Top speed of our car 55mph. Those were the days. Wouldn't mind a return trip, although hopefully a lot quicker. Isn't Barrow where some of our main submarine pens are these days?

There are some there, it is basically Vickers or Sellafield for work there, Holker Street probably hasn't changed much since you were there !
