He's fooled you then?

Amarty was tentative and cautious last autumn.   But by xmas he was starting to be confident and assertive.  I believe def mid is his best position and he was getting there.  He blew his chance by going to afcon. ... by the time he got back ndidi was here and amarty needed a few games to play himself back in. ... which he didnt get coz he was behind ndidi.   If we need him he will need to settle in again... he is young and an asset.  Ok.... he is not in our best three cms... but i would keep him.  He has potential. Surely no one is saying we have to get rid of every player who is yet to be a starting regular. ... it's a squad

how is it walsh's fault. look at who he has brought in for Everton.

Well good for Everton but they were signed when he was still here and linked to us in previous windows.

I recognise what your saying but he looks really mechanical and just seems to react rather than predict/read the game. He is so off the standard Ndidi sets. He may improve, but it all looks far too alien to him currently.

So i know we have all thought it and many said it but what an absolutely wasted year. I cant help wonder what could of been....

Can't say I'm disappointed. Something clearly went horribly wrong last year. Something significant changed in the way we were recruiting players. Clearly Shakespeare thinks they don't really fit our team / dressing room / both.

Shakey didn't really say we are getting rid for definite, just that if the right bids are received that they wouldn't be turned down.

I still think Kapustka should be given some game time or at least loaned out and then see where he is after some competitive English football. I think Slim should be kept too, he definitely has goals in him, although I do see that it may be difficult to accommodate him/keep him happy.

He cant really say more than that though or everyone will come in with ridiculously low offers...

Said nobody, ever...

Sorry Col, not serious.

No worries..I'm used to people saying they don't agree with me as they are actually agreeing with me. No skin.

Regarding Amartey, I can't see where he's gonna play? He's not a RB (which is where we need cover), we have approx one million central midfielders and of course we've just signed Arry at CB. I honestly can't see Shakey starting Amartey with Maguire? I'm pretty sure that's gonna be Huth or Wes.

I can only see Amartey playing in the cups maybe? And is he gonna be happy with that?

Even if he does have bags of potential??? I can't see how it's going to be fulfilled at City.

However, maybe he'll surprise us and Shakey fancies him to start somewhere.

It looks to me like we're trying to build a squad, like the 'big' teams do, and deal with the inevitable consequences of the pecking order.

Agree with this. He doesn't look like a natural footballer, more an athlete. This is probably why he plays CB often.

I'd personally rather play King than

Amartey. Not because he's been here for years, but because he's an intelligent footballer. He reads the game so well with and without possession. When we need someone to step in or come on, he's reliable. Amartey looks dodgy.

I'd love to be proved wrong as Amartey seems like a good pro and did well when he needed to 15/16 season.

If we get rid of a player we've only really played for 45 minutes (unless he turns into a sicknote) and our best goals per minute striker we'd be mad. I'd like to give Kap and Musa until Christmas though.

In seriousness I hope he makes me eat my words.

Same here. A quick, goal scoring Musa is what we thought we were getting last season. Let's hope it's better late, than never.

This is one of the major reasons I hoped Shakey got the job. I think he knows exactly who he wants to keep and who he don't.

The question is who will come in for them?

Can we give them to the thai government as part of paying down the fine?
