What do we do in summer?

I think the problem of following the same path as Southampton or Everton is you are limiting what you're capable of. By trying to play like Arsenal/Chelsea etc with worse players you will never be as good as them and are playing into their hands. We won the league by being different, our style of play is so intense (although not the most part of this season) that it poses an entirely new question upon teams, the same as Barca did a few years ago with the "tika taka", the difference being our style requires less footballing talent. Why not be different? Why conform?

Nail on the head here.

Tired of people who don't understand football thinking we need to play like other teams.

The reason we lose games is because we don't follow our principles. I can count on one hand the number of games we have lost when we've tried to employ our high pressing fast attacking style.

Ignoramuses think that slow build up possession football is a better or more attractive way to play. It isn't' and only works consistently if you have top players.

I get that we aren't a possession side but we went too far the other way today. Some of our passing was embarrassing.

Leicester of the last 6 months today but it was clear to see no one was firing on all cylinders for obvious reasons.

3 games in a week is a lot and it shows how weak and poor our second string players are.

It was disappointing but i would rather save the fire and our best players for Wednesday now we are all but safe.

try and keep our best players and add 2/3 big additions. We've shown when we play to our strengths we're still not far away. We need to go big on real quality, if that means a few 20/30m players then so be it. Couple defenders and a creative midfielder are a must.

Go to Progressive Field ten or a dozen times and watch my Tribe roll to the American League pennant.

As far as being attractive to potential signings, on one hand we will not have the attraction of European Football however we have shown that we are capable of getting great runs of results under three different managers now over three seasons (and shocking runs under two of them), it may not feel like a consistent period but our foothold is there. Anyone who has played against us when we're at it would respect us and a lot of them would want to join, worldwide the Champions League run is further enhancing our profile and our facilities are acknowledged as being excellent.  Salary wise, without Champions league income I don't know how significantly that affects things but we've made huge strides in becoming competitive in that sense.

The age of the centre halves will be an ongoing concern but name some readily available centre halves who are as good as ours when they and the team are in form? If Huth and Morgan were 23 how much would they be worth? If we can get a Keane and rotate the three between two places for a year then great but I wouldn't gamble on making a permanent break in the partnership just yet.

A right back who is more involved going forward than Danny Simpson is all well and good but these types of full back are often found at the half way line running back whilst the ball hits the back of your net, De-Laet, Stearman, Glen Johnson, Leighton Baines etc.

And there's a dilemma over what to do with Lawrence, Barnes and Kaputska when our central midfielders tend to be more defensive than probing the edge of the opposition box and wide positions are currently covered. Maybe Lawrence would be useful to have on the bench as an option to be more offensive but we still don't know if he fits the pattern and style of our play, pressing and mucking in with the defensive duties.

The idea of Sigurdson as an upgrade on Okazaki sounds realistic and promising, him and a Keane or Maguire would be solid business plus a replacement for any departing strikers cough Musa cough. And get Mendy Mendyed.

Out - Wasil, Ulloa, King, Musa

In - Maguire, Trippier, Silva, Sigurdsson

Loan out to championship clubs - Barnes and Kaputska

Full pre-season and 6 months to test James and Mendy. Sell in January window if neither make the grade. Switch Amartey to CB.

I don't doubt Slimani's quality, just whether him and Vardy can be a successful partnership so if we do sell Slimani, then I would target a like for like replacement for Vardy. Andre Gray ticks those boxes for me and can come and and do a similar job to Vardy when needed. Start Sigurdsson behind as a no.10 and keep Okazaki to play there too when needed.

------------------Schmeichel-----------------

Trippier-----Maguire----Huth------Fuchs

Mahrez-----Silva-------N'didi----Albrighton

------------------Sigurdsson------------------

--------------------Vardy----------------------

Subs: Zieler, Simpson, Amartey, Drinkwater, Gray, Okazaki, Slimani or Andre Gray

Don't need to make loads of changes, quality over quantity. Look at the likes of Sigurdsson, Trippier, Keane (although everyone will want him), Pickford (if Kasper goes), Gibson, Maguire. Can lose quite a few of the fringe players but not wholesale changes

Pickford is just another Zieler for me. He's not in the same class as Schmeichel. He's a typical overhyped, overrated English goalkeeper like Fraser Forster at Southampton. He's got time to improve but I'm not sure buying the goalie from the bottom club is a quality signing!

Who do you fancy then?

Butland, Forster or Hart if we are going English.

Forster is overrated, apparently - not sure if he's been damned with 'just another Zieler' mind you...

Assuming we stay in the Prem:

1. Sign Shakey as our permanent manager

2. Sell Slimani, Musa, Amartey, Mendy, Ulloa

3. Sign top, younger full backs (Robertson on the left). Sign a really good central playmaker.

Sign another quick, young striker

As long as the players being brought in fit in with the squad ethos, then I've got no issue signing a few. In fact, it's probably important that we do.

As for 'proper football'- give me our quick, high-energy system over the faux Barca 'piss about with it until there's an opening/we lose it and get done on the counter' style which is favoured by the majority of the league any day.

Presuming we stay up.

2 CBs - Maguire or Gibson should be looked into as they wont cost the earth. The Bundesliga has some solid young CBs I wouldn't mind us looking into - someone Huth can mentor. Wasilewski to join coaches or MLS or something.

1 RB - For god's sake, buy a right back as cover or to challenge Simpson.

1 CM - I'd go for someone that can challenge Drinkwater, who has been poo lately. Not sure what the future holds for James, King, Amartey or Mendy. I still want to see more of Mendy.

If CM looks good, I would love us to get an attacking midfielder but not sure who we could realistically get that can cover similar ground to Okazaki but add more to attacks.

I think Mahrez and Schmeichel will definitely be off so a replacement for those.

No shit pre-season tournaments. Make the games about fitness, and not money.

This is what I'd do...as long as we stay up

  • Give Shakey the job on a long-term basis.
  • Sell: Musa, King, Ulloa (I know Kingy's been around forever, but in reality, he's not the sort of player to drive our midfield forward.  I would, however, welcome him back in the future in some kind of coach / ambassador role).
  • Convert Wasilewski into a coach.  He's a good character to have around, but can't hack the pace of the PL anymore.
  • Recall: James & Lawrence.
  • Loan out: Kaputska, Wague (if he's still here), Barnes & Hamza to top Championship teams.
  • Buy: At least 1 solid CB, ideally 2.  New RB to compete with DS.  1 CM.  1 Striker.  Possibly a CAM to compete with Okazaki.

Don't **** it up, Rudkin.  ****.

But the goalie from the bottom club is the one who will have been tested the most and probably make the most saves all season. If it wasn't for him, Sunderland would have been losing by 5 or 6 most weeks. He's a very good keeper considering his age and we could probably get him at a decent price when they go down. Alternatively Heaton from Burnley. But ideally, we need Kasper to stay but I can't see it to be honest.

Look for new DoF to give us a realistic chance of signing anyone that is an improvement on what we have.  Hopefully the glaring deficiencies have been identified by those that are  not members of this Forum (who have known about them for what seems ages).

I'm not sure we can loan out someone we loaned - wouldn't that be a bit like sub-letting a home?
