No idea if this is a good signing or not. I really hope it is.

I think he missed the first leg against us. Not particularly impressive in the second. Watched him in one of the games between the two legs- solid in the tackle, good technically and in the air, although not particularly quick. His arrival will surely mean the departure of King, James and maybe Mendy.

Guys, we need to be shifting our perception of value in this market. Whatever you perceive to be a player's value in 2010-2015 terms, times it by ten and you're looking at a realistic expectation.

Market forces have caused this - and if there's any club who can take the hit at the moment it's ours.

Im hoping we go out and spend to compete because it's only going to get worse, and our incoming won't include CL money like it has done recently.

Matt Mills is worth £55 million, maybe Forest can be saved.

He played in both legs.

Signing a proven top quality player with exceptional leadership skills & experience for the same price we got for Schlupp is great business.

Hopefully he will have the same influence as Cambiasso had in the middle of the park in knowing when to calm things down when it's needed and being the manager on the pitch. U can't put a price on those qualities. We lacked that figure big time last yr when we were struggling.

It'll also take the pressure off Drinky & Wilf and no doubt improve them both as players.

Remember taking notice of him in the Champs league game and thinking what an absolute unit he was.

Hopefully we can follow this up with a few other big signings!

And the effect he'll have on the training pitch, a quality pro, a leader for academy players to watch, the price for quality leaders and professionals in a club is immense

Yeah precisely mate - he's already getting slagged off on here because he isn't the complete midfielder who can defend and score goals (albeit quite ironic, given that he seems to be exactly that). He's captained a transformation at Sevilla that turned them into a team that genuinely outclassed the Europa League three times. As with Cambiasso, we'd be naive not to appreciate a player at that level. Moreover, we've only seen him play one full game against us, in absolutely monstrous form - baring in mind we beat Man City and Liverpool comprehensively but couldn't outplay Millwall should suggest that he needs to be involved before anyone can really judge. Got to trust our scouting team that he's a far more valuable midfielder than King, James or Mendy.

If it's of any help to those that enquired, I'm told by a Spanish mate that Ibarra does indeed speak English. Not sure if he's fluent, or just capable of just asking the way to the railway station though !

Think one of the only other Spanish speaking players would potentially be Leo?

worked out to be a nice deal for Sevilla. replaced iborra with benega for €9m. same age but far better quality and made a few mil too.

Is this a done deal or not yet? Won't assume anything until I see that lock!

I assume it will be announced by the weekend, possibly sooner, still got medical and personal terms to get through. We haven't been the quickest at announcing signings in the past.

You sign one you get rid of three... I said you sign one you get rid of three

well injuries are an excuse because without playing time due to those injuries, they can't adapt or will take longer to. if he's consistently getting injuries, he's not going to get a good run of games and therefore not be of much use to the team?

Is that a question or a statement? It sounds like a statement but has a question mark at the end. I'm confused.

Absolutely. Pretty certain Mendy will be off as it just hasn't worked out and we've got a direct replacement in Matty James who I hope can prove his fitness in pre-season. Shakey has faith in him & He'll defo be involved if he stays fit. People seem to forget what a good player he is. Instrumental in our promotion season and was keeping Drinky out of the team in the great escape.

Watched him a few times for the U21's last yr and he was a class above.

Maguire and Iborra are the type of players (not necessarily them particularly) we should have signed last summer when we had champions league football. At least it looks like we've learnt our lesson. Happy days!
