It's what happened

Wasn't Silva and his agent all over their local news moaning about how Sporting were refusing to let him go? What was all that about. Did he sign an improved contract with Sporting afterwards?

A deal was done , Sporting were playing hardball over agreeing a figure, however a deal was reluctantly struck, but we messed about on actually getting it tied up. Silva  and his agent were pissed off. There was half heartedly approached again when Sporting were knocked out of Europe. TBH we could have got Michael Keane and Deeney if we would coughed up .

I thought his father was quite vocal afterwards about Silva having his move blocked by the club unfairly. Also, I though he had signed a new contract just months before?

Not sure how the deal was that done, as their President was adamant he wasn't being sold

100% agree, never in a million

Hope this is a British press rumour.  Really don't want this signing.  Lazy, not that skilful, slow, and never really done anything in the Prem.

So we stalled on silva when we had agreed a deal in August to make it a big double announcement with slim?

yet the buy out on slim was lower and therefore we were assured of getting him if we wanted

this is just nuts

who the hell is making decisions like that?

Slim's buy out had expired months before that. We ended up paying more than his 30m release by 5m worth of bonuses

Tbf, the Boro fans say he's anything but lazy.

Still don't want him mind.

Erm his statements in the press certainly said otherwise, he was talking as if he had signed for us.

No way he would risk his reputation with the fans if he didn't think it was going to happen.

Then you have a more positive view of how footballers play the press than I do....

his statements in the press talked about a new challenge. Easy language to use and means he can go back on it. He was forcing them to offer him a big contract and he knew with Slimani going the president would offer it.

Not sure what to think. He's a decent player and not a great player. He is however someone that's natural in a position ever been looking for. If he can provide some creativity in the hole for us then it's a yes from me.
