Melbourne Fuchs Posted 17 August 2017 Posted 17 August 2017 18 minutes ago, the fox said: I think for fuchs, its the same as simmo, they rarely have blunders and they don't make a lot of defensive mistakes (especially simmo). They are both solid but they can be replaced with better players but like I said before, they don't do things that gets them on the bad side of the fans. For now, I'm happy with them, but if a better player shows up, the management has to bring him in. I'm mostly worried about the RB because there isn't much cover in the squad. There is one recurring mistake that Fuchs makes, and I (obviously) love him to bits. When the ball is crossed in from the far side he's pretty poor at tucking in and protecting the post. Happened a few times last season (Sevilla away is an example of that) and may have happened last game too. Simmo, on the other hand, is a monster at that. He's like a third centre back protecting the post when we need him most.
Guest TheBear Posted 17 October 2017 Posted 17 October 2017 What was up with Fuchs last night, seemed to me like he didn't want to be on the pitch first half, make some bizarre decisions and didn't seem to want to get involved. I thought he should have been subbed at half time. Chilwell looks hungier and more eager to impress, I get the feeling Fuchs head is in USA with his family and he seems more interested updating his Instagram story and selling clothes than playing football effectively for us at the minute!
Guest Posted 17 October 2017 Posted 17 October 2017 Fuchs has been a poor defender for well over a year now and his attacking prowess is deteriorating. He should be back-up material at best - a good guy for the training pitch and a possible future coach. I don't understand Shakey's continued use but I guess he was one of Shakey's boys when CR get ousted.
Ric Flair Posted 17 October 2017 Posted 17 October 2017 He's had a shocking start to the season and very much like Albrighton, they have young players as back up in their position desperate for a run of games and we ignore them. It's disgusting and until we have the bollocks to drop them and give them a kick up the arse they'll carry on serving up shit like last night. It's quite astounding Shakespeare has the audacity to say he dropped Mahrez to give him a wake up call but then has players with a modicum of Riyad's ability who have been abysmal this season with genuine viable alternatives to them and they get off scott free. Get fcuked fat boy.
Babylon Posted 17 October 2017 Posted 17 October 2017 He's been terrible the last few games, missing defensively and terrible on the ball. Chilwell absolutely needs to play ahead of him now, he has his faults also but he's got room to progress and Fuchs is only going backwards.

Careful you will get told off for talking about our beloved leader like that. fuchs has been in decline for over a year, there was a stat last year that he was the most taken on defender in the league.

I've already told @Ric Flair what I think about him doing it. There is just no need when he's been part of so much here.
Nugent Posted 17 October 2017 Posted 17 October 2017 He's been shit for a long time now, along with his wank clothing brand that he seems more interested in. Time for Chilwell please, yes he'll make mistakes but he's certainly no worse than Fuchs lately and he needs games to progress.
lgfualol Posted 17 October 2017 Posted 17 October 2017 Been crap since last season, only upped his game when he was under criticism and Ranieri got the boot. He is too comfy now we gave him a contact until 2019 and I don't know why but I get the impression he would throw a strop if he didn't play. Chilwell has to start next game, we have a promising English left-back, we need to play him for him to improve. Can't do much worse really. Fuchs is going to play though.

The personal insults maybe a little unwarranted, but the nick he's in for an ex footballer makes him an easy target. He's in danger of undoing all the quality work he did behind the scenes, he needs to walk away gracefully as he's about to get some vitriol from our fans.
Lovejoy Posted 17 October 2017 Posted 17 October 2017 Been saying it for a year now. Shakespeare himself said it's about knowing when to ease out the old boys and bring in the young lads. This is obvious that Chillwell's time has come. Otherwise he'll leave for first team football and we'll need a new LB anyway. Needs to happen for Swansea.
SouthStandUpperTier Posted 17 October 2017 Posted 17 October 2017 SUN Star Man last night. Make of that what you will.
daddylonglegs Posted 30 October 2017 Posted 30 October 2017 I am willing to give Fuchs a couple more weeks to see how he blends with the new style of play but he's probably seen the biggest drop off in form since our title winning year of all our current players. Slower, more mistakes, poorer on the ball, less useful on the counter attack. This isn't a criticism of just yesterdays performance, he's been this way for a while now.
Melbourne Fuchs Posted 30 October 2017 Posted 30 October 2017 Interestingly, he had 80 touches against Everton. The next highest for us was Ndidi with 58. I thought he had a poor game but he was certainly involved.
DelBoy73 Posted 30 October 2017 Posted 30 October 2017 He will be 32 next April, he still has at the very least one quality season in him, yet we can't expect him to start 38 games and expect him to perform like he was still in his peak years. I am sure we will be looking next summer window for a young LB to take over in the upcoming seasons.
Livid Posted 30 October 2017 Posted 30 October 2017 Particularly in the first half yesterday he looked exposed which is something I haven’t seen of him in previous seasons. Fortunately Unsworth decided to sacrifice Lennon to bolster their middle and he had a slightly easier second half. I’m not sure Chilwell, who I still think has a big future, is the answer at left back at the moment. We might need to buy soon.

In the first half there were two occasions on which he was completely done for pace/positioning, leaving an Everton player with free possession in our box. Fortunately, they were useless in front of goal but on another day we could easily have been 0-2 down because of that. He has been a great servant to LCFC. Hopefully it is just a blip in form, but if so it's a blip that seems to have lasted most of this season. Although not slow, he was never the quickest but compensated with good positioning. Somehow he seems to have lost pace and the ability to compensate through positioning. I agree with you, though, re. Chilwell, a great prospect and already excellent at the possession/attacking side of the game, but who still lacks the excellent positional judgment that was a characteristic of Fuchs at his best. Seems as if Puel wants to play Chilwell further forward anyway. I really hope Fuchs comes out of this trough, but if not then signing a new left back will rapidly become a priority.

Interesting about Chilwell. It's no coincidence that he and Gray are good friends off the pitch, I think they're very similar players with very similar problems. If they learn when to release the ball they could be really really useful players.

Puel loves attacking full backs and Chilwell will cement that role soon enough with Fuchs handing over the baton and seeing out the rest of his contract as a squad player.
Izzy Posted 30 October 2017 Author Posted 30 October 2017 It’s like watching your wife suddenly grow a few spare tires and her tits become a bit saggy. You still love her, but she’s just not as attractive as when you first met. P.S. nothing would please me more than to see Fuchs back to his dynamic and brilliant best. But I won’t hold my breath..
mod hero Posted 30 October 2017 Posted 30 October 2017 The guys 31 not 42 ffs, he should be at the top of his game

waylander Posted 30 October 2017 Posted 30 October 2017 Remember you all were saying the same about wes and worse . Puel will be the judge .

Folk on here blaming it on him being 31 is nonesense. id like to see Chilly left back and Albrighton left mid next game though.
