Nice to see we are all such great experts in American politics now.

Some FT users on this thread live in the US and have not unreasonable experience of the political system there.

Listen ive spent a lot of time in Africa and most of it is a sh!thole. Trump is saying it how it is. Seeing the comments here about his intellectual capabilities is cringeable.

Sooo...the straight talking makes him smart, then?

TBH there are plenty of places in the US that are equally as shitholey as anywhere you'll find in Africa.

No what makes him smart is that he earns millions a year and pays as little tax as possible doing it? Or winning an election? His straight talk is refreshing. Fair enough some places in America are massive shitholes.. no doubt he will call them out as well. Whats your point? Was he incorrectly calling parts of africa a shithole? You ever been to africa? If so where?

True, but who's likely to glean most benefit?

1) The world's most powerful nation and largest economy, led by an aggressive "America First" President with a gift for scenting weakness

2) A medium-sized economy that may have just downgraded its trade and relations with its closest trading partners and that is visibly absolutely desperate for new trade deals to compensate

I hope that the UK can do a mutually beneficial trade deal with the US on decent terms, but any deal will surely be on terms that overwhelmingly favour the US - and Trump & co, in particular (always assuming that a deal is possible and doesn't take a decade).

The current lot can't even take the initiative in our own exit from the EU. For all Trump is in many ways a total idiot, he will walk all over May in any negotiate, then turn back and walk over her again for good measure. After that he'll probably grab her by the pussy and wish her a good trip back to whatever shithole she comes from. And May will still claim it as a victory.

What's the worse that can happen, we'll get to buy the things we want to buy cheaper than we're buying them now. Even if we don't sell them a single extra thing we'll be better off.

We will get flooded with their imports such as chlorinated chicken etc. That will impact on us adversely in terms of standards and potentially impact on home grown produce selling in the Uk. Not to mention health service issues. So how will we be better off?

He's a fvcking dangerous narcissistic buffoon who has not earned a penny in his life. Set up by Daddy and bailed out by the US Government in the 90s sadly when he was all but bankrupt having lost it.

Trump was set for his first presidential medical today.

His general presence makes me think his BMI management may need improving imo.

Trump apparently eats Macdonalds takeaways every day.

Two Big Macs and a Filet'o'fish is his favourite.

Walking heart attack if you ask me.

That waddling bowling ball in Korea doesn’t look too healthy either ...     with a bit of luck there may yet be an answer to the who’s quickest on the nuclear draw problem ....

First of all the EU admit that chlorinated chicken is harmless, secondly you won't be forced to buy it, thirdly we already import a lot of chicken. If we're buying stuff cheaper we'll have more money to spend on other stuff that will boost the economy.

Well if you want to eat shit, you're more than welcome without considering the impact on us economically.

I have considered the impact on us economically, cheaper food means more money to spend on other things. It's a win win.
