Noticed on the page of quotes from Arsenal fans an article about how their fans have complained to the F.A. about Bennys foul on Giroud (an open letter perhaps). They want "Retroactive action". The ref saw something, made a decision, showed a card, rightly or wrongly it was dealt with at the time. It was a strange challenge and his studs were in his back but with Girouds backing in going unpunished it was the only space left to get a run or any kind of leverage into a jump! If it had been the other way round we'd probabley want a red card but it seems to be a response to the Sanchez incident. Benny wasn't sneakily hiding his challenge, not like one of those where Alli or Costa happen to land on an opponents limb so it's not in that worst category.

Fuchs could have been booked for ungentlemanly conduct if the contact from the throw was deemed intentionally malicious but during that whole incident Fuchs first intent is to propel a long throw into the box ASAP. When it becomes not possible he proves a point about Sanchez's proximity and wins a free kick with potentially more danger than a throw. Wengers bleating that the ref did not ask Sanchez to move....well he doesn't remind players not to handball or not foul either, once the ball became active again Sanchez can be done for obstruction and/or ungentlemanly conduct.

If you notice before the Benny incident Giroud was backing up looking behind him for Benny's location started going down before Benny tried to mount him (excuse the pun !! LOL)  he went for the foul it wasn't as if Benny went in to take him out, his jump for the ball was impeded by Giroud backing into him !!

Must say tho Arsenal have some talented players and should let their talent shine instead of their incessant cheating from the likes of Sanchez Ozil Giroud etc etc etc !!

Just can't hate him, what a player.

I can. Same with Suarez.

That's whats more annoying if anything. They're such gifted footballers, there's no need to be such utter helmets.

Obviously. He was making a point.

Just as countless footballers kicking a free kick at point blank against a defender that refuses to get back is making a point.

I'd do exactly the same.

Arsenal fans are some of the most absurd kids on social media. Just ignore it.

Him doing it deliberately was the best bit.

Don't agree.

Really don't agree. I think you fly in to a leg breaking tackle, that's pretty much up there with the worst thing you can do. What's the worst that happens to Giroud there? It's a bit sore tomorrow.

Nobody can complain if Benny gets red carded, it was dirty, but literally all of us said that in the match thread. It's no worse than Wasyl's forearm smash on Costa. It's dirty, yeah okay, nobody here argued with that, but what lasting harm does it do to anyone?

Sanchez, however, is part of a generation that are perpetually reinforcing this culture of cheating. That wasn't just a dive, he didn't just go down easily under a tackle (although he did do so several times last night) he completely simulated contact to the face to try and get someone sent off.

It was ****ing abysmal just as it was when Rivaldo did it and Rivaldo drew pretty much universal contempt for it.

I mean next you're going to claim Vinnie Jones' grabbing Gaza's balls was worse then Maradona's hand of god because Maradona didn't injure anyone.

I agree with most of what you say but the reason I'm totally indifferent to it is cos it was in the 91st minute and it had zero influence on the outcome of the game. Maradona cheating changed the result.

Players dive every week to get a player sent off or get a pen to change the result (Gaston Ramirez the latest example) but there's less outrage over that than this incident. Sanchez for rightly booked for his cuntish behavior.

Maybe I'm too desensitised to all these shenanigans in football.

Also, I gotta be honest, I like bastards. I like having proper bastards in my team like Vardy, Costa, Alli, Suarez etc with a bastard manager like Simeone who shithouse their way to success :D  Maybe I'm a little sick in the head but I'm a big fan of shithouse tactics.

Wenger making excuses and trying to deflect the blame from his player is making it worse and makes him and his club look scummy.  His quote on the BBC "In the first two attempts when Fuchs tried to throw the ball in, Sanchez stood next to him and didn't know he had to be further away," said Wenger.

I find it hard to believe that someone playing football all his life didn't know that rule.

Yeah but I like my bastards to be running around the pitch kicking everything that moves and trying to fight their own shadows.

I love Wasyl, best player we've had in twenty years and he's barely played a game. He'd elbow your throat soon as look at you and then stare a hole through your head for having the audacity to object. Brilliant.

What I can't be doing with is melty little weeds like Sanchez, Biscuits, Rivaldo and whoever else rolling around covering their faces when clearly nobody went near them. ****ing man up.

I don't agree with what Vardy did vs Samir Nasri but let's be clear about this, Nasri DID retaliate, DID go head to head with Vardy, SHOULD have been booked and what Vardy did was exaggerate his reaction to make sure the ref spotted it.

It was cringe worthy in its execution and it was dick behaviour, okay.

But what he didn't do and I've never seen him do is rolling around pretending to be in pain somewhere he's never even been touched because he's hoping to get someone punished.

To be honest, the only person I've seen even come close to that on our team is Riyad and instead of howling at the ref a la Arsenal fans, I've only ever heard the people around me in the ground screaming at Mahrez to grow a pair and get up.

I'd hate to see the state of Sanchez's shoulder this morning. Based on how easily he wounds, I wonder if he still has a shoulder?

Vardy has never gone down like that,Sanchez is an unbelievable player with great talent who ruins it with shit like this !

Ive never seen Vardy go down like he's been hit with a crow bar in the face 30 seconds after being hit on the shoulder !!

Vardy has gone down a little too easily in the box but never cheated like Sanchez !!

Sorry Vardy did similar with Nasri and loves a swan dive. It's all the same for me.

Vardy at least doesn't try to hide it.

If a footballer bets a £1 or bets £600, he still breaks the rules.

I wish more football fans would just be honest about players, even if it means players from THEIR own teams. For any Arsenal fan to even try to argue that Fuchs was the most at fault is bordering on lunacy.

I feel sorry for Sanchez he is now unable to heal the complete loss of his integrity.

@Col city fan I agree but that goes for a few on here too when Vardy and Mahrez play for professional fouls - Vardy especially goes looking for a foul as often as he goes looking to get a shot off.

Absolutely mate. I think we all know that Vardy can be a diving little scum bag, don't we?

(Or is that too strong?)

lol

I cannot see how a single Arsenal fan can have any complaint with what Fuchs did. Sanchez asked for a booking and got it. Anyone saying Fuchs deserves a card genuinely needs to watch another sport.

Would have been interesting if the referee had sent Fuchs off for violent conduct. It might have been referred to the FA for the player attempting to have an opponent dismissed for violent conduct by faking injury. These were the new rules brought in:

Quote

The FA has also sought to address the few occasions when a player attempts to have an opponent dismissed for violent conduct by faking injury or exaggeration.

If the dismissed player is successful in overturning his sending-off and it is clear that the opposing player had not, for example, been struck as implied/claimed or at all, then a disciplinary charge may follow.

So had Fuchs have been shown a second yellow, this couldn't apply.
