Arsenal have reached their non-homegrown limit so will have to wait to sell one before Mahrez potentially joins.

He is not going to arsenal... they just used him to get the others to be sensible.

We now have to pick up the pieces.

This is funny.

Not really bothered if he stays or goes now, I see positives in both scenarios (Provided we get the money we want ).

This will probably happen repeatedly him this summer. He's the perfect pawn for any manager trying to convince a potential new signing that they have other options - affordable, willing to leave, talented.

It's his own fault for making, or at least approving, that unnecessary statement.

Wouldn't be in the least bit surprised if he ends up staying. Are they still taking 13/1?

7-1 on sky bet £31750 max stake if interested and confident.

This is amusing.

He should have put a shift in from the very first game of last season instead of prancing about like some wannabe footballing legend.  I read today that he'd want Messi in his dream team.  lol

He's got no chance of getting anywhere near a team Messi is in.

He should just stay now, knuckle down and be our luxury player for the next 10 or so years, Southampton kept hold of Matt Letiss(however it's spelt) so I don't think he'll do any better if he leaves.

Yeah I saw that on his twitter account when naming the perfect five a side football team.

He only allowed two forwards ... so the first choice was obviously himself and he allowed Messi to partner him up front.

The lad does not lack belief in his own ability

He also said Zidane would be the supply line..

Not sure Riyad would be in Lionel's perfect five a side football team though.

Am I the only one who actually hopes Mahrez will now get snapped up?

On his day, he's world class..I've said that before and genuinely think it.

But have we, as a team, relied too much on giving him the ball and expecting him to do something brilliant with it time after time after time? We saw last season that he was a known quantity..he was being man marked and doubled up on, many times.

Hes said he wants out, and I'm not sure I'd want to keep a player who has said he wants it. There is no bigger indication of his heart not being in the club, than that.

It would be interesting to see who we brought in, how we changed our style of play, who flourished etc, if the reliance WASNT on Mahrez anymore.

And if we got, say, 40 mill for him, that could be used on buying our marquee player (whoever that was) to start off a new stage in the club's development.

Agree..

Especially after his performances and attitude last season..

Get rid and reinvest the money into players who want to play for LCFC!

I'll be disappointed if he stays now.

If the rumours from behind the scenes are true - then i'd prefer him to go as well, it would be a shame if he had a sad end here but unfortunately in football there are always a lot of people advising these players nowadays, most of the time for self gain - and it would not surprise me if his agent has dropped him in it here by filling his head with notions like, "your so much better than the rest of the players here" and etc - also looking for a nice signing on fee himself - after no doubt getting a nice one from us a while ago when Riyad signed his new deal.

But if Riyad handled it in the right way (ala pre-season sorted out the unease between him and others from last year) and got himself refocused then i think anyone would be happy to see him stay here. I would hope if this happened he never asked to leave the club again though - and simply just waited to see if any interest came in for him quietly - don't get me wrong i understand why he felt issuing a statement saying he wanted to leave was the best idea (as he wanted to be honest to the fans as well) but it's caused him an issue as clubs will only submit daft offers which we are going to have to negotiate harder with - which in turn means any deal is going to take a hell of a lot of time to work out.

Or we could spunk it on a 'flatters to deceive' Algerian and a truly awful Nigerian winger from Russia and be no better off.

I would rather have Mahrez (however frustrating) over another two signings like the ones above, tbh.
