EGBFitness Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 Anyone got any stories they want to share home/away? I was only 7 when we last played Atletico so can remember very little. Went to the home leg and managed to get a signed programme from all the Atletico players. Just watched highlights on YouTube and we was robbed, Parkers sending off was a joke and how Izzet never won a penalty is incredible!
RoboFox Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 I couldn't stand up to cheer because I was weighed down by the sheer amount of material that the replica kits were made from. Those f**kers were seriously baggy.
filbertstreet Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 that game made 3 year old me cry, hope we absolutely thrash them
5waller5 Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 It really was a travesty ...... how that ref wasn't match fixing is still a mystery to me.
Lionheart10 Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 It was a great day away, sitting out in that big square boozing all day in the sun,set us up nicely to get batoned by the police at the ground!!
nnfox Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 I was at the home game, i have vague memories of Christian Vieri hitting the bar but Garry Parker's sending off was the stand out moment. To this day the most ridiculous sending off I've ever seen.
Sir Shep Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 I was at the home game and we were pretty much matching them until that cheating scumbag ref decided he wanted to count his money sooner rather than later.
Vestan Pance Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 Yeah I was also at the home leg. The atmosphere on Tuesday was decent but it was a tea party compared to 20 years ago. I remember Atletico only brought about 50 fans with them for some reason.
apollo4joe Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 the second leg was a joke. If I remember rightly the ref never reffed another European game after that? That's how bad he was
Gary Eatfood Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 I was 14 at the time and a few days before the match my Dad had caught me smoking. I got one of those 'I'm disappointed' lectures rather than an angry rant. Anyway, sitting in the East Stand pre-match my Dad turned to me and asked me if I'd stopped smoking, and obviously being a lying little bastard I replied, "Course Dad". Then he asked me if I promised on Leicester going through that night that I'd stopped and yet again, being a deceitful little toe rag I replied, "I promise". So there you have it, the appalling luck that night and all the dodgy refereeing was down to my lie. Sorry everyone. I have actually stopped smoking now.
TeamRocket Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 I remember this game was about 12 my brother whos a united fan and my other brother who a fan of football kept bullying me about how crap we was etc but after that game they both got me an home and away kit each cos they knew i was sad cos of the we lost the game :'( still brings tears to my eyes now :'( both kits with Izzet on the back ahhh cant wait for us to beat em so i can finally buy them a lcfc kit each
Ashley Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 Heard there was a lot of trouble with police again..
Ashley Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 Lad I know through following England Home & Away just sent me this too.
HighPeakFox Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 Went with my brother, his wife had died recently, so was hoping for something positive. There was a TV shot of the Kop after the second goal went in, we could both be seen looking gutted and in shock. Never seen reffing like it since, I'm glad to say.
Legend_in_blue Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 I think it was that Jose Mari - brings a whole new meaning to the word "dive" in a football game. That's what I remember over the two games. Dive, dive, dive and dive again.
Domsdad Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 Went with a few friends not on an organised trip. We went to the ground during the day to have a look around and bought some scarves and a football from a bloke on a kind of market stall. With ball in hand I was walking round the ground and spotted an entrance right through to the pitch. We did no more than wander through on to the pitch and had some shots shooting into the net that Marshy scored in! It was only when the tannoy announcer said " English, get off the pitch" that we left! Fantastic experience.
Karljohn Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 Dreadful trip out on the coach. Remember Claridge being a sub then subbed off I think. Juninho fell over and won a penalty. Also has some annoying cvnt called Kiko up top. 2nd leg muzzy had 3 stonewall pens turned down. We owe these big style!
Trav Le Bleu Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 If ever a ref was bought, it was that game. Time for revenge.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 14 minutes ago, Trav Le Bleu said: If ever a ref was bought, it was that game. Time for revenge. Totally this
foxer Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 I was only a nipper but I remember my dads cousin showing me a photo that he's taken of the scoreboard when we went 1-0 up through Marshall - he was saying he'll probably never see anything like it again as a Leicester fan. Then the home leg. Devastating!
Great Boos Up Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 Red and white stripes. I was at this and Stoke. Hopes and dreams died with those colours and still haunt me. Some wrongs need to be put right.
Guest Papasmurf Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 I was away at uni. No TV or radio coverage. Watched the home leg on teletext.
onekeithweller Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 I'm still angry. The most corrupt officiating I've ever witnessed and if I remember correctly no investigation afterwards. My memory is that we played superbly but in the words of O'God "It was a game we couldn't win".
