I so wish it were different. and our strikers were hitting the back of the opponents net and our defenders keeping the ball out of ours. Fingers crossed for a big improvement.
Munshi Posted 16 November 2016 Posted 16 November 2016 Watching some of last seasons games back, we press from the first whistle to the last. Vardy, Albrighton and Shinji try to press the opposition defence into making a mistake and are unrelentless. Seems as though this season, Claudio has told them to relax a bit and we end up with 11 men behind the ball at home to West Brom.
jammie82uk Posted 16 November 2016 Posted 16 November 2016 Stat time Watford have never won in the Premier League against Leicester City, losing three by a single-goal margin and drawing the other meeting. However, Leicester have only won two of their last eight games at Vicarage Road, drawing once and losing five (inc Championship playoffs). The Hornets have kept just one clean sheet in their last 16 home games against Leicester in all competitions. Leicester are 10 points worse off now (12) than they were at this stage last season (22), the biggest points differential between this season and last by any Premier League team. Troy Deeney has been involved in five goals in his last six games against the Foxes in all competitions (three goals and two assists). Deeney has scored 99 goals in all competitions for Watford, but has been stuck on this tally since October 1st having failed to score in his last four appearances for the Hornets. This will be Claudio Ranieri's 50th Premier League game in charge of Leicester City, he's won 26 of the previous 49 (D15 L8). Watford have never beaten a reigning Premier League champion, though did draw with Chelsea twice last season (L4). Robert Huth could make his 300th Premier League appearance in this match, becoming the first German player to reach this milestone in the competition. The Hornets have had eight different goalscorers this season, as many as they had in the entire 2015/16 season. All four of Islam Slimani's goals for Leicester in all competitions so far have been headed goals. Watford have conceded the most headed goals this season in the Premier League (8).

The change in this tactic makes no sense whatsoever as it served us so, so well last year. If this Claudio's Plan B, he needs to go back to what worked last season. If the players are now too lazy to do the donkey work, as at times he has intimated, then chuck them out pronto and get some other bastards in that will do it ffs. Is he being too soft with them or what?

Instead this season he seems to be reluctant to make as many subs as he did last year even though we're playing more games and traveling more miles. Bizarre.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 16 November 2016 Posted 16 November 2016 Come on Leicester we need to win this one
foxes21 Posted 16 November 2016 Author Posted 16 November 2016 Deeneys on 99 goals for Watford? He will definately score at the weekend

RoyFox Posted 17 November 2016 Posted 17 November 2016 You can be pretty certain Watford will try and swamp the midfield, expect 5. Claudio's got to put his thinking cap on. Okazaki is going to be jetlagged, I think it would be worth playing just Vardy up front in a 433. 442 could be risky unless Vardy and Slimani are willing to run themselves into the ground with a high press. This is going to be a battle and a half that's for sure!
NewEnglandFox Posted 17 November 2016 Posted 17 November 2016 Drinky has to play. I don't like Claudio's quote saying he will check fitness tomorrow.
RoyFox Posted 17 November 2016 Posted 17 November 2016 If Drinkwater doesn't start....I'm going to cack myself

RonnieTodger Posted 17 November 2016 Posted 17 November 2016 If Drinkwater is out then I really don't envy Claudio picking a team for this. Amartey and King pairing

Prepare for sideways passing galore and immense pressure lumbered on our wingers as a result. If Drinky is injured put your mortgage on Watford, especially as they'll play five in midfield!

Claudio and crew have really dropped a gonad on not having a backup for drinky!!

Ted Maul Posted 17 November 2016 Posted 17 November 2016 Who knows, maybe King and Amartey will complement each other well? Seriously though, Watford would pass through them like Subbuteo. King isn't the best defensively, and Amartey doesn't seem to realise that players can run in behind him.
smudgerfox Posted 17 November 2016 Posted 17 November 2016 I think it would be worth playing just Vardy up front in a 433. Genius
