Watford away pre match

When do matches become 'must win'?

I really feel we mustn't lose this game. Watford are one of the more average sides in the Prem and to go away and lose wouldn't be clever.

Col, I generally agree, with you but not on this. Or I am misinterpreting what you are saying...

We this season are Ourselves in a fight for that middle ground (average sides).

Watford have found themselves a good level in the PL. Like WBA, Stoke, we are in direct competition

at present with such sides.Watford is and will be no push over...Doesnt mean we cant stop tipping the balance

before end of the year.Underrating sides on wishing us to be better, doesnt cut it for me.

We are still in the business of HAVING to earn the right to, be seen has a top 12 side. So far we have been

Lacking, on performances..

We have been diabolical in the league so far. Kante aside, our remaining, highly paid players have generally been poor so far.

Sure a hangiver of sorts from from last season might have been expected. But this is a team more than capable of doing better than we have so far.

I fear another turgid display and a loss away at Watford. Sad to say but my team is back to its erratic, infuriating best.

I think we'll win this. It's the kind of thing we do. We lose our unbeaten home record, then go and play away without an away win all season and end that run straight after.

Kante? Are you an ostrich?

I think they will turn us over. We look fragile at the moment and they will be feeling up for it following their humiliation at the hands of Liverpool. At the moment we're easy pickings for most teams in the league, especially away from home.

the players need to train hard for this one because we need to get back on track.we have not been at full speed for a while and we definately need a strong engine room and can't have players just blowing steam. we need a first class approach and can't afford to carry any passengers.we can't get side tracked or rail roaded by the opposition.

You'd think so, wouldn't you?

Can see this being a fast-pace, end-to-end game.

This will be as big a test as Liverpool away seriously. They will be stung by their defeat to them and won't go lightly in terms of their play.

Would settle in grabbing an early or late winner tbh.

Great post from @Domsdad above. For some reason I can't reply directly?

I've had the same thoughts. Amartey is at his worst when he's turned and is having to run toward goal to defend. He looks more composed with the ball and the opponent in front of him. That said, we haven't seen him play CB yet I don't think? I just have a feeling Deeney would turn him inside out.

They are not a bad side at all on their day, Watford. If we serve up the same shite we did against West Brom Deeney will have a fair few "Deeney" moments.

Lose this weekend and I think the bored will start to loosen their ties a little.

We've no chance on current form...I predict 2-0 to Watford. Reached the point where  I expect a ruined week following our fixtures....thank fcuk for the brill memories of last season. Still can't bring myself to watch the WBA match, watched Everton home game from last year instead a few times....at least It makes me happy again for a while.

They're a solid team overall, from what I've seen. On their day they can be very good. I hope we can get back to winning ways for this one, and our upcoming fixtures is an opportunity to do just that. I can see a draw too though.

Last year's Andy King strike sealed a relatively nervy 1-0 win.

I can't say I expect the same result this year. I'd probably take a draw, but we better show some life.

Thought Riyad scored at Watford? I was there... I hate getting old!

For all this doom and gloom remember before West Brom we drew away in the Champions League, drew at Spurs and beat Palace.

i know we're not in great form, but neither are  we completely hopeless

The thought of Amartey in the back line frightens the shite out of me tbh.

Same could be said about playing Huth and Morgan as ball playing centre halves. Tbh it does make you wonder why we didn't splash 12 million for Dragovic or the 20 mil for Keane, both are good with the ball at their feet and decent defensively

I guess what I'm saying mate is that we aren't far off fighting a relegation battle, let alone languishing in mid table mediocrity. It's games like Watford that define whether a team remains near the bottom or starts moving up the table. Points wise, it's not a 'must win'. Psychologically I think it's a 'must not lose'.
