theadmans Posted 19 November 2016 Posted 19 November 2016 ... really depressed tonight. How much of this due to Schmeichel's big mouth not organizing the defense ? Thought Okazaki was poor today - normally a good effort from him but maybe he was tired from overseas duty don't know ?

Okay it was always going to be impossible to reach the highs of last season but is it possible for the players to feel confused and bored. Like the players must be thinking "Yeah we've won the title aren't we going to attempt to retain it, but the gaffer is just talking about a mid table finish! what's that's all about!?" Also allowing one of your top players go so easy and making comments like "if they want to go they can go?". Don't like criticising Claudio but sometimes makes you think. We're not mid table stock at the mo. Claudio is talking shit, and needs to get his teams ass in gear. Today was really poor

Today Schlupp just knocked the ball past the fullback down the line and sprinted past him, whereas Musa kept cutting in on his right foot into 2/3 players and got tackled. If musa just went round the outside and used his pace Everytime he'd get in behind far more often We could try playing the wingers on their correct sides,so they aren't always predictably cutting inside for at least half a game this season.Ranieri seems to not like changing losing ways.
ealingfox Posted 19 November 2016 Posted 19 November 2016 Don't think we deserved to lose today. We were the better team for large spells of the game. Two half-chances have ended up in their goals and apart from Zieler's save they did fvck all else. Our problem is creating chances, it's a big issue now. Very few attempts on target in every game, and you very rarely win games without them.

oxford blue Posted 19 November 2016 Posted 19 November 2016 It's a pity Slimani was injured as Vardy and Okazaki looked lightweight against the Watford defence; he would have offered some physicality and support to Vardy. Far too many balls were hit up to Vardy who had no chance of winning them. I thought Okazaki should have been replaced earlier, with Musa in a more central role, to provide support to Vardy. (unless Ulloa had come on instead of Gray) I was disappointed with Allbrighton and Amartey today; neither had much influence. Schlupp was excellent ( I don't agree with TJB fox)after he came on as his pace was effective; I'd like him to start next time. There was plenty of effort today and Watford rarely threatened after the first 25 minutes (apart from Zieler's save) but they did not need to. Trouble is, Leicester didn't trouble Gomes all afternoon. That was the biggest frustration.

Let's not kid ourselves, if Watford had finished better, it would have been another United, Liverpool score line. We may have had more possession but we created next to nothing. Considering this is happening every week now, its a very worrying pattern.

Not sure about that. 10 attempts apiece and 3 on target for them as opposed to 2 for us. As I said their goals were both from half-chances and its only when things are going against you that they both go in. We were better with the ball throughout. Kidding ourselves would be saying we deserved to win or that we played well. We didn't and we didn't. But a draw was a fair result for me.

He fails to marshall and co-ordinate our back 4. The worst signing of the summer. Kasper has to heal quickly, but Hamer deserves another chance. His distribution can be poor, but he is a good keeper. A Pearson/Walsh signing too...

It frustrates the hell out of me. Every once in a while he has a notably positive impact on a game, but those are sadly few and far between. Agreed - I was exaggerating. Yes, he loses the ball - but right now in our team everyone does. There was at least 3 occasions today which last year were goal scoring opportunities where mahrez instead of passing ran down a blind alley and lost the ball.
TJB-fox Posted 19 November 2016 Posted 19 November 2016 The only reason our strikers look so lightweight is because balls are pumped at their head or chest which is never going to work against 6"3 centre halves!
Super_horns Posted 19 November 2016 Posted 19 November 2016 Reminded me of some of the Championship games we had - save for the first 15 minutes the quality wasn't great with both sides lacking composure/ We just defended very well and for whatever reason there didn't seem to be the quality or play you had last season. The performance of the officials hardly helped either team in what was a scrappy 2nd half. Not sure you can blame the defence for the 2 goals we scored but the 1st was so quick I'd have to see it again. Good luck on Tuesday anyway - maybe once you've qualified the league form will pick up.

Agree with the latter, but not we didn't deserve to lose, we can't defend, cant create, and look to have no game plan, other than panic and hoof, and lost most of the physical battles.
Karljohn Posted 19 November 2016 Posted 19 November 2016 Seriously fed up of reading about players being tired or the assumption they are tired . FFS they are some of the most pampered people ever, it's not like they are working 56 hours a week and have the stresses and strains of everyday life.
Guest Col city fan Posted 19 November 2016 Posted 19 November 2016 Whatever your view on sacking Ranieri is, I do know one thing. To have slumped from being utterly brilliant to this, is quite embarrassing. If Claudio's game is to ensure European qualification and THEN to focus on the league, it's a risky one.

You must have been watching a completely different game to me. Watford were woeful. Aside from their two goals and the Zieler save I genuinely can't remember them having a shot on goal. We weren't cut open by Watford at any stage in the game, unlike the performance at Anfield. We retained possession well today but just weren't clever enough in and around the Watford penalty area. We are working the ball into dangerous areas but we're simply not converting these opportunities into clear cut chances. It's a confidence issue more than anything else.

I think I'm right that we've picked up a single, solitary point away from home this season? It's more than a confidence issue. That's relegation form. Converting opportunities into clear cut chances is essentially what football is all about

It's laughable our GOALKEEPER is being blamed for our players not winning headers, closing down, making mistakes and tackling. They're called defenders for a reason. Cant believe people are calling for Hamer. This is the Hamer that went on loan to the Championship last season and got sent back because he was letting in 4 a game.
Chico1958 Posted 19 November 2016 Posted 19 November 2016 After today I think we need to assess all departments not just the midfield. If I could go back in time I'd have a proper pre-season playing Burton, Rotherham, Oxford etc.( I know it's been said before ) Not playing Teams in America and other places that escape me. Getting beat by 2 or three goals. Thats not going to build confidence in the Musa's, Amarteys etc. They must have thought "what have I got myself in to" Losing Kante obviously has had effect, losing Mendy so early has really rocked the boat and the players all want to be fit for the Champions League. You can't blame them for that, they'll never get the opportunity ever again. The early goals didn't make it easy listening or reading on the thread and the team must have thought, Sh-t here we go again. Let's get Benny a squad number so the two have got Was and Benny vieing for a place, tell Musa he doesn't have to pass he can shoot. Give some of the kids a go, Gray, Kapustka, Chillwell perhaps ego's will have to take a back seat. What I've read even Jeff was better than the players that started and if Slimani wasn't fit then Leo should have been first on the bench. My expectations have gone up, but so have the players wages.....................Am I wrong to expect more ? We are the Champions after all. Really, sorry if it sounds negative but every time I think we're getting there this happens. We've been beaten by Hull, WBA and now Watford.
