priority for now.
fuchsntf Posted 14 July 2016 Posted 14 July 2016 But not at top four expense. Of course you are so right, its so logical , but...well..!!!!!!! Fk it.. I'd take 7th and a FA cup win..I just want to see us to win the FA cup. It would mean again Europe and community shield, 3 Wembly visits in 2017. Semi-final, Final, and CS. Not forgetting it would mean another great victory parade. top 4 wouldnt give us that, now would it...??? !!!! FA cup means 1st place, top 4 is just that 2nd,3rd,4th, not 1st
Stadt Posted 14 July 2016 Posted 14 July 2016 Please please please can we win the FA Cup. No matter what everyone on here says, it's not OK that we've never won it. It would complete the best period in the club's history. Only 13 clubs have won the league, FA cup and league cup
ealingfox Posted 14 July 2016 Posted 14 July 2016 Rubbish, plenty people do care, particularly my age group. Winning the FA Cup would be massive. Of course, plenty on here think older fans feelings and beliefs don't count, but we have paid our dues. Show some respect. behave. Got absolutely nothing to do with my attitude towards older fans, you've completely pulled that out of thin air.
Walkerfox Posted 14 July 2016 Posted 14 July 2016 Honestly, I think the cups are dated now. Clubs receive so little money from them that they don't care and send out 2nd teams, meaning any cup tie is just a reserve game. I also don't see it as a prestigious piece of silverware compared to say the premier league or the champions league. I'm not that old so I can't comment on what it used to be like, however to me it now seems like the FA and league cups are just something that are kept because of tradition and are competitions that premier league clubs just don't want. If we went out straight away in both cup competitions, I wouldn't mind one bit. It would be less games to tire the squad out, meaning we could focus on the league and the champions league.
fuchsntf Posted 14 July 2016 Posted 14 July 2016 Look ...we just had a great season singing after so many years, We're gonna win the league, we know you wont believe us, weee're gonna win the league. and this time we did... Now with a run where we can sing our hearts out, by singing the same, just sub the league for the cup and wheyyyhaaaayy Wes Morgan holding the FA cup high when parading on top of that big beautifull blue bus..and Schmeichel holding the top of the pot over Ranieri... When the chef says jump up and believe, I will now believe, the godfather has delivered, I will never stop believing, Claudio is taking us to corners we have before never dared to peak around .. You know what, we can still better the forest, Cloughie never won the FA cup..

Do n t you believe it, bigger clubs with bigger squads, now they can still compete, and use their players and squad accordingly, even introducing or trying new systems. But any manager, any player who is proffesional and competes in any competition, want it badly, just as bad as the players of the past.Priorities might be taken, but the media love to put a worm in some of the fans ears, and drop lines like 'losers cup'.Its arrogance from people who enjoy trolling before trolling was thought of. Its amazing when v these top clubs go on a run, how they tell the world of their tournament history. Plus the FA cup after the 5th round, the fans still fill the stadiums, sometimes there will be cherry picking, if a club has many irons in the fire, and obviously if key players are injured in Jan-april periods, the managers will take priorities, and say anything to give them a cop out, just incase. Ferguson wasnt happy when manu pulled out of the fs cup, Jose as always said we want to win everything, Wenger was the wuzz who loved ready made excuses.Benitez, Lvpool managers, Man.city managers never came out negatively, but obviously they knew their cvs would/could look great with CL semis or finals behind them. Beckenbauer in Germany said about the Eufa-cup its a losers cup, even hoeness and a few other german managers, cryed out if we dont have competition at all levels, then even Bayern wont look so good, if they only play losers...!!!Hoeness said no cups no trebles.. Oh, probably 2 of the greatest clubs in Europe, Barcelona and R.Madrid fight tooth and nail to win their cups. Yes media rantings can put negatives into the football fraternities, and gourged on by anyone who like to drop boring ' over clever' annonces. All clubs/fans/players still want to really really also win their cups, maybe ca 100 fans per club, want to copy immature journalist rants.makes them sound like clever thinkers. The FA cup is still massive, because all good fans want it. Or end up like scotland, with 2 teams winning everything. And like you and me, we cant all be rich successful bosses, does that mean then we are losers..!!
FireFox Posted 15 July 2016 Posted 15 July 2016 Would rather go all out to win the Champions League trophy than try to win the FA Cup but either would be great.
Voll Blau Posted 15 July 2016 Posted 15 July 2016 I'm never going to tell my future grandchildren about the time we consolidated our status as a financial powerhouse and global brand by finishing fvcking fourth.
Muzzy_no7 Posted 15 July 2016 Posted 15 July 2016 Win the FA Cup Finish in the Top 10 Qualify for knockout games in UCL.
Captain... Posted 15 July 2016 Posted 15 July 2016 For those not fussed about the FA cup it is because we always go out early and never progress in it. When you get to the latter stages of a cup it suddenly becomes massive, look at what it did for Palace and Watford's seasons. We all know that the league cup is a secondary cup competition, but when you are in the semi final it is suddenly the biggest game of your lives, I remember the 3 league cup finals (4 if you count the replay) and they were amazing and it suddenly doesn't matter that the League cup is treated as a reserve competition by some clubs, it's a trophy it's silverware it's Wembley and it all comes down to this one game. The FA cup will feel massive if we get to the quarters, but if we get knocked out in the 3rd round then nobody will give a shit about it for another year.
Viva Posted 15 July 2016 Posted 15 July 2016 I'm never going to tell my future grandchildren about the time we consolidated our status as a financial powerhouse and global brand by finishing fvcking fourth. No, but you might tell them about the FA Cup win in 2018, or the league win in 2019. An FA Cup win and 10th place would probably see normality come back to Leicester in the next few years. A top 4 place, followed by another one the year after could well lead to more consistent attempts at winning trophies. If I knew we would never win anything again, then of course i'd take an FA Cup this season, but you just don't know how long we can continue this run yet.
foxy boxing Posted 15 July 2016 Posted 15 July 2016 if claudio wants a cup success he will have to play a full strength team and not change eleven players like he did last season, and will a cup run affect our league form, he needs to keep a settled side with changes made when necessary next season will be extremely difficult with three competitions and the league and everyone wanting to beat us

First it was "we shouldn't go after trophies coz we want promotion", then "coz we're fighting relegation", then "coz we need to consolidate with a decent league position". Now we're champions of England and there's still an excuse! We're a club living in the moment and yet people would still rather hold off on chasing trophies!

Priority for me would clearly be League, then Champions League. I'd rather not play full strength teams in the League Cup and FA Cup at this stage. Pretty simple really. That doesn't mean that I don't want to win those trophies, but there has to be priorities. I assume you was unhappy when we didn't play a full strength team in the FA Cup last season?

Going out in the League Cup to Hull was nothing short of an embarrassment. Back to my point though, what position would we have to be in for winning Cups to be a priority for you?

Do you not think full strength teams in both tournaments would have affected our league position at all? Taken that bit of an edge off our speed players? If we was out of the top 6 by Christmas for example, then I would focus on trying our best to win a cup. There is no way I would be full strength in the League Cup until at least the quarter finals.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 15 July 2016 Posted 15 July 2016 A top 10/6 finish Community Shield win FA Cup/League Cup win Competitive in Europe Then for the 2017/18 season, expanded ground perhaps if success continues next season, and the ground is consistently full.

There is no way I would be full strength in the League Cup until at least the quarter finals. Only if we kept the same 11 in every game. That was Ranieri's plan last season, have a fixed first 11 in the league and give fringe players a chance in the cups. Next season we will have a bigger squad more games and more players to keep happy. We will also have other teams trying to work us out. Next season we could see a return of the tinkerman Kante and Drinkwater one week, Drinkwater and Mendy the next, Kante and Mendy the following week. Manage the players differently, keep them all fresh for all competitions. Likewise Morgan, Huth and Hernandez or Vardy, Musa and Okazaki or Mahrez, Gray, Schlupp and Albrighton. I would have total faith in any formation/lineup you could make out of those combinations, throw Ulloa, King and James in there and then it is only Schmeichel, Fuchs and Simpson that don't have genuine competition for places. Which means with clever management and avoiding injuries we can put out a full strength team in all competitions all season.
RonnieTodger Posted 15 July 2016 Posted 15 July 2016 FA Cup > 4th any day for me. People act as if the revenue from the Champions League is going into their own pockets. Obviously I'd like us to sustain a place at the top but we're in the Champions League now.
GeorgeTheFox Posted 15 July 2016 Posted 15 July 2016 My Dad has been to every single FA cup final that we have lost. It would mean so much to him for us to win it finally. Absolutely no reason why we can't... Our style of play should suit cup footballu
GaelicFox Posted 15 July 2016 Posted 15 July 2016 Please let's not be a 4th place hunting team We need to win trophies
