Who's our head scout?

Recommended Posts

I think it's David Mills.

Macia is 'Head Of Recruitment' whatever that actually means.

David Mill's wikipedia page does suggest he's "head scout" which is reassuring providing it's not bullshit. Macia is "head of recruitment" yet our website doesn't mention him.

No Mahrez. No Macia. No manager. I shall now return to the U23 thread and imagine they're all Premier League quality and fit in our formation perfectly.

It's fine, it's fine:

N’Golo Kanté was the player’s name, and Ranieri – as he would later admit – did not know much about him. Ranieri was far from alone in that respect – plenty of other Premier League managers have since questioned how he slipped under their radar – but Walsh and his recruitment team had done their homework. David Mills, Leicester’s senior scouting coordinator, had been to see Kanté play for Caen, and clips and statistics were put together to highlight the midfielder’s talent.

Our non-mythical head of recruitment can find someone like Kanté, and then David can put a dossier together, and our hopefully non-mythical head of recruitment can look at it, and then tell our non-existent manager to buy him. Sorted.

Sod it.

We need a big-name fast counter attacking manager - who's got a large list of excellent fast counter attacking players he wants and who want to play for him - to make up for the fact our head of recruitment was brought in a year ago by the manager we sacked.

I looked at the wikipedia page and it sounds like he works under Walshy rather than any particular club?

"Mills has since worked closely with Steve Walsh at Leicester City and Hull City, as a chief scout Mills has worked alongside Walsh to bring young emerging talent to Leicester City and Hull City with many ex-Manchester United youth players now found at both clubs."

Sounds like he worked with Walsh at here and Hull, but I'm not sure if he's also at Everton. There's nothing on the web about it anyway.

There's the idea that Walsh took credit for David Mills' finds (I read it on an Everton website article comment - it's cast iron). But surely the head of recruitment directs the head scout somewhat. Gueye was certainly a good find for Everton this season and someone we would have loved here.

If Walsh leaving and Macia arriving - who surely didn't have as much a grip on our tactics as Walsh did - disrupted scouting significantly then I despair at our recruitment this pre-season.

Walsh was scouting Musa well before the summer& Mendy I assume was Claudio's. Not sure about Hernandez.

Fairly sure it was reported we were looking at Mendy before Claudio as well, could be wrong though.

Hernandez was a good find imo, good stats and la liga team of the year on a free transfer. Got to be Walsh.

That was before we decided he was actually a RB even though he wasn't.

I had forgotten about that game. I didn't think he was too bad actually that day, but thought he should definitely have had another chance after Morgan and Huth looked so poor for weeks.

Hopefully we apply the same logic to Benny and Fuchs as both of those proved they're not centre backs. Especially at this level.

To be fair he is probaly really good in a Spanish speaking team where everyone understands him.. He didn't speak any english and joined a team that didnt play position based football. Vital for a center back to be able to communicate with everyone.

Poor scouting to be honest based on that.

Mendy was Walsh/Pearson.

Was originally the 'number one' on the list where we eventually settled for 'target 2', (Kante) !

Nope - Kante was ALWAYS Walsh's number one target. Ranieri had worked with Mendy at Monaco.
