Gaz741 Posted 1 August 2017 Posted 1 August 2017 I keep hearing a lot of people say Andy King is a true club legend, been here 13 years now since academy days and seen it all. Vardy has been here 5 years but without him I don't even think we would have ever been a premier league side in those 5 years, let alone anything else. He was crucial in us getting promoted and also winning the league. For me that is a true club legend, King has been here many years but would anything really be any different without him? Not really. King isn't a legend for me, there is only one real club legend here and that is Mr Jamie Vardy.
Fox92 Posted 1 August 2017 Posted 1 August 2017 Vardy for me. He scored 20+ goals in a season where we won the first tier for the first time ever.
glenny_fox Posted 1 August 2017 Posted 1 August 2017 Has to be Vardy. For me a legend is someone that will be remembered in 50 years which I can imagine the following being said: 1) Remember all that time ago when Vardy broke the premier league scoring record to fire Leicester to the premier league title? 2) Remember all that time ago when that Andy King bloke stayed at Leicester for many years and was an average/above average player?
foxy boxing Posted 1 August 2017 Posted 1 August 2017 what would any player want appearances records or goals records! Vardy's clearly the most exciting to watch and gets more goals and the eleven Premier league games in a row he scored in will take some beating!

Not saying one is better that the other but making biased comparisons like that is pointless.
AKCJ Posted 1 August 2017 Posted 1 August 2017 Why does one have to be more of a legend than the other? They're both legends, the end.
Guest BlueBrett Posted 1 August 2017 Posted 1 August 2017 They're both club legends but Vards is an English football legend. People who wont be born for another 20 years will hear about the rags to riches fairy tale and that incredible goal scoring run
ScouseFox Posted 1 August 2017 Posted 1 August 2017 bit like saying lineker vs birch or something. people outside the club probably won't even remember what a birch is but to anyone who's ever supported us he transcends the club. id say kingy is a bigger legend of this club but on a wider scale vardy is obviously going to go down in the history of the game over king.
RobHawk Posted 1 August 2017 Posted 1 August 2017 From a club point of view it has to be kingy! 13 years service, our highest goalscoring midfielder (i believe?) and 3 league winners medals!! Outside of the club - Its easily Vardy! But how anyone on this forum can say vards and not king at this moment in time? No idea!
lgfualol Posted 1 August 2017 Posted 1 August 2017 Both are legends, one for being here ages and the other for being one of our best ever strikers.
urban.spaceman Posted 1 August 2017 Posted 1 August 2017 Which one of them is getting their own film made by Oscar winners? Settled.

GaelicFox Posted 1 August 2017 Posted 1 August 2017 Both are legends no such thing as a bigger legend What's an embarrassing thread

rn9013 Posted 1 August 2017 Posted 1 August 2017 Both club legends for me, admittedly for different reasons. I think Vardy will be remembered and talked about for future generations to come for what he achieved. King is likely to be a legend to those of us who have followed the club through the dark times and into the better, but he is unlikely to be discussed by future generations as a legend. But he's a legend to me having lived through his time with the club.
FLAN Posted 1 August 2017 Posted 1 August 2017 King is consistently overlooked for championship players by Wales. Stuff of legend

Gaz741 Posted 1 August 2017 Author Posted 1 August 2017 Wow. 17 votes for the extremely average lower end championship standard midfielder who once scored a load of goals in league 1 and the championship. Constantly lingering about at the club, has no ambition to be a starter at another club - probably because he knows no one else will pay him the same money. When he plays, he is basically invisible. He might as well not be on the pitch, and apparently he's a bigger legend than vardy. Deary me

Not saying one is better that the other but making biased comparisons like that is pointless. I think you're being a bit unfair there. If Vardy's attitude was the problem, NP would have had him out the door before his feet touched the ground. He made some mistakes and doubted himself which we've all done at some point or other and it got so bad that he wanted to turn his back on football. To me, that makes him an even bigger legend. Coming through something like that where the voice in his head is constantly telling him that he doesn't belong at that level (Championship) and working hard to get himself to the point where he is now is nothing short of phenomenal and we'll never see anything like at our club ever again.
Gaz741 Posted 1 August 2017 Author Posted 1 August 2017 And king is seen as this great legend because he's won the premier league, championship and league 1. Well vardy has won the premier league and the championship. As has drinkwater and quite a few of our players. So they aren't a big a legend as King because they didn't win league bloody 1! King was also part of the squad that got relegated to league 1. Our worst ever season.
davieG Posted 1 August 2017 Posted 1 August 2017 I really don't see the point of this poll or topic why the need to rank legends and if you feel the need why not include all the other potential legends. It strikes me as a means to slag off King, Well we already have topics where people can do that. It's just devisive and serves no real purpose
