rmahrez Posted 7 January 2017 Posted 7 January 2017 Just got back. A great performance. I see Ndidi has been getting plenty of praise on here but Mendy impressed me just as much today. Both were impeccable in screening the back four and shut down the middle of the pitch, meaning Everton's success was limited to the flanks and crosses. Musa also seemed much more threatening on the ball today, not getting shrugged off easily and providing some impressive dribbles as well as two good finishes obviously. I hope we get to see more of him through the middle in coming weeks. Good to see Kaputska get his debut as well, almost grabbed a goal at the death. Want to say how good the away end was as well. Sat in the home end their fans were silent for almost the whole game and all I could hear was our away end which never stopped singing, and which was especially loud in the three minutes we were behind. Kudos to everyone that travelled.
Chico1958 Posted 7 January 2017 Posted 7 January 2017 How come it always ends the same way ? What about the football people

Glad he's having a bad time of it because he's a moaning gobshite. In full agreement. On a side note, never forgiven him for that foul in 93 either. Though he should be applauded for being part of the process of ending Graham Taylors 'reign'.
StriderHiryu Posted 7 January 2017 Posted 7 January 2017 For those that went - should we be concerned that even with 3 in the middle we still concede so much possession? Third game in a row we've played 3 midfielders but still getting overrun. We will never be Barcelona (and I'm not saying we need to be), but it does concern me!
ZeGuy Posted 7 January 2017 Posted 7 January 2017 Missed the game and can't find any highlights on the net right now. Can any one point to any decent highlights ? Which formatipn did we play? How was Ndidi? Also Musa bagged 2? Wow.
Max Wall Posted 7 January 2017 Posted 7 January 2017 England's spirit was never in doubt, but they missed the pace and spontaneity of Ian Wright and lumbered themselves with a second unnecessary handicap in recalling Carlton Palmer, who lasted just one half before Taylor acknowledged his mistake by replacing him with Andy Sinton. ----------------------- On the above point and apologies for being off topic, I just came across this paragraph in a piece regarding Koeman not being sent off in the 1993 qualifier. You could use that paragraph today by just changing the names to current players. Palmer and Sinton, those were the days..............

We're much more solid with the 3, and we're always good for a goal- won 2 and drawn 1 since we made the change, no complaints from me.
Guest Mickyblueeyes Posted 7 January 2017 Posted 7 January 2017 I hope the formation change is here to stay. Especially while Maghreb and Slimani are away. That midfield three has potential to compliment one another.

Despite seemingly very good game otherwise, Chilwell beaten far too easily for their goal. Musa superb for his second.
