Walsh to Everton - Official

From last year's massive high, I'm starting to feel quite depressed!

I hope the club act quickly to stabilise and ensure the longevity of the backroom staff, particularly the remaining scouts, who have presumably learned a lot through working under Walsh.

Kante was the first choice when Pearson was here, we bid on him before Ranieri even arrived.... when he did we went after Mendy, and the stuff about him started appearing.

The "Mendy first choice" thing was something I heard a week or so ago, so may be wrong. But it was said that we were after him in 2015 (pre-Ranieri), and finally got our man. Either way, I think he's a class act.

Don't think he is as much of a hero as everyone makes out. There's a big team of backroom staff who don't get the recognition they deserve.

For every Kante, Vardy and Mahrez there's a Neilson, Alex Bruce, Nicky Adams, McGivern, Miquel, Whitbread, Upson, Nick Powell, Kramaric, Fuctas, Kermorgant, N'Guessan.

Was Waghorn (cost a fortune) or has Matty James been a succesfull signing?

Best of luck to him.

The days of us unearthing cheap gems with potential went with our success.

I'd seen it said a few times so I did loads of googling and searching of news stories / twitter / rumours etc. From what I found and from what I remember Kante definitely looks a clear first choice to me. Not that it matters anyway! lol

Trials ..tribulations and challenges of the footballing world.

We went and got the title, Walsh, Kante are the only casualties.

New faces invested in.

And..AND  we still have some wuzzies still can only think of negatives, put gloom on

all actions and events!!!

We are in a new era, and instead of being optimistic, we have only pessimism, on this forum.

Glad you aint my employees.FFs no  wonder Britain is in a bloody  mess.

Now hang me..

When all is said and done, he's a scout.  A very good scout but a scout nonetheless.  At his time of life and stage of career, he's been offered a brilliant opportunity closer to family so can fully understand him taking it.

As for what happens next, his successful blueprint is already there and i'm sure many still here would have benefitted from his wisdom.  On top of that, we have one of the most experienced club managers in world football.  His experience and contacts will also help.

Whilst losing Walsh isn't ideal, it's a hole that can be plugged as is Kante.

With the additions to the squad so far we're stronger overall than when we finished the season.

Far more understandable than the Kante situation and despite us being Premier League champions, it's not like he's the one playing in Europe is it. Closer to home and probably on more money.

It is gutting and what he did was incredible, but it's not like that's us done unearthing gems now. Surely we've got adequate people lined up or already here.

People don't seem to be realising this was also a promotion job wise on top of other reasons for moving.  From assistant manager/head scout to director of football.

Be really interested to see who they sign before the start of the season. I'd expect it'd take a good twelve months just to set up the scouting network correctly. It's not going to make a massive difference to Everton in the sort term.

Thanks for everything, going off for a cry now.

Waghorn left ages ago, get a grip.

As expected I suppose. It's difficult to see him move on because he found players for us who have shined at the top level of English football. He saw their ability, recruited them for incredible prices & played a very important role in one of our club's greatest ever achievements (so far).

Everton have themselves a man of real class in what he does. I was reluctant & sorry to post this thread, because I knew it would be sad/hard to see him move given what he's done for the club.

****. Not even gone to a good, or big club.

Come on Everton are a decent club with a new exciting project. It's less about the club and more about all the other bits anyway

Wonder if lack of comment from our end shows the clubs dislike of the way this all went down.... or it's just the usual ineptness and i'm reading too much into it?

Thanks for the signings Steve.

A cog in the machine has gone. Parts wear out and need replacing, but they're replaced and the machine moves on. Even vital components get replaced and we keep on running.

One man team? Nah!

One man club? Don't make me laugh! lol

Chins up chaps!

Oh come on. What is wrong with some people? All those shite players you've just listed cost **** all in terms of transfer fees and wages (except Krama) and few of them were useful enough.

Sven signed Waghorn and yes of course Matty James has been a successful signing ffs. If you don't agree with that your head is in the sand.

While he was here we signed our entire promotion squad, the team that stayed up and a team that won the PREMIER LEAGUE. He has been absolutely integral to our success and should leave with nothing but our respect and gratitude.

Just have a look at some of the shit other teams from the likes of Burnley up to those like Liverpool have signed in the same time span.

You also have to remember some of the players we've been targeting this transfer window. Deeny and Bradey on ridiculously inflated fee's. He's good at spotting players but how good is he at actually signing them?

Done a great job whilst here, by no means irreplaceable though

I'm actually pretty surprised he's taken a job that potentially could mean he's got less time to actually scout players and may just be relying on other people at the club to do it. It's not like he's going to be going out and watching players every week now is it.

Well one of those names only cost major money. They were loans and frees, players you take a gamble on.

Waghorn was signed for a fee when Walsh was at Hull.

James was part of our promotion team.

The blokes record is superb. Fingers crossed we don't lose the scouting team as normally the case when a head scout moves on

Well the signing part that's Rudkin's job......

Well this is the point I'm trying to make, he's not gone to Everton to be their chief scout or assistant, he's gone there to be their director of football. So he's basically now doing the same job Rudkin is doing here. And like I said, he may be good at identifying players, but how good is he at actually signing them. I guess time will tell.
