FuchingKante Posted 29 August 2016 Posted 29 August 2016 If we manage to sign him and Slimani then our squad will be incredibly strong imo Vardy/Musa

Sorry for my english for it's not my native language. I can tell that Adrien Silva is the engine of Sporting's midfield. He's a tireless box-to-box, skillful and with a good long distance shot. He's a flawless penalty taker, and one of the Portugal midfield key players. It's hard to see Slimani, Adrien and João Mario go in an week timespan. Adrien was in Sporting since his 12 years old, it's our captain, and loved by the supporters. The 25M€ bid is a bargain for a player like this. I'm wet.
NeilLCFC Posted 29 August 2016 Posted 29 August 2016 I know you won't believe us, I know you won't believe us... We're gonna win the league

Is he good at interceptions and tackles?
FuchingKante Posted 29 August 2016 Posted 29 August 2016 If we manage to sign him and Slimani then our squad will be incredibly strong imo bar maybe a central defender Vardy/Musa Slimani/Ulloa/Okazaki Schlupp/gray - Silva/King/Drinkwater - Mendy/Amartey/Kapustka - Mahrez/Albrighton Chilwell/Fuchs - Hernandez/Morgan - Huth/Wasilewski - Simpson/Amartey Zieler/Schmeichel Genuinely believe we'll have 2 starting 11s capable of a top 10 finish

But then comes the age old question of keeping highly paid, highly paid for players happy, and on the bench. That's a lot of money for shared duties!

I'm sure if he couples up with Was in the gym he'll be fine after a few sessions.

champions 08/09 Posted 29 August 2016 Posted 29 August 2016 I think this is a real statement of a signing from us. Sounds a real player, a leader and a great penalty taker, he started in many of Portugals games to win the euros and was one of the engines of their team, champions league experience aswell. Every sporting fan adores him which tells its own story. Get it done!
dbtcity Posted 29 August 2016 Posted 29 August 2016 I can't be the only naturally pessimistic lcfc fan that just doesn't see this happening.... Hope I'm wrong

The first year he played on Sporting first team he played as Defensive Midfielder and though he can do it, he's not that great. However, when he came from loan from Academica (where he played as box-to-box and playmaker) he returned as a more skilled and more tactical player. I would not recommend Adrien for defensive midfielder, but he's very good in interceptions and tackles. He's also a very aggressive player (in a good way), he never gives up. His heading ability must be his lower point... he's not very tall, and the heading skill is not the best, but everything else he's great, including the dribbling, pace and resistance. But he has to have a strong midfielder besides, like we have William Carvalho. He made 3 fantastic seasons as box-to-box in Sporting's first Team, and it will be hard to see him leave.

Koke Posted 29 August 2016 Posted 29 August 2016 Flawless penalty taker? Sign him up. No more Mahrez pens from now on Insha Allah.

Drinkwater could end up taking more of the traditional DM role. he he is not Kante but he is very active in covering the back 4 when needed. But what a midfield we have now, DD/Adrien/Mendy/Amartety/King James and Kaputska (even though he will more liely play on the wing)

We saw against Hull how stifled he was. I'm not sure this bloke fits into our starting 11 at all.
irishmenfox Posted 29 August 2016 Posted 29 August 2016 Think this is a further example of Ranieri potentially playing the 4-3-3, especially in the tougher games
