Danny Simpson says Leicester City are ready to challenge for Europe again next season – if they keep Riyad Mahrez and boss Craig Shakespeare.

He's been missing practically all this season so we've already had a taste with life without Mahrez... Never has there been a clearer case of a player who doesn't want to be here.. Bye bye Riyad thanks for 2015/16 but quite frankly you've been a disgrace this season!

Yes out of form, double and treble marked as we do not have the quality individual match winners so he is easy to target. To say he is a bad apple is absolute rubbish as he is one of the most down to earth and well liked member of the squad - fact!

He would admit himself that he has had a poor season but not through lack of effort but he is absolute quality like we will probably never see again - some fans really don't appreciate what we have witnessed over the past 2-3 years and will only realise as we move forward. Gray is a different matter as he is one young man who has a different attitude!

Riyad leaving will be a sad day and watch to see what he achieves at a bigger club to realise how good he is!!

What evidence do you have that he is a 'bad apple'?

He's a popular member of the squad, not to mention the most gifted player we'll ever have play for us.

He's had a crap season, yes, but have a bit more respect for the guy after all he's done for us.

You'll miss him when he's gone.

No one could really question his outragious ability, he's very special in that department.

Neither would I personally question a loss of form as it happens to most players.

However, a lack of effort and being unfit is not forgiveable when you're on  £100,000 a week! Until a few weeks ago you could see him gasping for breath 10 minutes before half time without putting half the effort of his team ates.  He'd then be knackered after 60 minutes. Totally inexcusable.

Vardys own comments live on TV denounced him as a poor trainer and always late and that is backed up by other sources known to my son at the training ground. For me, being late for training on a regular basis equals disrespect for his manager, coach, teammates and ultimately the owners who reward him handsomely. Do you really think he'd be allowed to get away with that at certain other clubs? It also tends to show a lack of balls by Shakespeare  who continues to play him, possibly in fear he may leave.

Those things to me also equals a bad egg also like the original person who commented and such behaviour can spread. If you were a player on half the money, why should you make the effort if lazy boy is allowed to get away with it?  It's no good keeping a player with all the ability in the world if he can't be bothered to use it for the benefit of your team. When a loss of form happens, the top players work even harder until it returns.

Lets enjoy what weve achieved. We are miles away from top 4 but with some shrewd investments we may be able to challenge for Europa. Mahrez is def off and whilst Dannys words are nice to read, even he himself is now on the wrong side of the curve for striving for bigger and better.

Not really what he said

There is a lot of sentiment in what Danny is saying here and memories of an incredible season last year. But finally after full time today, we can draw a line under all of that and look ahead. There is a chance that neither will be starting for us next season to be honest.

For me Mahrez needs to go for the good of everyone. Himself and Damari Gray especially. I think Shakey deserves the job now, so give him the time to get some fresh faces in and build a side with his own brand of football, not Claudios "Rob and Run" style.

If we keep the likes of Kasper, Drinky, Vardy, Gray, Ndidi, Huth for next year, we have the spine of a good team. Around that, I really think it may be time for some change.

I think as a club we may have been too guilty for looking back this year and not forward. We should have packed Bocceli and Ranieri away weeks ago before the match for example.

Maybe a bit of revolution required now, not evolution. Mahrez especially as come to the end of the line here. Let's cash in and move on.

But they didn't have to spend 30- 40 million on Lingaard first , then pay him 100k a week...

Of course clubs would be willing to give him 100k p/w even after the season he's had. Lingaard is on 100k ffs

Stupid Chelsea should have sold Eden Hazard last year. Maybe they would have won the title this season.

Nonsensical reply, as you can't respond with statistical facts to contradict my post.

If you need those facts go to Let's show Mahrez we want him to stay thread.

Codswallop

did you even watch the interview?

clealry no is the answer or you wouldn't have posted that

and you accuse him of disrespecting the fans .............

So him saying he wants to play in the CL next season; and he was given a gentlemans agreement that he could go; and the fact we we won't be in the CL: and we are still playing this season makes my statement 'codswallop'?

HES CLEARLY STATING HE WANTS TO LEAVE

His poor season had been down to the general malaise of the team for half the season.

His general inability to play for the team, rather than himself.

His lack of effort and desire in many games this season, contrary to your view above.

( for me mahrez  needs to go of  the  good of  everyone ) you  bet , the  owners stick at  him snd  and begged him  to stay new cobtrac  without clause and  raneiri  asked to  give him  one more  season and  now  shakespeare,  vardy  want  to stay  if mahrez  stays, and  dsnny  have  just  said  it ,

So mahrez   Will leave  to  a  top  european  club because he  is  a  world class  not pushed  out the  club

The way Marhez has been allowed to behave both at the training ground and on the pitch leads me to question whether Shakespeare is the man for the job. He's undoubtedly a great coach but sometimes when required a manager has to be a complete bastard, whilst at times he needs to put an arm round a player. None of them seem to have managed Marhez properly. Shakespeare also alluded to the fact that against Spurs some of them didn't do what they were asked? Weak management?  Perhaps he's too close to the players.

mahrez will definitely go

He'll force a move like payet did,

but good riddance as far as I'm concerned,

hes a bad apple

And you are who in the squad?

Or are you Gray's agent?

You just have to love how people on a forum talk about players like they know them personally.

Mahrez may play poorly at times and is often in and out of games. But be careful what you wish for! He is the most naturally gifted player we have had in a city shirt for the last 40 years. Since Frank Worthingtin.

He is quality on his day sadly I agree with most that it is not often enough.

If today is his his last game for us then let's be thankful for what we have seen down here and applaud him.

he had the chance to force a move last summer but didn't out of respect for the owners, players and fans. He is on record as saying he wanted to leave. the fact he stayed shows he is anything but a 'bad apple'.

Show some respct for someone who showed it to you.

You and mahrez should get a room

So because I say I've been told something that means I'm acting as if I know the players,

im gonna stop my comment on this now 'sylo',

as having read your comments on other topics, you seem to lose it if someone dares question your opinion,

and yes I'm questioning your opinion

The disrespect towards Riyad from some of you peasants

Peasants, the people that pay his wages,

this is a forum aswell you know where people can argue there case for and against,

do you actually understand the word peasants, because that a ridiculous statement to make

Being realistic I can't see us challenging for top 6, I think we can and should aim for top 10 and take the cups seriously as a more realistic way of getting back into Europe.

Tenth and a cup win would be an amazing season.

He just wants us to keep Mahrez so that he can sit back and barely go forward.

If we play Albrighton on the right, he'll be rightfully criticized for being a lazy defender who is useless going forward.

What a terrible, terrible opinion. He's not very good going forwards but not because he's lazy, he's a defender first and foremost and that suits our style of play.

They do indeed, but their Football section is top class and is independent from the foulness of the rest of the rag
