A lot of you need to go and read about the FFP rules.  No matter how much the owners would like to, they cannot spend, spend, spend all they like without repercussions, which would result in heavy fines if FFP rules are breached. Yes, we are about to get increased commercial revenue (quite a crapload) but it doesn't mean that we can go out and spend it all on players and, more importantly, wages.  Read http://www.financialfairplay.co.uk/ and http://swissramble.blogspot.co.uk/2016/03/leicester-city-sweet-dreams-are-made-of.html for more information.

Also, just think back to last season and how most of us were crowing about achieving the impossible without spending loads and criticising those silly old top 4 clubs wildly spending and how it did them no good and then look at what a whole lot of you are now proposing - wild spending.  The whole success was built on the whole being greater than the sum of its parts. That calculation falls apart if we spend too much on the parts.

So how do man city get away with spending loads?

There not a massive club like man utd or real madrid ect? They dont fill their stadium like them every week its embarrassing? Do they even have a worldwide fan base... the only thing i know is they got very very rich arabs. So how can they comply with FFP???????

A lively CDM will do for me. Maybe a young RB.

WE have 4 strikers and CB's. Enough.

One thing last season proved was without Jamie Vardy we struggled and the friendleys have proved the same

Good grief... go and read the flipping links I posted! You've chosen the single worst example with Man City!

I don't completely disagree but we did hit 4 against Swansea and drew at Old Trafford in the two games without JV - i wouldn't say we struggled.

"4-0 to the one man team".

Club poised for a spend or is it some back peddling from the media. Remember favourites for relegation and CR sacked, all season many waited for us to falter and fall away however good or bad our rivals were last season you can only beat those in front of you and we did and some. The press had us down for a mass exodus this summer with the owners cashing in. Think it is fair to say the club knew Kante would go and they have looked to bring in decent additions to the squad believe the story is more about owners saving face. Were they not on about West Ham and Everton spending big and the usual Arsenal stories.about vast spending on strikers that never happens, lots of people trying to justify a wage

I thought you could increase quite significantly if there were exceptional circumstances I.e you've just won the league on a pittance and are now competing with the main men in the Champions League.

Re: the striker situation - I think Vardy, Ulloa, Musa and Okazaki are good enough strike options for us. Vardy will score goals with his pace and finishing, Ulloa is a tidy finisher, and has an instinct in the box, Musa as similar to Vardy has pace which will create goalscoring chances alongside his skill, and Okazaki for me will add to his goal record next season & will continue to progress having had a season's experience in the top flight.

Let's look at Drinkwater, Morgan and Schmeichel, they all had a season in the PL and that, alongside the tactical class of Claudio, developed them into well known stars at this level. Okazaki could well be the same.

I would like another proven Premier League goal scorer, I can't deny that but I do have faith in the options we have.

I think the after-season tour was done for the purpose of FFP rules: It was a way to prove how popular LCFC are in Thailand. Because of this, King Power can pay more for its sponsorship deal (since owners have to prove "fair value" when they also own a sponsoring company). It also will help in re-negotiating contracts with other Thai sponsors, as well as other international sponsors (DHL, Nissan, etc.). I expect the sponsorship revenue will see exponential growth. This is why I think it is important to keep the team together for the next season, even if good business can be made: It shows sponsors the club is serious about staying in the top tier. Another good season, with a top six finish, and possibly another trophy (even a League Cup), keeps the club in Europe, which means the club can cash in on players wanting to leave, without giving the impression of a fire sale: Especially if some of the younger players signed in the past year have worked themselves into the first team, providing continuity going into the next season.

Musa will be there to chip in so it would be nice to see him start against Barcelona with Vardy.

I don't think we are to far away tbh , we've signed some promising youngsters and demary looks like he could make a big impact this season . And kaputska coming enhances the youth side.

Just needed a solid number ten who has all round ability in passing, shooting and controlling play which okazaki can't do ...slimani is the big money answer but for a cheaper option I still say have a pop at van persie for 1 year .....canvassing worked out ok

I'd like to think that our striking options are sorted. But it would be interesting to see what each striker's chance conversion rate was last season (including Musa). We may only get one or two chances against the big Champions League teams. Obviously, truly lethal forwards like Suarez, Messi and Aguero are not exactly ten a penny and tend to play for sides creating buckets of chances against any side.

I get the feeling that the owners would love to throw a bit more cash around really. I'd expect us to have one more surprise in the locker.

Even if we broke FFP the penalty is only a fine isnt it?

Man City got a £49m fine and a transfer embargo.  This place would spontaneously combust if that happened to us.

This is my understanding of FFP too.

It's not just a case of spending more than you earn, it's being within a certain percentage of your previous year's budget to persuade people from growing too quickly and falling to Earth with a bump if it goes wrong. However, there are certain circumstances where this % growth can be overlooked and I'm sure winning the PL and completing in the CL would provide us with a good case, providing of course, that we could demonstrate an ability to cope should the worse case scenario occur. I'm sure our owners could financially offer up a solution to that.

Someone mentioned Man City earlier. By today's rules, neither Man City or Chelsea would have been able to have spent as wildly as they did when they were taken over by wealthy owners.

I sort of agree. As mentioned above, we got two good results last season but at the minute he still looks like our only striker with a real goal threat.

ah right didnt realise it was that severe. However 49m is chump change to them.

Edit wonder where that 49m went. Guess some one needed a new yacht.

£49mill is probably fvck all to them though. Think about how rich they are. That's why I've said before a fine is pointless, needs to be more severe than that. FFP never has made sense.

FFP isn't a law, it's a regulation. And I agree with the posters above that because we have been exceptionally successful we can spend more.

In my (no legal) opinion we could clearly take them to the EU (HAHAHA!!) for anti competition.

The issue is wages and not the fees, when we got promoted wages were £57m the first season, I think we can assume that went us significantly last season and will do again massively for the season coming.

So whilst we might be flush the coming season, the club aren't going to budget for that happening every year. In two years time income will drop, wages will continue to rise.... and we might be wanting to find £20m to increase the capacity.

The owners have repeatedly said they want the club to stand on its own two feet, so we aren't going to spend more than comes in. They will see last seasons cash as a bonus that can help us over several years and not just one summer.

Chasing a dream of trying to defend our title us a dangerous thing to do. Lets put our faith in them to continue running us in an ambitious, but level headed manner.

There has been a few clubs that have not complied to ffp and got a fine and a transfer embargo! But who cares i dont care who we sign aslong as they are good enough and fit into our team without disturbing it! Would like to see some more british players come in though! Think we missed out on not signing joe allen!
