Claudio will always be a god for his achievement last year but that does not mean he cannot be criticised and for me we are dull, one paced and not very organised so he has some sorting out to do and initially when he joined us he seemed to spot things and changes things whereas now he does not seem as proactive. Some players peaked in their careers last year and will never hit those heights again but the spirit and work rate seems lacking as well as a general lack of confidence. Player recruitment was awful in my opinion - Zieler (Average), Hernandez (Centre Half not a right back so no comment as not played there yet), Musa (Average), Mendy (Injured), Slimani (I struggle to see how he fits last season's system and £30m for a 29/30 year old with a touch of a clogger) - all in all we have not strengthened and it shows! January will be massive not just because of the Window but AFCON - I never thought we would be Top 6 but neither should we be Bottom 6 and unless something changes that is where we will stay based upon what we have seen to date. Claudio needs to shake it up and hopefully 3 points on Tuesday and he can bin the Champions League as an excuse until February !!

ian_marshall Posted 19 November 2016 Posted 19 November 2016 I have to disagree with the majority on here tonight. Aside from the two goals we conceded I thought we played pretty well. With Watford being the home team the emphasis was on them to attack but apart from the two goals Watford offered nothing. Admittedly we need to be a bit more clinical in front of goal but we seemed to get the ball into the right areas today. Unfortunately, our attackers are so low on confidence that no one wants to take responsibility of the ball and try their luck. As such when we got into good areas the ball was either held up waiting for other players to join the attack, laid off to another player in a worse position, or just crossed in desperation hoping that someone would get on the end of it. We do however have to stop conceding sloppy goals though as it puts us on the back foot immediately and gives us a mountain to climb whilst piling the pressure on. The ref was awful and the Watford players really made the most of his poor judgement. Everything seemed to go their way today but ultimately he wasn't the reason why we lost. On a more positive note, I was pleased to see Ranieri replace Fuchs with Schlupp as Amrabaat was doing everything in his power to try and get Fuchs sent off and it was only a matter of time before we went down to 10 men. Furthermore, Schlupp was excellent when he came on and really had a good go at their full back. Overall, whilst it was a disappointing result I saw enough today to suggest that we have enough not to get drawn in to a relegation battle. Whilst we aren't picking up results we certainly aren't producing the level of performances teams like Swansea, Sunderland, Hull, etc. are churning out week in week out. For whatever reason, and there are many, things simply haven't clicked as yet. Claudio will get it right, we just need to be patient and not overreact. The quality is there.

They had three giant fellas at the back and we simply didn't move them about enough. Watford were very solid and organised, but we asked so few questions of them. On an aside, their game management was excellent. Made every challenge a soap opera and a panel discussion on the pitch. They strangled the life out of us and manoeuvred the numpty officials well. Not pretty, but I applaud it's efficiency.

Little shape, no width and lacked the rapid attacking penetration of last year.... We'll come good...... off to watch the Championship DVD....

Kante was THE reason we could play the 442 how we did. Anyone underestimating this was not watching us last season and definitely isn't watching us this.

I predicted in the week that Vardy was going to get a minimum of two goals today and that I was going to bet on him. Fortunately, as soon as I saw the starting team today, I didn't place the bet. Phew.

The same players who were dynamic last season, looked more like a bunch of amateurs. I still believe the players are living on last season's success, and have no passion.

I quite agree our recruitment for the engine room has been woeful, and yet we've stockpiled attacking options with no one to feed them.

Have to admit predicted we'd struggle in this pre match. What's next plan Claudio?
