Membership 17/18

I'm still not sure I've done the right thing. I knew as a gold member i would get a ticket for most matches, and so , as I live outside of the UK it was easy to pick and choose.

Now it's down to a ballot.  My 15 year son who is also a member has less loyality points than me, so I'm not sure how it will work out. I suppose time will tell.

Frankly, I don't think the scheme needed changing.

The previous system worked really well for those of us who live far from the ground, especially with multiple memberships so friends can go to.  The new system will screw those folk over if they didn't attend many home games last season.

I fear you may be right, however let's just give it a go for a year. As I've said previously, I think we may be surprised at how high up the priority order 15 points will get you. There will be a few who got to all or nearly all games last season, but because of the nature of memberships, I don't think there will be too many that got to more than half. We may be pleasantly surprised.

If halfway through the season we find we can't seem to get tickets, we can rethink our stance.

Last season you could have got tickets for most of the home games even if you were a City Fox member. That means that come the start of the season, if you had a membership last year, you will have priority over any newcomers this season. Therefore it should be fairly comfortable to get tickets for at least half the games.

If you didn't attend any games last season, for whatever reason (and it may be a good one) then you will likely miss out on a fair few games. However, no doubt there will be opportunities to go watch some home games and build up your points tally.

At the end of the day this is the fairest way for the majority of fans. Of course, if it doesn't apply to someone and gives them a disadvantage, that automatically makes the scheme unfair! The club have actually put some thought and effort into this and listened to the fans. If you didn't give any input into those sessions then it really is your own fault for not making your voice heard.

Bottom line, I am sure if you have a membership this season (2017/18) then you will get to see a fair amount of games. Fair enough if you are only bothered about Man U, Chelsea and the likes then you may be in for a tough one. If you just want to go to any game then I am sure opportunities will arise. Demand is currently outstripping supply and the club are tied down by that. Ground expansion sounds like the simple answer and I am sure that is mentioned regularly but it is not an easy business decision and equally hard to approve and get done.

If people have until 31st August to renew a membership and carry the points over, is there anything to stop us waiting to see what the priority points requirement is for the first home game before deciding whether to bother?

I'd be on 17 so if that would only get me into a ballot for the first game it seems a particularly poor investment of £60.

I think you're over estimating how many members went to the majority of games last season, you might find its a lot lower than you think.

People choose membership over a ST for various reasons, (let's leave out the fact ST are sold out for this), they have a membership because they can't commit to every game, are on low pay and can't afford every home game, work weekends, nights, or simply just want to go to a handful a season, or worst case they're rugby fans as well and can't go every weekend to a game.

Family has a big say, if you've got a few kids it can get very expensive for just a single match.

Therefor the tickets might not sell out as fast as a major concert, yes some members last season bought to sell on with no intention of going, it happens on the away games so it's bound to happen at home, but I think for home games you'd stand a very good chance with a history of points already.

I'm gonna ignore the home ticket system for a minute (we know the "extensive research" had nothing to do with how to satisfy the most fans, but rather how to get the most money from the most people).

Giving 2% of away tickets to members for every game is a piss take. It would be much fairer to start all members off on the same priority level as new STHs (100 points I think it is?), so that they have a chance to build up a chance of getting a ticket for the popular away games. There's always a handful of games that don't sell out. Go to the ones like Swansea, Southampton, Newcastle and then you'll have a shot at Stoke, Everton, West Ham, and then you'll have a shot at Liverpool, Chelsea, United.

At the minute there are a few non-STHs going to these less popular games because they have no choice- give them a chance to earn their way up the ladder, not a divine right to get a ticket. I know it's 'only' 2%, but the club are taking from the loyal, to give to the rich just so they have a new selling point that lines their pockets even more.

All members should not start on 100 points, STH have committed to two years of paying full price up front for a ST, they've got a right to be above a member who only paid £50-£90 before the season starts.

The 2% is a whole new can of worms, I think it's wrong as do a lot of others but the club's chosen to go that way, we will have to see how it goes regarding selling out before the last ST priority date.

Even as a member, I can see how the 2% allocation is wrong. A STH who has 150+ points should have priority over me for away tickets-absolutely no doubt. With most games 2% equates to about 60 tickets anyway, so I can't even see how it really sells as a member benefit, as the chance of being selected in the ballot is so minimal (apart from the Swansea, Southampton where they always make general sale anyway).

That being said, I do remember saying last year that because of the hefty membership fee, and lets be clear because of the membership fee a lot of members will pay as much if not more than ST holders over the course of a season, members should be treated equally to ST holders. For example, I couldn't understand why ST holders got a fiver per ticket discount for the CL games over members-that was a kick in the teeth. A discount on general sale, yes, but over members, no.

There are also members who pay out the match day prices for tickets and spend far more than the cost of a season ticket every year.

Apologies if answered above, but how many points do you reckon you need to get first dibs at ticket's this coming season? I will have 31 and my wife 29 (assuming 15 points for gold membershipand 1 point for each game attended).

Thanks.

Seeing as the maximum possible points is 34 I think you must already know that you're going to be absolutely fine, no?

Ah. I didn't do the sums! Would be gutted if me and mrs couldn't get seats together, as she attended 2 fewer games than me.

But they don't commit to a full season before a ball has even been kicked do they like STH?

The Answer can only be no, yes they'll pay more in the long run if they attend 19 games but that's why you buy a ST instead. You commit to a whole campaign.

That doesn't make it right to allocate a percentage of away tickets before a STH who missed out.

The lady I spoke to at the ticket office yesterday seemed to firmly believe that anyone who purchased a gold membership last season would automatically be priority for booking when I expressed my concerns about renewing only to enter a ballot.

Still won't be renewing till I've seen it in writing mind.

Hi new poster, long time lurker.

Ive been reading this thread with interest, as I have been waiting for the new membership details to be released.

Me and my 2 kids are silver members.

And my booking history for the 3 of us only puts us on 14 points.

We actually attended 12 each..

3 x champions league not included.

2 x player escort games ( tickets bought through lads football club ) not included

2 x coporate jollys .. fair enough not included.

only twice all season did I manage to book 3x tickets next to each other, and I was logged in and ready at 9am for each release.

This rewarding loyalty etc is a load of cack ..

How does the club view loyalty ?

Just a quick calculation in my head so excuse me if the figures are not exact.

I can't check for certain as the direct site is down as per usual

My last seasons costs ...

3x silver memberships £110 I think

champions league £45,£30,20 x 3

league games approx £45-65 x 4

kids flag waving tickets ... 1 kid free

£45 x 2

jollys x 2 free

so I spent around £700 quid .. and I've got 14 points !

He champions league games can't be included as these aren't included for anyone else either. If you can evidence to the club that you paid for the other tickets I don't see why they can't credit the point to your account - doesn't matter how you bought them.

STH also had to pay for champions league games remember, yes I understand that over the course of a season it can be more expensive but you surely weren't expecting the club to base membership on how much money you pay when this was the biggest cause of complaints last year.

Theyve listened to supporters and have came up with a way of calculating who goes to games the most to reward them with the chance to go to more games.

that's the terms of the new membership isn't it? It's first-come first-served for those with enough priority based on games attended last season. Having a gold membership last season is partly relevant. Bears more relevance if you attended enough games on that membership to then get the points needed for this season.

Then those who miss out after that period go in to a ballot for remainder of tickets...

I'll be in a similar position, with one of my sons being one point below me and and my other son. They're both young so we all have to sit together.   I guess it depends if the priority window is staggered, and what the cut offs are.  Even with a one point difference, we may end up in the same "category"

I get what your saying and agree to an extent, but like it or not in all other businesses "loyalty" it is to do with amount spent.

Spend more ..get more loyalty points.

The club make a lot of money from members, from the actual fee and from the overpriced tickets that we have to scratch around for.

As for the membership Benefits..

like I mentioned I could only get 3 adjacent seats twice all season.

Our champions league tickets were a fiver more ..why ?

In the past 12 months  my 9 yr old wtf? had 2 emails from the club, 3 yes 3 indentical under 7s champions leagues packs delivered to the wrong address, ...after the group stages, luckily we hadn't been knocked out.

Me and my 13yr old received no emails or contact from lcfc all season  no champions league packs, no members cards .. nothing.

complain ? What's the point

 yea I will be renewing

Hi guys have had quick glance thru this thread and don't see any mention of the International Membership here or elsewhere on the forum...According to the online brochure Int membership cost £20 for the year...For this you get the little momentos of Ipad case, scarf and pin badge but most importantly this year they say the Club are holding back a limited number of tickets for EVERY PREMIER LEAGUE match(something I have suggested and been seeking for past couple of years) that int members will be able to enter a ballot for.....This to me means home and away matches....Have any of the overseas based members on here got further info on it yet ? Can somebody give me contact details for someone reliable in membership/ticket office eg  Jim so I can try and get further info on how many tickets are been held back etc..........Along with my daughter was a Silver member last season...Got to Wembley and 5 home matches ...2 Champions League and 3 premiership ....Could have gone to most home matches as availailiy was there if  I had a bigger Bank Balance ...It's a bit of a conundrum trying to figure out will we be better going with this £20 package or will we have better chance of tickets  by paying the extra £40 for normal membership...

Chrome wasn't working for some reason, tried on Safari and the payment went through, I agree mate, there was flexibility. I usually attend 8-10 home premier league games a season, and do about 6-7 away games, if I can still do that I will be pleased.

You talk about loyalty, I've had a season ticket since the Milan M days and been to some shit holes in League 1. I've also spent a lot of money and now enjoyed going to Europe. Were in the big league and doing well everybody wants to get off the sofa and come to the ground instead of being sky sports arm chair fans. If we get relegated try then there will be plenty of tickets then.

Loyalty is about going through the bad times and coming out the other end and staying faithful. Not just about moaning at the club because you can't get a ticket now.
