I think it just demonstrates the moronic mentality of our fan base out there though which probably explains the current situation. Sticking football flags on the back of a pensioner? Class.

It's childish and stupid.

But to suggest people deserve a kicking from the state police force for it? Come on.

Seriously, what kind of dumb ass fvcks, film themselves stealing and committing vandalism and then share the video with a public forum? oh wait..yes got it now.

Even if not the police, what about their parents, their children, their wives, their bosses? FFS grow up

Well actually, last time something like that happened, we went on to win the league

Reputations take decades to mend. And we're still living out the 80s. The Spanish police are more brutal than their normal brutality because they fear the English hooliganism of old. I mean, damn, we were banned from all European competitions at one point. It doesn't make it right. But it does make their increased caution and probably brutality expected.

Fenerbahche fans also have a reputation. When Fenerbahche come to England I reckon our police are more alert and give them less licence. It's not fair on their peaceful fans and the fans who see their previous hooliganism in horror. But our police are going to take more precautions nonetheless.

There probably are some right ****ers in the Spanish police who relish the opportunity more of a fight but others will simply look to our past and fear.

I think the English police would soon come unstuck if they tried that. Were more than happy to escort Galatasaray fans who were letting pyro off to Arsenal the other year without nicking anyone.

I'm not saying they deserve a kicking for that. But it shows they are out there with a "I don't give a ****" attitude which probably means they are just being utter knobs in general. Have a drink, behave and show some respect. It's not hard is it.

Yeah fair dues, our police although with some notable exceptions do have a decent reputation. But we'd certainly be on much higher alert for fans with a reputation.

Honestly, the last thing I'd want to do with two days in madrid is spend it drinking with yobs from England. You're in a great city and haven't spent a bit of time having a look around? I understand getting the beers in but it's like going on holiday overseas and spending your time in an English style pub, surrounded by other brits eating ham, egg and chips. Waste.

Plenty of innocent fans getting a good kicking through nonsensical policing and our own fans are bemoaning them for being there.

What a world.

So the nonsensical police should just accept that uncle knob head and his mates should be allowed to throw the odd beer can.

Yes what a very English perspective agreed what a world

Agreed.  Had great fun today away from PM.  Visited PM on three separate occasions to soak up atmosphere for 5 mins but that's enough of "Brits abroad".   Each to their own & fun can be had by all - it's just that some folks want to cross that line.

Just seen a video of fans in the square giving a rendition of 10 German Bombers, don't really get the relevance/point singing that when they're in Spain following Leicester but each to their own....

Same bunch who thought they were supporting Liverpool, not Leicester, on Sunday no doubt.

Find it very weird personally.

Would you really get THAT upset over someone sticking a Spanish flag sticker on you?

Do those "kick me" and "Onion nob" post it notes still hurt today from school?

Even if you do I don't think a police beating is fair game.

Onion nob lol

A flare which is illegal in Spain.

No idea - foreign supporters always seem to bring loads to the KP

the initial one was only produced for a Spanish TC crew

once the plod came in for a look, those who had drunk too much found it all too much to cope with and baited them - response was predictable but the whole thing was unnecessary - prior to it all, the atmosphere was relaxed. Now it's going to be shit and tense for the rest of the day

Wonder how many of these lads got a kicking...

Doesn't matter Sol. The fact is they are illegal, as is stealing beer from an unmanned bar, as is refusing to co-operate with the GC or PN.

I don't make the laws - and there are many that I disagree with, but I follow them. FWIW flares inside grounds in Spain are treated differently precisely because of the danger they pose in a confined space.

Yeah, I agree with you in a way. But if the PN or GC are as twitchy as the reports in this thread and the UK media, it's pretty much nailed on they're gonna respond to any hint of trouble accordingly. And it's no surprise that the pissed-up contingent lead to the trouble. Please understand (shit, I sound like Nintendo) I don't necessarily condone the police behaviour, but you know..

I'm not suggesting otherwise, I'm just putting cited examples out there for balance, that's all.
