Wolfox Posted 23 February 2017 Posted 23 February 2017 I am well aware that I appear to be in the minority on this forum and all the old platitudes will be rolled out "it's a results business" "we're now too big to risk going down" However, there is such a thing as 'doing the right thing', something which I firmly believe in for both my personal and proffesional life. Sacking the man who was fundamental (and no I don't buy the 'he got lucky' argument) in bringing our club the greatest success in our history - the football fairytale - the sporting miracle Is that really doing the right thing? We'll be (correctly in my opinion) viewed as the pariahs of world football... You reap what you sew... there'll be a lot of people saying "serves you right" if we go down... I am not sure I could bring myself to disagree with them I am not sure how I feel about turning up Monday... I'll be there, but, it won't feel right...

Claudio wouldnt have got the Job if a manager hadn't been sacked. Business directors are better off financially sacked than in employment.
Vacamion Posted 23 February 2017 Posted 23 February 2017 Disgraceful, short termist, over entitled, panic move with no credible replacement in view. I still had faith he could keep us up. If, as suggested, player power was involved, the owners have succumbed to an unacceptable pressure. Wouldn't be surprised if we go down anyway, now.
TrentFox Posted 23 February 2017 Posted 23 February 2017 Ah. The overreaction thread. No offence, but I'd rather go down trying hard to prevent it than to meekly accept it. The club had no option. It's sad, but the correct call. No shame whatsoever.
Sharpe's Fox Posted 23 February 2017 Posted 23 February 2017 Nah we were going down. With a wimper. Totally justified. Look at the Swansea game and say it isn't.
TeamRocket Posted 23 February 2017 Posted 23 February 2017 Dont get why people are hating the team cos we sacked him

Going to have to agree with this, Obviously the title win trumps the great escape but no one who saw the great escape could deny it was a momentous occasion which proceeded Pearson getting sacked. We sacked Pearson and won the title. Perhaps now we've sacked Ranieri we'll stay up.
Izzy Posted 23 February 2017 Posted 23 February 2017 The whole football world fvckin seem to hate us right now and desperately want us to be relegated. We've gone from everybody's second favorite club nine months ago, to now being the new Millwall. Sad...
Monsell1976 Posted 23 February 2017 Posted 23 February 2017 I trust the owners know what's going on at the club, but this leaves a bad taste in my mouth
Wdywd Posted 23 February 2017 Posted 23 February 2017 You'll get stick for it but you're basically right. I don't want us to go down but I'm completely disillusioned by this.
Vacamion Posted 23 February 2017 Posted 23 February 2017 Any future unequivocal backing of a manager by these owners ain't worth the paper it's written on.
HKFox Posted 23 February 2017 Posted 23 February 2017 on a personal level it is horrible decision as Ranieri did the unthinkable. On a business level it is completely understandable. Players not playing for him, no goals in league since 2017, and look odds on to go down by many pundits comments.

The fact they've looked like they haven't given a damn about anything all season resulting in the finest manager we have ever had getting the sack may have got a few people's backs up.
FoxyPalace.com Posted 23 February 2017 Posted 23 February 2017 Rubbish. Bad Buys + Very bad run + = Sack

Arriba Los Zorros Posted 23 February 2017 Posted 23 February 2017 100% the right decision. The legacy he had built was being eroded away with every passing game and I've never ever seen such poor football. Let's look back at last season and remember him as a legend, rather than a guy who got lucky and took us down.

Babylon Posted 23 February 2017 Posted 23 February 2017 How could anyone call this short termist, it's as clear as day he's not a long term option... this is the epitome of a long term view.
Bob Hazels shorts Posted 23 February 2017 Posted 23 February 2017 Winston Churchill sacked by the voters Sir Alf Ramsey sacked by the FA
pazzerfox Posted 23 February 2017 Posted 23 February 2017 He had to go, It was the correct decision. The Premier League form has been nowhere near good enough. I believe we would have gone down with a whimper under CR..At least now we might roar a bit louder!

Stadt Posted 23 February 2017 Posted 23 February 2017 If we were to be relegated at what point would we say actually we can't be sentimental anymore? Ranieri isn't bigger than the club and he was taking us down.
