Would you take Jesus Navas on a free transfer?

Yes. He'd be a good option, better than Musa.

If we keep Mahrez, yes. No nonsense, old fashioned winger.

This reeks of Inler.

Can see this being a waste of money and the chap will be back in Spain by January.

On the basis of what?

Inler hardly got a kick for Napoli whereas Iborra is the skipper of a 3 time europa league winning side and key member of its team for the last 5 seasons.

Yet they are willing to get rid? He's touching 30 if he's so key why are they getting rid? You have to ask why... More than likely because he's on the decline?

Also as mentioned he's touching 30 - Spent the majority of his time in La Liga which granted the technical aspects of the bigger teams are ahead of Premier League teams but the intensity on a week by week basis is not. It'll take him 6 months just to get used to that and by that point the decline would have fully kicked in and we'll be stuck with a player that really hasn't got the engine for his position in the Premier League.

Inler looked good when he had time and space to spray a few nice balls around but once the pressure was cranked up he couldn't cope. People will quote Cambiasso but Cambiasso was a world class player in his day and very intelligent. Iborra has never been no-where near world class.

I just don't understand the negativity? He is 29 not 36 like you're making out.

It could be worse - 23 could be Burnley and signing Jon Walters

I'm just suspicious of a club thats letting the Captain of 3 Europa League winning campaigns and from all accounts a huge influence in the dressing room go without much of a resistance. Usually you keep that experience and influence around no? You wouldn't see us letting Morgan go for pretty much any price despite his age, injury and physical decline.

I just can't see what he's going to add because it will take a year for him to learn English so that influence and experience isn't going to come straight away either.

As for the Burnley comment we should be aiming higher than them of course but part of the problem is Burnley that Sean Dyche is so insecure he will be cheap so he can cling onto the excuse of not having money. I refuse to believe that after 3 seasons worth of Premier League money in the last 4 seasons that Burnley are still broke. They don't have a new stadium to pay for and they pay thier players peanuts - anyway I digress.

That really is thoroughly depressing.

Champions in 2017...lining up like that in 2018.

Leicester that.

Did you watch Chillwell in the U21? Bloke is rapid!!

I understand what you are saying but it would only be painful if we still tried to play on the counter.... the system you've laid out would be much more direct and to the point with through balls etc etc... it might not be beautiful but it could well be effective.

Am I the only person who gets AKCJ mixed up with AjcW?

A year ago Sunderland had him in their grasp only for Sevilla to pull put of the deal last minute after fan revolt etc. They have not let him go easily.

As long as their partners don't, it's probably okay.

Just to get a bit of a register of how exactly that is depressing (looks ideal for away games/hard home games to me) How exactly is having one of the most promising left backs and one of the most promising DM's in the league, together with FIVE people who have captained at one time or another depressing?

I understand your point is to do with creativity but an attacking 4-4-1-1 version of this in Home games would look much more creative and the issue with us last season was no plan B... this looks a good plan B to me.

James for king on the bench and kelechi instead of deeney and I'd be happy with that against the tougher opposition in the league.

Not too downbeat about this but not too enthused.

Bit of  Sainsburys/ Tesco signing..... bit like Deeney.

We're not shopping at Aldi/LIdl thank God now but would like better.

Kelechi would be a Waitrose level signing and quite exciting.

Don't think Shakey and Appleton are the kind of men to go shopping at Harrods so need to be realistic.

thats a fact

So you're saying we should be signing more cabbages ?

If he ends up being a solid, reliable, calming presence just in front of the defence then that will be a welcome addition.  For a lot of last season Drinky was pretty poor, all he was doing was dropping deep and passing the ball back to Morgan and Huth who would just pass the ball back to the other team. whether that was a combination of CR's tactics, injury or confidence he didn't provide much.  We needed more help.

If we play a 3 in midfield he can drop deep so that Drinky and Ndidi can go forward and be around the edge of the box more often.

That's not my point at all.

He doesn't look athletic enough to play in a two man midfield and if Drinkwater comes back fully fit this season he won't be ousting Danny and Ndidi from our central midfield.

It appears to me we've fallen into the trap of spending good money on a player who is 29 and won't be a first choice when everyone is fit. We've squandered a fortune last year on Slimani, Mendy and Musa and none of them improve the first XI and this guy will probably be the same.

Hernandez was useless but I don't mind us bringing in squad players for little to no fee but when you pay big money then that should be on a young player with lots of potential that will eventually force his way into the team or on a player who is better than what we have. Spending eight figure sums on players in their mid to late 20's who aren't automatic first team players is a recipe for disaster as last summer proved.

you really do need to be getting in touch with the club, because if they only knew what you so clearly do, we would be flying. Come on, don't be selfish and share that expertise around a little so we can all enjoy the success!!
