Walsh to Everton - Official

Only time will tell how big of a loss this is but right now it feels like a bit of a kick in the bollocks. Everton could be in for some exciting times with the money invested and a top class scout at the helm. All the best Walshy (you ****) lol

As I said in another thread, a promotion, more money and a chance to work closer to his homeland is exactly what we were offering Troy Deeney. Yet somehow they were able to resist this magical amazing potion of an offer, and he had no interest in coming here. This when we are champions and they are bottom half.

Now bottom half comes for a key member of staff here, one that signed a new contract 2 bloody months ago, and we just bend over and let him walk?

Something doesn't seem right here.

I can understand why money is more important and trophies less so to non-playing staff, but Everton ffs. We've won 3 major trophies since they last won one, and we've not been in the top flight for half of that.

I would like to see some ambition from our club now, they need to do something to indicate they want to at least try to carry on achieving. This is the best if not the only chance we'll ever get to make ourselves a substantially bigger club and we are just embarrassing ourselves. Shit.

If the information that I have read is correct Steve Walsh is 61.

No doubt Everton have bumped his wages up significantly that if all this goes tits up he can be retired with his feet up in twelve months time saving himself a further thirty six months if he had stayed with us.

It is the club that remains with us forever the players and staff move on.

Consider a scenario where we have a season like Chelsea had last and the manager goes, a new manager moves in and all the backroom staff get moved on.

It happens in life - we must enjoy what we have and have had and move on to the next chapter

I'm disappointed, upset, concerned, uptight, excited about the next phase but that is what makes it all worth doing.

See you all in Glasgow tomorrow - we are in Europe and I for one intend to have one hell of a ball !!!!!

It's funny how many people are happy with the 'we only want people who want to be here' rule until it boils down to it.

If Walsh doesn't want to be at the Champions of England then, frankly, that's his problem.

All the best Walshy but now is the time for both of us to move on.

If Roberto Martinez were a better manager, this would not have happened.

I seriously don't understand all the fuss and panic over his departure, 3 top class signings in the six years he was at the club, what about the flop signings under probably under is recommendation, kramaric, benalouane etc.

Let him go to Everton where they'll just remain pointless and as average as ever!

Bit unfair

benalouane was nowt to do with him imo

krama would have had more opportunities if Pearson had stayed. He hasn't exactly flopped at hoffenheim. Last time I saw was at the euros!

much easier paying a high price for an established player than what we have been doing. Perhaps the owners are intending to change to that more 'big club' psyche now.

How many of the current side were purchased under his watch? Not Kasper or kingy but all the rest.

If if we are now at the 'top table' of the PL thren perhaps we can cope with his departure better. If we slip back then will become tougher but he wouldn't have hung around for years and years anyway.

The list of signings made whilst Walsh was head of recruitment is impressive, anyone who can't see that has their head in the sand. From bringing in experienced heads when needed, Was, Phillips, Huth or promising young players, Drinkwater, James, Mahrez, RDL, Knocky not to mention Mahrez, Kante, Vardy and the rest of our title winning team (except Kasper) even looking back he brought the likes of Tunchev, Dyer, Jack Hobbs to the club in league one his successes out weigh his failures by 3-1. Upson was injured and free, Kramaric like Ben Marshall had the talent but lacked the application. Players like Moussa, N'Guessen, Adams, Whitbread, Nielsen, Bakayogo all played a part but they were squad players signed on the cheap you can't make 6/7 signings a season and they all become first team regulars.

Walsh I thank you for everything you did for this club and I won't even blame you for Kermogant. I am gutted you have left but I believe you have left a very good scouting network behind and the short term effects will be minimal and the long term impact will be minimal if we put the right person in charge of recruitment ro keep up the good work. On a personal level I wish him all the best on a professional level I don't give 2 shits about Everton and they can get relegated for all I care. Cheers SW now stay away from our players.

Does this mean we can return to singing "There's only one Steve Walsh ..."

Posted

feels like we are getting picked off at every opportunity by other clubs now, but we will carry on and be a force to be reckoned with. if they want what you have then they fear you?

Just now, Strokes said:

We never sung that anyway

You're so boring.

We can't sing " He's here, he's there ......" anymore.

We'll have to sing "He's there, he's there, he's everywhere but here, Stevey Walsh" :P

So Walshy has been quoted as saying thats its 'exciting' going to Everton who have a new manager and a new major shareholder (putting money into the club)' ....    'a proud and historic club'  ...     hang on a minute ...    that sounds like us too !!!       What a load of cock !    Nope that doesn't wash with me Walshy ....    the reason you broke your contract ...     $$$$$:)$$$$$$.

Oh, and by the way ...   Everton are increasing their attempts to get Sigurdsson and ....   a certain Mr Kasper Schmeichel ?!? ...   oooh what a surprise.

Yeah what's all the panic, the man has only signed the players that got us out of league one, the championship and won the premier league.

Every scout will have flops, some because they aren't as good as he thought, others for many other reasons, like manager changes. Most of the "flops" people chuck about under him cost bugger all, free transfers signed in lower leagues... what were people expecting?

Life goes on, but lets not make our he's not been an absolutely massive part of where we are.

Everton axe move for Leicester ace as part of transfer deal: Newcastle and Chelsea options

EVERTON have shelved their interest in Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel as part of the deal that saw Steve Walsh installed as their new director of football.

Walsh will not target any Leicester players for Everton in the transfer window in the wake of his own defection from the King Power this week.

Leicester were reluctant to lose their assistant manager and head of recruitment with Walsh credited with the signings of N'Golo Kante and Riyad Mahrez and pushed to ensure they would not be susceptible to immediate raids of their squad.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman had been interested in recruiting Schmeichel as his new No 1 having already brought in Dutch shot-stopper Maarten Stekelenburg from Fulham.

Joel Robles is currently in situ at Goodison Park.

Newcastle's Tim Krul – who is coming back from injury - remains on Everton's list of alternatives, while Chelsea's Asmir Begovic is an option.

Leicester have offered Schmeichel a new contract as the champions seek to prevent their squad from fragmenting further.

Walsh held talks with Koeman yesterday as Everton's recruitment drive prepares to move forward with the likes of Moussa Sissoko of Newcastle and Swansea’s Gylfi Sigurdsson under discussion.

Newcastle have placed a £35m price-tag on Sissoko and it is unlikely Everton would be prepared to meet that valuation despite the presence of new major shareholder Farhad Moshiri.

You cannot underestimate the guys roll here and the part he paid in getting us here but we have evolved. For all the people on here almost wishing misfortune on us we are more than a 1 man recruitment set up. Would imagine when he came back with Pearson it was far easier to pick up players to find unknown players to improve us and get us out of the championship. The teams we now aim to compete with probably did not look into the player pools we were scouting at the time. Many of our really successful finds took time to settle a luxury our new players will not have. WE now aim to find people to compete at the very highest level and even having the talent to unearth these does not mean you get them. Walsh is undoubtedly hampered by his own reputation, do people really think it is that easy to push through a transfer and keep it off the radar off everybody else, the conduct of agents and selling clubs suggest otherwise. We seemed to have plenty lined up last season that ended up going elsewhere. the infrastructure of the club had a massive impact on our title and there is certainly more to us than 1 man however good. Walsh was part of a successful team that is here and can still be added to and some seem to forget this .

People want to make something out of the reason he left, better job title with better pay, his age, going back to his roots and family is a good enough reason for me, many on here want it to be some scandal but what if it was Jon Rudkin not sanctioning the purchase of Jordan Vertout who we had clearly scouted and identified as a target.

No issue with Walsh. We were all pleased for Powell when he went off to be a gaffer in his own right.

This is Walsh's equivalent. He's gone off to be his own boss, Everton offered him a better position.

Bit disappointed our owners didn't give him a crack here but that isn't his fault. Fair play.

Good luck Walsh. Played a massive part in our alongside Pearson and Ranieri. Deserves every bit of success he gets.

No more departures now though please!
