Good game.

Great win and a performance nearly matching those of last season.

Good effort from most and young Ben again was exceptional.

Brave team choice from the Don, no one predicted that, and electric performance in the first half hour ...   Reminded me of last season ...   Lost our way a bit later on but good substitutions kept us going.  Lots of positives and great to watch.   :scarf:

Disappointing to see Mahrez come off shaking his head but hopefully realises it was the right decision for the team and hopefully isnt sulking about it.

Great result though and great way to finish 2016.

Say it everytime we play them but West Ham are a dirty team

Yep. The kid is sparking now.

Good all round performance. Let's go into the ''New Year" with a positive attitude.

nice to see a defender have a shot at the end, and add an attacking threat

Was a change again today, Albrighton on his preferred side, Drinky back in the middle and keeping the Gray, Chilwell partnership down the left with Mahrez playing up front with Slimani.

Some quality football played in that first half that deservedly gave us the lead followed by a gritty fighting second half.

Cant fault any of the players today though that referee and the linesman near the away end was abysmal.

West Ham should get carpet layers to sponsor them, they spend so much time on the floor.

Haha, the cockneys think they dominated and we were lucky! Delusional bunch. That challenge on chilwell was horrific as well.  Ref had a mare.

Really?  What was his name?

What encouraged me was not so much the change in personnel, some 'tinkering' was inevitable with 2 games in 48 hours, but the change in system.

I know that many teams play it, but 4-2-3-1 seems suited to the players we have. Last seasons tactics worked then but have been countered this season. After the loss of Kante, two sitting gives our CBs more protection and leaves them less vulnerable to the ball over the top, which has lead to sloppy goals being conceded. Mahrez also had more freedom.West Ham took time to adapt to our tactical shift, by which time we were a goal up.

That was better.

The players fought and the fans responded!

That's what we want to see! 2nd half was a little quiet but we did what we had to do!

Great goal by Slimani, thought he went abit anonymous in the 2nd half, looked abit lazy again but hey ho, he scored you cannot really complain!

C'mon City, let's follow this up on Monday, we're not in that much of a bad posistion! If we follow things up, get a run together, I said similar after the Man City game, if we don't follow it up really it counts for nothing!

Anyway nice way to finish 2016, onwards and upwards!

Great result. It was refreshing to see a new formation/system today which we've needed for a long while. Also, very pleasing to see Albrighton utilised to his qualities on the right wing. The 4-2-3-1 system worked well, we counter attacked with pace and defended resoutely. Albrighton is most effective when he was on the right, because he can cross on his natural side. Today illustrated that, because the cross for Slimani was sumptuous. We will start to see the best from players if we utilise them in an effective system, and we play to their strengths. That's what we did today.

The tactics were good today, credit to CR, the players and management for that. It could've been a draw given how tight the overall game was, but a very valuable 3pts for us.

Such a pleasing performance.

Ranieri - finally a tweak to the formation which gave us that edge we needed. Bringing Mahrez into the centre made the West Ham midfield think when it came to picking up a man. It worked as Drinky was left free to find albrighton (and what a ball!) to cross for Slimani. It seems so simple but also shows we do have quality in this squad.

Chilwell, Simpson and Amartey I thought were very good today and worth a mention. I don't see Amartey as a ball winning midfield player but his passing and ability to drive forward is good and should be the areas we should be maturing him on.

please carry this into Monday.

Albrighton is a real asset. He just needs to be played on the right side of the pitch. Not his fault he's been played on the wrong flank the last few weeks.

Last few weeks??

Excellent win and performance. Much needed!

finally the change in formation we've all seen the need for. ALBRIGHTON my MOTM but lots of great performances including all the back 4. Amartey getting better and better. Good subs made at the right times. Maybe we can do ok without kante and Walsh.

Really need to kick on now and not show up limp and lifeless in two days time.

Oh and the ref was literally unbelievable. It's a tough job but the current standard is just woeful. I'd say there's 2-3 competent refs max in the country at present. Really worrying.

quick question: did formation work?

Yes and no.

It got the best out of Slimani but Mahrez isn't a number 10. If we sign a player in that position and have Vardy coming off the bench at 70 mins a lot of teams won't be able to live with us.
