Foxes96 Posted 30 April 2017 Posted 30 April 2017 Also if Manure were to win the europa league they are then into next seasons champions league as well as the top 4, so would the next best 3 teams be in the europa league due to the winners of the FA and League cup being in the top 4. So would hypothetically the 6, 7, and 8th placed teams be in the europa league for next season. There's probably a flaw in my argument somewhere but after the season we've had quarter finals of the champions league and a place in Europe would be a pretty good season all in all!!

Jattdogg Posted 30 April 2017 Posted 30 April 2017 Could we, yes. I think its extremely tight and given how close all the teams are it will be very tough. We have two very hard games left which i cant see us taking any points from (but hey we did last year). I hope we do but i think we will finish somewhere between 10 and 12. Im just glad we didnt get relegated. This season has been a writeoff (except the champs league).

I reckon it would be great, if Hull and Swansea get 40pts, so long as we carry on picking up points. Make the run- in interesting, and set A few hearts flattering, nerves a jingling. Its that bit of EOS spice the PL needs.

ajthefox Posted 30 April 2017 Posted 30 April 2017 West Brom aren't going anywhere but down as it stands, they've tanked since hitting 40 so are definitely there for the taking but I think Southampton will pip us to 8th. They've got a game in hand on us and are a point ahead, and although they've got Arsenal, Liverpool and Man Utd still to play I think they'll cause at least one upset out of those 3 and will probably beat Stoke and Middlesbrough.

That's a certain 3 points. No way is this the second best season in our history even if we finish 8th. Winning the League cup and finishing top ten was better and runners up in the 1920s probably better. The late run has papered over what has generally been a woeful season. Record player investment and some terrible results and performances. One very decent result against Sevilla does not disguise a very average season.

UEFA regulations say its 7 maximum. Check Spain this season. They had 5 teams in the Champions League if you include Villarreal in the playoff spot. Then 2 in Europa League (Bilbao and Celta)....which later came three as Villarreal were knocked out of the playoffs.

ARM1968 Posted 1 May 2017 Posted 1 May 2017 Southampton are looking a bit wobbly. I think we could nick 8th with consistent hungry football from now until the end of the season. Its in on the players hands to reach that goal and show the owners that they can and will play for Shaky.
