Tomatoes are unsuitable for sandwiches as they slip out out as you take a bite.

Only if you hold sarnies between your forefinger and thumb, with your pinky raised

Tripe is the worst I've  ever tried to eat  I puked up after the first mouthful,  next is gorganzola cheese.

My mum used to cook tripe. The smell was dreadful, like a slaughterhouse. Luckily I had fish fingers as I refused to eat it.

They used to have neck too. Not sure whose neck, but it was basically bones with a tiny bit of meat on it. Neck was dreadful, but I could eat it. Never ever had tripe, I almost threw up when it was being cooked.

Leather? You eat leather?

My mother-in-law serves it up all the time.

It starts out as a steak.

Bottled Brown Ale.  2 point something percent. Less than a quid a bottle.

Fray Bentos steak and kidney pie in a tin.

Brawn anyone ? As a kid I loved it until I saw how it was made when I was at a pork butcher once - boiling up a pigs head with all the snot and eyeballs and stuff - yum !

Also pigs trotters

I can't believe gammon, egg and chips got brought up. There's nothing old about that meal whatsoever. Shocking shout.

Do kippers count? With a bit of bread and butter.

How about dripping on toast? DELICIOUS!

Anyone still have sugar on buttered bread?

Sago or semolina pudding?

Kippers in the morning with a poached egg on top with a side of buttered bread. Best breakfast you could hope for.

Dumplings in your stew.

Stew for that matter as they try to cal it something else now

Dumplings are the best part of stew! What else is it called then? I've never heard it called anything other than stew

Not a poached egg fan, but still works with scrambled egg. Breakfast of champions without doubt!

Fruit has absolutely no place on a plate with a piece of meat IMHO. Not even in curries or apple sauce or anything. Go away fruit and be gone with you to fruit salads and all things dessert.

Mango chutney and curry? :(

Ne'er a truer word were spoken! A special place in hell for chefs who put orange and plum sauces on meats....

Mind you I had apple flavoured ice cream with my slow cooked pork belly and crackling and it was BLOODY LOVELY ....      slobbering at the mouth just thinking about it !!

Sounded pretty weird when I first saw it though ...

People talking about Haslet has me thinking. I've had a couple of heated discussions with the missus about this. How are you all pronouncing haslet?

Has-let

Haze-let

The OH  says the second one and it drives me bonkers

Pork and apple sauce is just about OK, so I guess it makes sense.... was the ice cream really sweet though? Would rather just have it as a dessert.....

There is only one way to say it Wipe and that, as you have correctly pointed out, is Has-let ...    and if anyone says different, they are a cock.

Pronounced COCK.   :)

Not too sweet and it really really worked ...   when I stay at this pub in Norfolk I have it every time.
