DangerFox Posted 5 February 2017 Posted 5 February 2017 As always I record the game as well as go to the games when possible. Then watch it later on. Today I watched straight away. What I saw after the game today felt more important to me than the game itself. Jamie Carragher seemed passionate when talking about Leicester and the words that stuck out for me were, "Leicester have achieved what we all think is the best story in football.....ever but them getting relegated will tarnish that". You can say, it can never be taken away from us as much as you like but I promise that won't make it any easier getting relegated. Yes we will always still go to the games but it'll hurt. The worst part for me is watching these players and possibly manager, do it to themselves. If we do get relegated, it is an if, I worry about the implosion at the club. Players, manager, owners even. All I can do is hold my breath and have faith that we escape at the very least on goal difference. My head is telling me a horror story though.
Bayfox Posted 5 February 2017 Posted 5 February 2017 It's already been tarnished due to a lack of effort by the 11 on the pitch.

Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 5 February 2017 Posted 5 February 2017 The legacy to winning the Prem should of lasted for years, it's pathetic how we've squandered it all away, so very sad.
squidsworth Posted 5 February 2017 Posted 5 February 2017 It defies belief how quickly we've relinquished it tbh, almost like they think we never deserved it now we're doing the time. Guess we'll see what it all means in the fullness of time, but for now getting as far down as possible seems all we're concerned with.
China Black Posted 5 February 2017 Posted 5 February 2017 Very sad to see this, almost 1 year to the day since we beat Man City 3-1 away. This is a triumph that the club should really have built on. Last summer was the most important summer ever in terms of future direction following the title win. However too much time was spent celebrating the win (the parade in Bangkok for example), and not enough planning was made in terms of evolving the teams style of play.
adejo92 Posted 5 February 2017 Posted 5 February 2017 Our efforts this season make a mockery of being Premier league champions. How the hell can i boast about being champions at Burton Albion away.
CKB Posted 5 February 2017 Posted 5 February 2017 It would tarnish it for me These players did the unthinkable but are willing to taint it and their achievements because they got arrogant? No that don't sit well with me! so stand up and be counted and get us outta this mess and keep our PL place in check Fvck off in the summer for all I care, just fight, show passion, give ya all and get us to safety
ealingfox Posted 5 February 2017 Posted 5 February 2017 Yep, already tarnished for me. May as well not have happened now.

But no one can ever take being Champions away from this club or any real fans of LCFC.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 5 February 2017 Posted 5 February 2017 Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy coming back to the club in 20 years' time - how are they perceived and received? Option A - had superb seasons, won the league in the most remarkable of circumstances and followed it up with another good season before moving on amicably to bigger and better things Option B - had superb seasons, won the league in the most remarkable of circumstances and followed it up with demanding extortionate contracts, giving minimal effort and letting the club get relegated the season after being champions You tell me which option tarnishes the first part of each scenario.
cruzFOX Posted 6 February 2017 Posted 6 February 2017 It absolutely tarnishes last seasons incredible achievement. I'm based in the U.S. and watching & listening to the commentators during the post match report you can see how SAD they genuinely are at the mess leicester are in. They all still remember with fondness how the foxes provided possibly the finest season of entertainment and tv ratings in recent years. It was a joy to behold and made the team darlings of the sporting world. to watch them week in week out now is like watching a poor wounded animal getting flogged to death. It's tragic - no one wants to see this anymore as it's cruel and unkind. They truelly Look helpless. to the powers that be please help them or put them out of their misery.
Monsell1976 Posted 6 February 2017 Posted 6 February 2017 He was spot on with his comments, not just us fans having the pxss took out of us from opposing fans, but the players will lose their only chance of being top players. The only one from the title winning side who would get a move to a decent team would be mahrez, as much as he's not been at it, he's the only one with really quality, and would give say teams in the top six something different. Who going to watch Vardy film, he's already lost his appeal to a neutral. Gone from players and a team that had a real chance to make a real name for them and us, to nobody's

I'm hating the amount of piss taking mockery that's happening right now with us. It's not just other teams fans it's betting companies, newspapers, etc, etc Yes a few things may have made me raise a smile but most times I'm just angry at how it's come to this. We are being made out to be a joke and the players don't seem to give a shit and while they have their 100k contracts and flash cars, houses, etc why would they? Yes we all mock other teams at times but this is day in and out with everybody! We've become an embarrassment and it's mainly down to our gutless players

Tuna Posted 6 February 2017 Posted 6 February 2017 It may hurt for a while, but history will be kind to us. Everyone remembers France winning the World cup in '98, nobody remembers they fcucked up defending in in '02 losing to Senegal and Uruguay and going out in the group stage.

If we go down, it will simply confirm in many people's eyes that last year was the biggest fluke in football, maybe sporting, history. Going down would define it as such. And we all know that isn't true. Yes it was against the odds and a one-off likely. But as you and we all know we deservedly won the PL title last season with the best football at times, the hardest nosed defence, and an unquestionable spirit carrying on from the great escape. The fans were magnificent too. Remember the mini earthquakes reported as the KP rocked? We were the best team, the best club too. For the first time ever! None of us want the club and that wonderful, emotional achievement tarnished at all. Not for the team Not for the fans, Not for the staff Not for Claudio Not for the owners Not for the city maybe not for football or sport as a whole. As I said in another post Jamie Carragher appeared hugely emotional after the game in stating we need to survive this season. I was taken aback by it. That is why now is the time somehow to conjure up the champions spirit and that of the great escape team. That would be a really great way now to bring real pride back (not to mention winning the CL or FA cup as well)

This is the most important point to me. We should have recognised the averageness of the players we had. Except we didn't, we treated them like gods and gave them big contracts. Now they are swanning around like big time Charlie's. We had 2 chances in order to get the club to kick on to the next level, the summer and the January window. I don't buy the Bull about it being a difficult market to operate in because of inflated prices. 1. People will wanna take advantage because they know our situation in the league and 2. They know we have money. We have spent a fair bit but with the poor math skills even I have, the numbers seem to add up into a profit. You could argue we have spent. But what on? Where's the quality and experience? Talent and potential doesn't get you anywhere! Even if we now change manager, for me, I think we are getting relegated. We haven't got enough quality in the side and there either too young or old to show what is/was there potential. Looks like we are playing Derby and Forest next year. The best we can hope for is then an implosion, otherwise we'll be hindered by Ranieri with no idea of how to get promoted, and players who think they are too big for the league.
m4DD0gg Posted 6 February 2017 Posted 6 February 2017 If this team do go down (with the exception of Kasper) they should be driven through the streets of Leicester (again) in open top bus.....so people can pelt rotten tomatoes at them.

RonnieTodger Posted 6 February 2017 Posted 6 February 2017 I'd rather win the league and go down, than come 2nd two years running but that doesn't make this any more acceptable. In fact it makes it even more ridiculous. I agree that a siege mentality is needed and none of this "natural position" bollocks. I'm almost embarrassed to sing Champions of England when we're being outplayed every week. I can't even watch videos from last season without getting annoyed about how shit we are now. We really do need to forget about it until the end of the season and then look back fondly. There's no doubt that relegation will be a massive black mark. We'll be remembered as the champions that got relegated, probably more so than the 5000/1 champions.
