Izzy Posted 28 February 2017 Posted 28 February 2017 Thought Fuchs was outstanding last night. He looked angry and with a real point to prove. Delighted to see him back to his dynamic best. Hope he maintains that level for the rest of the season and proves his recent doubters wrong.

It's not a case of proving the doubters wrong, they were right to doubt him, his performances were poor at best. maybe more a case of asking people to not be so extreme in their criticism?

One of the constant problems on here is when posters get a new favourite, they find any excuse to malign whoever's standing in the way of their place in the team. And then, because they've adopted their hero, they see nothing but good in their performance or at least chose to ignore anything bad. Fuchs is just the latest victim. Some posters see Chilwell as the future - perhaps even people who know him personally - and want to champion his cause. It doesn't mean they're right or even rational about their judgement. I rate Chilwell as much as anyone but can see his faults, limitations and inexperience as well. With Gray it's the same and Ndidi too, though to a lesser extent. Good coaches and good managers know when a players ready and so should the fans if they've been around long enough. Both need to be fair. The fans shouldn't ;let their emotions cloud good judgement and the coaches/managers shouldn't let the size of a players wage packet or things like his beligerence influence their decisions. What matters is the best choice and that means being pretty cold hearted at times. .
Wymsey Posted 28 February 2017 Posted 28 February 2017 Previous to yesterday evening, I thought he looked quite tired and not fully-fit at times as well as not appearing happy in playing for some reason. But yesterday he was his own self in being professional and set up play nicely at times. Still not convinced about the 'highly-talented' tag on Chilwell though currently (although certainly not reflecting on his very short performance period yesterday) - often out-of-position and decision-making can be poor here and there overall in his general play.

The Horse's Mouth Posted 28 February 2017 Posted 28 February 2017 yeah he's been awful but last night was certainly the Fuchs we fell in love with last season

HankMarvin Posted 28 February 2017 Posted 28 February 2017 Hmmm the cynic in me would question some of the recent performances and that suspect back pass again Southhampton
Adster Posted 28 February 2017 Posted 28 February 2017 Proving doubters wrong? He's been shit all season apart from this game, you cannot argue with that fact.

Any youth prospects you might be referring to were championed in the context of the sometimes less than modest team we had at the time and I can't recall overstating the case for any of them for all that some liked to embellish what I actually said. For example Sheehan being our best free-kick taker in years. At his best I'd still say that was the case all these years on and only wish we had someone in our team today who was good enough as a player and able to deliver corners/free kicks with his accuracy, spin and venom. King has been our best and fastest passer for years and is only now starting to show the strain - as I mentioned two seasons back. Gradel was by far our best winger and most dangerous winger at the time and Billy McKay proved effective as a striker in the Scottish Premier League without evr having a chance here. The fact that we've moved on has no revevence at all and I've mentioned countless times that our Academy now seems to be more of a social service than any kind of feed for our first team and I often wonder what's the point in keeping it open if all we appear interested in is buying in from elsewhere.

Pretty much on the same level as last season. But it's only one game. This season and particularily the last two months he gave every reason to be benched. We'll see how it will go. This is valid for the rest of the team as well.

If I am mistaken then please correct me, but are you actually inferring Fuchs intentionally tried to give a goal away in a Premier League match.?

Got a point used to be the most active on twitter. Turned into a mardy Cvunt. Now suddenly has a blinder. No one is suggesting match fixing. More that players just couldnt be arsed anymore. If you ever been in a job you hate youd understand its harder to get up for it.

Guest claude_leic Posted 28 February 2017 Posted 28 February 2017 He's a class player. It was always a case of him being in bad form, rather than him being not good enough. Along with Drinkwater, I thought he started the season quite well.
MrSpaM Posted 28 February 2017 Posted 28 February 2017 I liked the part where he fist pumped just because he'd won us a throw in

matty98 Posted 28 February 2017 Posted 28 February 2017 Loved his cheeky attempt to catch Mignolet out with the little shrug after as if to say "why not?"

So what was being suggested re the comment around the back pass.Struggling to interpret it any other way.
adam1 Posted 28 February 2017 Posted 28 February 2017 If this was a race meeting there would be a stewards enquiry into the much improved performance. At left back your performance in my opinion is least susceptible to issues regarding tactics. It therefore just goes to show that he and others haven't been pulling their weight under Ranieri. I cannot wait until half of the current squad leave - for the sake of this clubs future.
lcfcsnow Posted 28 February 2017 Posted 28 February 2017 He was much better but there was a moment in the second half where he just stood and watched as a Liverpool player took a shot which just went wide, it led to Huth having a word and I think he was blaming the player in front or something for not closing down, could have been costly if they pulled another goal back.
