Mike Oxlong Posted 12 January 2017 Posted 12 January 2017 Filbert Way sounds like a cruise ship crooner. Not keen.

sylofox Posted 12 January 2017 Posted 12 January 2017 Our owners name the ground after there own company good on them. They have not tried to change our name. They have not made our first choice kit ref red. Stop fecking moaning they have been great for us and pumped in millions. They love our club and our city. Some of you should be care full what you wish for. Who knows our next owners may be right cvnts.
filthyfox Posted 12 January 2017 Posted 12 January 2017 It should forever be known as the King Power stadium for what Vichai and Top have given us.
Guest Posted 12 January 2017 Posted 12 January 2017 The name should be Filbert Way Stadium Brought to You by King Power. Then everyone would be happy, just like at Newcastle.
Barky Posted 12 January 2017 Posted 12 January 2017 I think 'filbert' has been fooked up a bit by filbert the fox and 'way' is a much weaker word than 'street'. So Filbert Way to me sounds a bit soft, quite effeminate. The KP is much stronger. Besides if we really wanted to follow history it would be called raw dykes road wouldn't it? Where is filbert way?
gerrytaggart Posted 12 January 2017 Posted 12 January 2017 Either the Steve Lynex Moustache Legend Arena or Filbery Way for me. Having said that I like the King Power Stadium...and the Walkers. Not bothered.
Koke Posted 12 January 2017 Posted 12 January 2017 Arsenals ground is called Emirates Stadium. Granted,it was called that since it's inception in 2006. Man City are called Etihad. They could call our stadium "The Prophet Mohamed Stadium" for all I care. Football is capitalism on steroids. It's pure business I'm afraid.

KP is safely paying anything over 10m-11m for naming rights Tresteller had nothing to do with that, the rights were for other things that they "bought". There are also many other forms of sponsorship, from stand names, to back of shirt, to advertising boards, kit deals etc etc. The latest accounts are due soon, but as I said. I don't remember any specifics ever being mentioned. If they have listed £11m somewhere, dig it out and post it. They may well have paid a token amount, but it won't be at normal value.
Manini Posted 12 January 2017 Posted 12 January 2017 i personally think "Ol' wasteland opposite the Seat garage" sounds better myself.
Spudulike Posted 12 January 2017 Posted 12 January 2017 Does anyone remember what it was called before the stadium was built ?? It's as if Freeman's Wharf never existed

As long as the team performs on the pitch, they can call it whatever they want as far as i'm concerned. Keeps me awake at night tbh
Leamington Fox Posted 12 January 2017 Posted 12 January 2017 We won the title at the King Power Stadium. I'll be happy if it keeps that name forever and we keep these owners. Filbert Way sounds totally lame and limp. Our old stadium was Filbert Street, but it is no more.
dynamark Posted 12 January 2017 Posted 12 January 2017 Filbert way is just nuts bit like the KP in a way.
China Black Posted 12 January 2017 Posted 12 January 2017 I don't mind what name our stadium is. What's more important is that it is graced by a brilliant home team and produces a great atmosphere.

I pulled these from Note 2 (where the breakdown to turnover is shown) to the financial statements of Leicester City (free on Companies House online) sponsorhip and other related income y/e 31 May 2010 2.8m (picked this from 2011 accounts) y/e 31 May 2011 3.0m y/e 31 May 2012 5.5m (year naming rights changed hands) y/e 31 May 2013 5.2m y/e 31 May 2014 16m (Tresteller year) y/e 31 May 2015 16.8m there is a certain amount of sponsorship income but without intervention of the owners there is no significant increase in this part of income but this is not as critical going forward because the bulk of income is now TV income, so staying in the PL is crucial Total income 2014, 31m (other football income, where TV income will be under 5.6m) Total income 2015, 104m (other football income 73.7m)
foxfanazer Posted 13 January 2017 Posted 13 January 2017 Yeah either Filbert way or the Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha stadium would be nice
foxfanazer Posted 13 January 2017 Posted 13 January 2017 The only time I've been remotely bothered is when they nearly called it the Walkers Bowl!

That's pretty much the definition of 'sell out'.

They're better than most and they've helped us to unprecedented success. But it doesn't mean they're infallible and I think most would appreciate less King Power stuff and more LCFC-related stuff when it comes to how the ground is decorated/named.
