ramboacdc Posted 24 February 2017 Share Posted 24 February 2017 and don't make the obvious joke! long story short my girlfriend is still awaiting diagnosis for a problem she has. We first thought it was labyrinthitis since she was always dizzy and then she was sent for an MRI and now we are on CT scans as she may have miniears disease. She is fine some times but at other points she is so unbelievably dizzy she cant even move without the room spinning. She likens it to being drunk constantly. She has been suffering from this since june last year and it has cost her her job so far and her only source of income is the little bit of younique make up she sells when she can. shes trying hard to make decent money out of it but you know how them pyramid things are. She is on ESA for it and awaiting a result on her appeal on PiP but we are struggling. To put it bluntly im struggling to support her, me and my daughter and keep everything ticking over. I suffer with depression and social anxiety myself and its getting me down trying to keep her head up as she is understandably getting down. I worry however if i fall ill, we are screwed as that is no income coming in at all and that gets me down. Our friends and family help where they can but she just wants something she can do to earn a bit more money. I did pitch the cam girl idea and got so many things thrown at me I am lucky to be alive! So here is my plea: If anyone has any sort of paid job/work a 23 year old housebound female can do can you please get in contact? at this point we are willing to look at anything, whether it is online, packing envelopes, calling people, anything. She just feels useless and wants to work to help us out. I await the replys of "do porn" but thought it was worth an ask of you guys since i know some of you are the salt of the earth. Also i have sent her CV into the club already......rudkin said he will call her back if there was any vacancies.......that joke fell dead.

Wymsey Posted 24 February 2017 Share Posted 24 February 2017 Sorry to hear about your girlfriend. There's plenty of cleaning jobs around, such as Molly Maids etc, that go to people's houses around Leicestershire - if she is unable to drive, she could be a passenger as often cleaning companies normally have 2+ in a car for that sort of work (although heavy lifting of equipment may be involved, so that could make it difficult for her with the dizzy spells). You probably know already but there's plenty of agencies around with work available nearly all the time - choose some you wish to contact and go from there I suggest (but be wary thougg that customer service can be rubbish with recruitment agencies). - Not certain but I think you mentioned on here sometime that you live in Kegworth (apologies if confusing with another member)? M&S Distribution Centre in Castle Donington will have vacancies in picking and packing for their online clothes sales (employ loads, as often people can leave at anytime, so that might be a good idea as well? Their Recruitment Team for that site is called 'Blue Arrow', their number is 0800 169 2945 Or have a look at M&S's distribution careers website: http://careers.marksandspencer.com/careers-at-m-and-s/logistics/warehouse-operatives I wish you and your girlfriend all the best, whatever is decided, of gaining some form of employment soon. Sambiasso Posted 24 February 2017 Share Posted 24 February 2017 Guessing computer work is out the question if she suffers from dizziness. Leaves you with few options really: Ironing, Baking or Crafts/Handmade cards and all that nonsense sells for a silly money All depends on her skill set really. Thank you. Effected me getting to games too as we are gold members so instead of them going to waste i set up the LCFC face value ticket exchange on facebook and that has over 1400 members now so thats a win. made me think there may a twickets like website for sports fixtures. again money means i cant take that further than this idea! 17 minutes ago, kingcarr21 said: Can she bake cakes? As a bloke i didnt realise how high priced her products were until i met my sister on a lunch hour and she took me down the make up aisle! 6 minutes ago, Wymeswold fox said: Sorry to hear about your girlfriend. Thank you for your help. We are looking at them but she doesnt want to go back and get worse if that makes sense and have another black mark on her CV. her previous job sacked her for being ill and because she had not been there 2 years she couldn't take to tribunal. May be a cleaning service she can do to ease back in ill give her the names. thanks.

I'm sorry to hear about your girlfriend's condition mate - sounds awful. You mentioned maybe she could do a job 'calling people'? In my experience, many businesses always need good telemarketers. People who are quite happy to work their way though a list of contacts and try to set up appointments. I couldn't do it for all the tea in china as I don't like rejection but if your girlfriend is strong and robust enough to cope with people slamming the phone down on her, this could be line of work to possibly explore? I don't have a need myself for a telemarketer or know of anyone in my network who does right now, but it may be worth exploring? Some companies will pay by each appointment made, and it can be a nice little earner if she's got a good telephone manner. Just thought I'd throw it out there! Good luck and all the best... Has your girlfriend considered working for herself? If she's done telemarketing before she could easily set up her own business from home. No major overheads and she could even claim back the phone calls as a business expense. I used a telemarketer called Pat years ago who was self employed. When she made calls on my behalf she just introduced herself as working for my company (the prospects didn't know/don't care). I paid her £100 per appointment she made for me, and sometimes she'd book 4 or 5 a day so made good money. She made the calls casually from her home and at the times that suited her - I just gave her a list of prospects and a script and she did the rest. If your girlfriend could find a few local SME's who need a telemarketer, she could make a nice little living doing this and on her own terms. Decent telemarketers are always in demand and it's cheaper for small businesses to employ one man bands than go through a big telemarketing company. The prospect on the end of the phone doesn't know either way... Anyway, just putting it out there as an option!

MPH Posted 24 February 2017 Share Posted 24 February 2017 Firstly and most importantly, i hope she gets the helps she needs. I hate it that she has these spells and hope they can get to the bottom of it... It has to be an obvious one - some sort of internet buisness.. an ebay shop... or selling british products online to ex-pats all over the world.... Maybe something like buy boxes of all the rarest/ nicest coffees in the world and you could become the one stop shop for people searching for rare drinks/ rare k-cups. Low overheads ( kept in boxers in the spare room) = can sell it cheaper Just ideas off the top of my head, like....

Guest CityFan 06 Posted 26 July 2017 Share Posted 26 July 2017 Not sure if it's been mentioned before @ramboacdc, but have you and your girlfriend considered the possibility of doing freelance writing? Does your girlfriend have a subject she's particularly interested in, or has strong knowledge about? With freelance work, you have the flexibility of working from home, on your own terms/hours, as well as earning money from it. I've recently managed to secure freelance football writing work after months of trying. I'll be honest, the process of trying to find paid freelance work can be demoralising. Constantly emailing/contacting numerous people and it being a very similar reply each time was tough, and it can be like that. However, for me the lifestyle of freelance writing was why I continued to strive for it. Eventually I managed to secure paid work, which is what I'm doing now. You might find this website, Upwork (upwork.com) useful in finding paid freelance work. Essentially, to my understanding it's like a job website for freelance work. To be fair I wish I'd of discovered this site sooner. Hope it all works out okay.
