Albrighton is looking dross this season (with a couple of better performances), but generally ineffectual.

Surely we have to bring Gray in for Albrighton at some point?

If Mendy is back, I'd go 4-1-4-1

                                         Kasper

Simpson                           Big Wes.          Bobby Huth.               Fuchs

.                                         Amartey

Mahrez.                              Drinks.         Mendy.                          Gray

.                                         Slim

With Gray and Mahrez getting early crosses into Slim to exploit the very shaky Chelsea defence.

That's a very good formation there with a lot of potential. I actually think that formation could suit our system well.

Agreed with most of the previous - would rather see Vardy full throttle for 20 minutes at the end of a game (against somewhat tiring centrebacks) than a Vardy without 100% commitment/effort for 90. Albrighton can be hit and miss but has important moments in games - would like to see Gray given his chance to see if he does as much defensive cover as Albrighton. 4-5-1 is a must surely?

Remember 2 years ago we played Dean Hammond and Gary Taylor Fletcher in midfield away to Chelsea. I'm amazed Chelsea only won 2-0 that day. They ran away with the league that year

Close to this but:

                   Kasper

Simpson    Wes     Huth     Fuchs

                    Amartey

Musa               Drinkwater        Gray

                Mahrez

                      Slimani

Blimey Col, no offence, but I just did not expect you to come up with the alternative system that would suit our style and players the best. Right on Amartey 'holding' in front of the back four. The four across the park can then close down higher up the pitch. I think both Drinky and Papy can be very creative, with whichever three attackers best suit on any given day.

Do it Claudio. ( I been thinking all this since before the Liverpool match, but got slated after that match when some thought I was being over critical of Claudio for not spotting it then ).

That must be about the third post of yours on the bounce starting with 'Col, I didn't expect'. It's got boring mate. Cheers though. For me especially away from home, this has got to be the best use of the formation we have. It's no use playing Amartey in a 442. He's not a box to box player. He's a stopper, not both a stopper AND a playmaker in any sense. And surely Albrighton needs dropping at the moment with the kid Gray being given a go.

Christ what an awful team

I want Schlupp. Kante when playing properly seems to be able to understand the player to intercept. And I just don't think that'll be possible with Jeff.

I'm sorry but we dont have the players for 4-3-3. Who's supporting the lone striker from the middle? Only Drinkwater? He's our only box to box CM. That would be so slow and predictable. We need Shinji, 4-4-1-1/4-5-1 when defending.

Kasper

Hernandez Morgan Huth Fuchs

Albrighton Drinkwater Mendy Mahrez

Okazaki

Slimani

Agree except replace Albrighton with Demarai. Albrighton is a below average player and should never start in any PL team.

Get your point but 433 would mean more support in the middle so our wingers wouldn't have to track back and have their front to our goal so often. We'd be able to play more expansively possibly

Champions league group leading team, plays average top 10 EPL side.

Two - Nil to the Leicester.

Ever since pre season, we seem to be conceding 4 goals every other game by the looks of things, but I reckon we'll surprise a few. Still a defeat will be on the cards. Going for a 4-3 defeat, Slim with a brace and Okazaki clawing one back in stoppage time.

Im liking the 4-3-3 claims, need to get used to an extra body in midfield. No creativity and all is wasted with two men up front haplessly chasing loose balls from up high. Sacrifice not-in-form Vardy for Papy, if he's fully Mendy.

Don't think it'll be anything like our previous two away games. We'll go five in midfield and make it a lot closer, I still think a defeat is the most likely result but I don't expect us to ship four goals again. Honestly I get the impression some people are almost 'competing' to show how negative they can be with some of the predictions on this thread.

Good point because even Geoff doesn't know what he's going to do, our very own Paulo Wanchope.

Mendy should be fully fit for this game surely put him in a 3 man midfield ?

Yes, you'd think so. But that would mean dropping a striker (he defo won't go three at the back), so will it be Vardy or Slimani?

Most of our starting 11 is.

Our players were on top of their form last season. Only Drinkwater has actually looked class this season. As they say, 'class is permanent'.

But Albrighton offers defensive cover that Gray doesn't. We tried to go with Gray, Musa, Mahrez, Vardy at Hull and it didn't work.

Would love to see Mahrez allowed the freedom to move left to right behind the forward(s). His talent needs more time on the ball

It's ok boys, we'll lose this one emphatically....

BUT..... All this time, Captain Claudio has been planning our Champions League glory!... So he shifted ALL the focus and energy into winning that from day one of this season, hence the crap PL performances.... *Well, that's what I'm telling myself*

Have no fear, we'll finish 15th in the league but winning the CL will render that academic.

Who'll remember where we finished in the league in a few years time when they talk of us being Champions of England, then Champions of Europe the very next season? Exactly!
