Leicester is asking for more but hasn't set any fee nor said no yet, there's a difference. My 2 cents is that when you ask for more you think the other team can improve their offer somehow. When you say "no" it means they're nowhere near your evaluation.
whoareyaaa Posted 8 August 2017 Posted 8 August 2017 We are probably going to have to balance the books so Marhez or Drinkwater will be gone imo.

If it hasn't been rejected, although it's reported it has been, then the club is probably just fed up with the whole Roma tactics of trying to unsettle our player to force through a move on the cheap. Fake announcements of medicals etc. If I was Roma I would be taking a serious look at Lucas Perez who you probably could get well within budget and would probably do well there. If Arsenal come in with a late bid as expected for Mahrez I would hope we would ask for Perez and a decent fee if he's not already been sold by then.

In fact, I was so surprised at the time the name came out that I even thought it was an hoax... that is just to say that I'm not one who thinks "you have to sell him to us because...", just the one pointing out, on the other hand, that if Monchi is still there (after a month) there must a reason: likely; Leicester is not fed up as many people might think. As for Lucas Perez is piss poor and not a winger. He makes no sense for us to be after him.

Champions league money, and kante should have covered that bill for those players, I think we are in a good place financially, and don't think we need to sell anyone, to invest in other players

Plus Ndidi and Iborrah another 30 million, we do have to re-coup some funds from somewhere. Its not just transfer fees these player are on big contracts,it all adds up.

They want the club to be self sufficient, I don't think we're close to making a loss so there is no need to sell. £93m Premier League prize money 15/16 £120.9m Premier League prize money 16/17 £70m Champions league prize money 16/17 £10m income from Nuge, Wood, Kram etc. £33m Kante, Zieler. About another £30m income each year from tickets, shirts, sponsorships etc. There was a cash balance of £31m in the 15/16 accounts. Wages will have jumped significantly since the title win, but are still "only" likely to be around the £100m mark. Our turnover last year was probably £230-£240m. We could do with trimming some fat from the squad, and I'm sure we will do. But I don't think it's a case of needing the money. Not this season anyway.

Release a website statement? Generally it's considered poor form to release such details in public. As it comes at the detriment to the next transfer deal. Say Roma want player x, if the selling club knows they have just bid an amount for Mahrez they know they have at least that amount of money to spend.

Lets be brutally honest, it is unlikely we will see that sort of money again and we defiantly won't be seeing that 70m again this season unless the player have another stormer and make the top 4. It's a tough situation really as its hard to judge the future however and in reality that 200m aint coming in every season and we have the opportunity to sell two players we paid 1m for for £35m+ each... surely one will go

I'm not factoring that money into it other than this season. A similar league finish this year and similar turn over will still see us get around £150m. That's enough to cover costs moving forward, yeah I wouldn't be expecting a load of £20/£25m signings like we have been doing though. We don't need to sell, whether they think they can buy players for less that offer as much. Then that's a football decision. But I don't think there is any pressure financially to make that decision.
