Marvin Johnson will be the centre of attention at Oxford this weekend with a host of Premier League clubs due to check on the talented left-footer.

A number of scouts from top-flight clubs, including Leicester, Liverpool and Everton, are expected to watch the 26-year-old against Shrewsbury on Sunday.

Not sure why we're watching a 26 year old left-back in league 1, when we have Chilwell and Fuchs.

not saying this guy's the answer but we're probably trying to sign someone that can replace schlupp & is comfortable playing LB & LM.

we have chilwell but realistically he isn't great at LM.

I remember another defender in his mid 20's signed from Oxford United who went on to be one of the best players in our clubs history.

obviously we don't want another player like schlupp, who has pace and power but no end product.

but someone that can play LB/LM & is technically gifted, direct & has a good final ball would be a welcomed addition imo. right now we only have two wingers with a good end product.

His best position is left midfield, but even so, I'd be surprised if Oxford get any offers from PL clubs. He's had some very good games, but doesn't offer the level of consistency necessary in PL. My guess is he will still be at Oxford next season, but if a large enough offer is made (he's only a year into a 3 year contract) it wold be by a Championship club.

I rated him always thought he was pretty good! Always chipped in with a goal or two

yep in our club you have to be consistent like last season. Or consistently crap like this season. Or you have to be like Mahrez and be consistently inconsistent.

I changed that for you as in reality he got 5 goals in 74 appearance

We had a scout at an Oxford game a while ago so lazy journalists assumed we were watching Johnson

They were wrong

I'd like a young centre half no one has heard of from a lower league team

were we scouting a young centre half?
