How can you give Zieler a 4 he did nothing wrong other then one

punch when he could have caught the ball.

Wish people would get off his back and applaud him when he does well!!!!

Zieler - 6 - So so, not much chance with the goal, decent distribution but very flappy.

Amartey - 6 - Tough time against Anya but did ok

Wasyl - 8 -

Benalouane - 8 - If we'd signed him this window just gone people would be declaring him another messiah. Absolutely brilliant. Him and Wasyl not treating the ball like a bomb and even passing it around the striker to get out in extra time was a massive shock

Chilwell - 7 - Should have had a penalty first half, and his positivity going forward was great to watch

Mendy - 6 - Started slowly, looked a bit unsure but grew into the game

King - 7 - good goal, ticked things over nicely but his through-balls were poor

Grey - 9 - In full flight he is glorious to watch.

Kapustka - 7 - Good start, full of effort and some class. Faded a bit but he's got potential

Albrighton - 7 - Industrious, did well for Kings goal but caught out a few times with sloppy play

Musa - 5 - Didn't have much luck with us punting it up to him

Subs:

Mahrez - 6 - By his standards nothing special, but still looked comfortable

Ndidi - 8 - Belter of a goal and did a great job running the midfield

Slimani - 5 - Poor miss from the sitter

Ranieri - 7 - could have made the subs earlier but winning so convincingly and being able to play it around with confidence for a while might do us more good than not having the extra half hour would had.

Derby - 5 - poor and cynical.

Ref - 2 - Shocker. 2 clear penalties missed and that handball decision was atrocious.

I'm probably a bit generous with our strikers... That's because I'm well chuffed. I almost forgot how winning a game feels! :scarf:

Ron-Robert Zieler 6 - A few moments when he should have caught the ball rather than punched, or not communicating with the back-line but no chance with the deflection for Derby's goal.

Daniel Amartey 6 - Quietly effective, with no real problems to report as Derby struggled to muster any real sustained attacking threat. Wont have many easier games.

Marcin Wasilewski 6 - Had his hands full with the lively Anya, but relatively untroubled, although one mis-cued clearance nearly caused problems.

Yohann Benalouane 7 - Looked rusty at first but good showing from someone with very little game time, often putting himself literally in harm's way to break-up Derby's attacks.

Ben Chilwell 7 - Did himself no harm tonight, with some dogged defending, coupled with some good touches further up the pitch. Unlucky not to win a penalty after getting a shove from Richard Keogh.

Nampalys Mendy 7 - Was essentially playing the Kante role, and didn't disappoint with Derby having to resort to the flanks to create their attacks, but will hVe tougher challenges awaiting in the Premier League.

Andy King 7 - Quietly went about his business, with a little more intensity than what we are used to. Right place at the right time to nod in the opener to cap off a fine performance.

Marc Albrighton 8 - A persistent threat on the wing, with plenty of teasing crosses that Derby struggled to cope with, but most of them landed in the ideal place with no Leicester player in sight. A must for the Starting XI against Swansea.

Bartosz Kaputska 8 - Gave a performance that will have most, if not all, Leicester City fans asking why he is persistently left out the side. Some fine touches and passing movements gave Derby constant problems before tiring in the second half.

Demarai Gray 9 - Cometh the hour, cometh Demarai Gray. A wonderful solo goal to cap off an excellent night's work, plenty of direct attacking and crossing, which contributed to King's opener. Tonight, the boy could do no wrong. Another strong candidate to start against Swansea.

Ahmed Musa 5 - Largely a peripheral figure in the first half, with mere inches denying him the opener with the goal at his mercy. Can consider himself unlucky to be booked for a blatant handball outside the area by Jonathan Mitchell, but at times ineffective.

Subs:

Wilfred Ndidi 8 - Talk about an instant impact. Beautifully taken goal from distance that Mitchell could only get fingertips too at full stretch, and kept things ticking over nicely in the middle of the park to kickstart Leicester's attacks in Extra Time.

Islam Slimani 5 - Will be mystified how he let the ball pass through his legs with the goal gaping, if that is what £30 million buys you then I worry for the transfer market. Mostly served as an intimidating presence on the front-line, sort of.

Riyad Mahrez 7 - A brief cameo by his standards, but some good passing movements to torture Derby's backline as their legs started to tire. Was happy to play second fiddle to Demarai Gray, but surely he will need to bring his A-game against Swansea this weekend.

Claudio Ranieri 8 - Needed a win (and some goals) to calm the dissidents and he got one, with most of his changes paying off in style. Wish him luck picking his next team against Swansea.

Derby County 5 - Some brief attacking threats which largely came to nothing. Lady Luck may have smiled on them for the majority of the game with their deflected equaliser, debatable decisions and a goalkeeper that somehow did not get sent off, but the best team won on the night. And if anything, the margin of defeat should have been more.

Referee Mike Jones 4 - Despite the deserved win, Leicester's unlucky run with the officials looks set to break the record books, with questionable decisions a-plenty, with the failure to send off Jonathan Mitchell for a handball outside the area to stop Musa in his tracks.

I actually enjoyed watching a match for once. Thought Benny did well compared to our PL CB's, but then it was only a Championship side. Good marks all round, never felt we would lose. Only reason to comment is for the officials. Two really good shouts for penalties (one defo) and how on earth do you miss the handball? They get paid at the end of the day, simply woeful Mr Jones and co.

I always look at these threads and can't help but notice tha Goal Keepers, Defenders and Defensive Midfielders get a raw deal.

People seem to give credit more easily for attacking play which is pleasing to the eye.

Ratings from the first half and second would have been different. Everyone stepped up in the 2nd half.

Gray 9

Benny, Wasyl, King, Chilwell 8

Everyone else 7

Mendy, Musa 6 - Didn't have awful games but probably not on the same level as everyone else. Musa got involved though and I like him. Mendy kept the ball well and in the 2nd half made some great tackles.

I was very impressed with benny, I can't understand why he has been frozen out so much he's looked half decent whenever I've seen him.

Mahrez he didn't do a lot when he came on but I think his presence on the pitch frightened derby at a time they were tiring and struggling to hold on. Which helped open them up a bit. If that makes sense.

Zieler 6 Thought he did pretty well

Amartey 6 Would rather have seen him at CB but he did ok. I think he will start ahead of Simpson on Sunday

Wasyl 6 Apart from being embarrassed by Anya in the first half he did ok

Benalouane 7 Slow start but played well. I know it was a championship side but is he any worse than Huth?

Chilwell 7 First choice left back now. Offers so much more than Fuchs

Albrighton 7 Brilliant for King's goal and full of energy. Really good

Mendy 5 Didn't do a lot

King 7 Credit where it's due, thought his all round game was really good

Gray 9 MOTM. Pray the manager gives him the real run in the side he deserves. Not just a couple of games, give him 5,6 in a row and he will be brilliant. He's going to be a top player

Musa 5 Probably one of the better games I've seen him have. He's just too small and lightweight though

Kaputska 6 Showed some nice touches but looks raw. Difficult to judge on one game

Subs

Mahrez 8 Classy and made a difference like he did in the first game against Derby

Slimani 5 Woeful and didn't look bothered

Ndidi 8 Great goal obviously. Has taken to English football really quickly

Ranieri 5 I was furious with the starting 11 because I thought the first choice players needed a game to gain confidence and momentum. However it turned into quite a good night; selection headaches for him for Sunday, players who regularly start may now see they have some competition, and we won.

The ref was a joke.

Benny has to replace huth or Morgan, I'd like to see them both replaced, bring Simpson back in, and have amartey in the centre.

Last night proved what a liability huth and Morgan have become, and nice to see centre halfs not panic on the ball, and hoof it aimlessly.

I was expecting a team ... the same as ... and Ranieri to play safe with a match the club can't afford to lose.

When I saw the team I thought he was playing with fire. If they played badly and lost that would be just about the end.

The players did look a bit disjointed at times, particularly in the first half, however they did get better throughout the match.

Top marks for Ranieri who showed a lot of courage to make so many changes.

Be very interesting to see what sort of team he puts out for Swansea.

Zieler - 6 Very important save. Nothing he could do about the deflected free kick.

Amartey - 6 Tough beginning in a position which is not his, but did the job.

Was - 5.5 Age is showing but did nothing wrong. Played the ball on the ground.

Benny - 6.5 Good performance. I'd prefer him to Morgan.

Chilwell - 8 Bright future for the kid. Great positioning and game reading. Needs to improve his agressivity

the duels, but is with no doubt a future England FB.

Mendy - 5 Very lightweight in the middle.

King - 7  Did go FORWARD with the ball even if not always with success. Nice to see him score.

Albrighton - 5.5 Too much wasted passes

Kapi - 6 Can't play 90 minutes but has undoubtedly potential. Needs to play more.

Gray - 9 MOTM. Brillant performance. Gained confidence, played unselfishly, end product

               improving. Undisputable  starter.

Musa -5 Can't question his committment but that's all about him. I'm afraid he'll never make it in the PL.

Subs:

Ndidi- 7.5 Love the guy. Immediate impact in the middle. With time can become one of the best box-to-box

midfielders in the league. Great to have a midfielder who actually shoots.

Slimani - 4.5 Weighted on their defense. Should've got a pen. Criminal to miss that sitter though.

Mahrez - 6.5 Instantly made the difference in the middle. Starting point of Ndidi's goal and some quite dangerous attacks. Some great touches and passes. Still low on confidence. A goal (not from a set

piece) would do him really good.

Ranieri - 6 Again a new set up, which surprisingly held up. The  shitty first half is to be put on the players

adaptation to a new system . Subs were spot on but way too late, I think there

was no reason to drag the game that long.

Derby - 5

Ref - 2 Cvnt.

Credit to this team

Very good 2nd half albeit against Championship reserve side

Thought Benny Ndidi Amarty were really impressive Allbrighton put in a great shift and Gray had easily his best ( full) game

Mahrez worried their defence but not sure what Slimani was doing

Ref the absolute pits

Unfortunately don't feel the Tinkerman will know how to absorb the positives into Sunday's team

Claudio 7 - Brave selections given the pressure he's been under. I hope he didn't select Zeiler for the reason Kasper has an injury, would be a massive blow if he plays Zeiler v Swansea.
Zeiler 5 - Unimpressive but best we've got after Kasper. Not at fault for their goal, that punched ball was diabolical though, could have cost us dearly.
Amartey 6 - Steady game at times looks pedestrian, not surprising given his recent schedule but he's prepared to get himself involved
Benaloune 7 - Good at basic defending skills, kept his concentration well. Distribution was poor early on but improved as the game progressed. Hope the kick to his head hasn't done him any harm.
Wasilewski 5 - Although he was tore a new one a couple of times in the first half it was refreshing to see him playing the ball out of defence along the ground.
Chilwell 6 - Would have been 7 but for his turning away from the ball in the wall...third time I can recall him doing that. He has a very bright future, just hope he stays with us.
Albrighton 5 - Would probably have looked better if we had a target man in the box more often. Did well to get the header back to King for the opener.
King 6 - Steady game prepared to take the ball forward at his feet, well taken goal.
Mendy  5 - Seemed to be anonymous for large chunks of the game.
Gray 9 MOM Bundles of skill and energy, terrific solo effort for the final goal. Looked a moody little so and so before during and after the game, could do with a personality transplant, reminds me of my kids during their teen years. Needs to grow up.
Kapustka 7 - Got plenty of the ball and generally used it well.
Musa 5 - Not good enough for a solo striker, had chances to go on and score. Unlucky to get booked for pointing out a cheating goalkeeper.
Ndidi 8 - Gave the team a big lift when he came on and scored a belter. Will be really great in a couple of years with normal progression
Mahrez 5 - Put the ball through for Ndidi to score, not much otherwise, we really need him to get back to what we know he can do.
Slimani 2 - Another sorry performance. The less said the better

Derby 5 Played above their level, but that's still fairly poor.

Ref 1 (I'd really like to give less) - Should be reported for his biased handling of the game.

Ranieri to Stay, No real choice at this time of the season and we'll have to go along with Top's choice.

It's job done, there was even a passage of play where we actually looked what we are "Champions of England". Hope we can keep this cup run going against Millwall, we know we won't make it easy for ourselves.

Zeiler  good to have a goalie who is prepared to come off his line

Amartey  class..can play literally anywhere...remember the goal he scored against Stoke

Benalouane..why has he been left playing with the U21 's ?

Chilwell...good performance but cost us a goal by turning away in the wall

Gray  ...excellent ...but still needs to learn to use his left foot occasionally, better defenders will close him down

Mahrez  will be a massive loss when he leaves...

Posted

zieler- 6, nothing he could of done with the goal but should of catch one of the free kick rather than punch

Chilwell -7 played well and looked composed

Wasly 6 - better passer than Morgan and Huth, looks like he is going to get sent off every time I see him play lol

Benny - 7 excellent performance and commitment for someone that hasn't played for so long

amartey - 6 steady

King 7 - 1st half King weren't great but after he scored the goal which gave him confidence I thought it was the best half I ever seen him play, boss the midfield, taking it by the scruff of the neck, you can tell he wanted it and ran with his heart

Albrighton 7 - excellent work rate and commitment, can't fault him

Mendy 6 - didn't stand out but won't say a bad display

Kaputska -6.5 show glimpses of what he is made of but got tired after 65 mins, he should get another run

Gray 7 - you can tell the boy got talent, abit slow to release the ball at times, started the game on fire but from 50-80th minute he was a passenger, when Derby players got tired and mahrez came on, he found a lot more space to influence

Musa 5- tried hard but lacking quality

subs

Mahrez 7 - he changed the game when he came on, Derby players don't know what to do with him, he is on different level when he wants to be

Slimani 4 - guess not match fit, but he offered abousuloty nothing, missed a sitter, if that was in the premiership for 3 points, would be a big big miss
