Fully expect to see Arsenal put in a bid for him at some point after Fridays's game as there has been no point for them to do it any sooner

If Mahrez single-handedly dismantled them on Friday, to give us a win, then I would imagine that Wenger would very much rue not having taken him off us before the game.

Like others on here, I expect Wenger to indulge in mind games with him just before the game.

Just say mahrez wont be starting due to an injury picked up in training. Then before the game starts  toss him in starting lineup lol

Roma chief Monchi still hopeful of signing Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez: 'I'm optimistic, we are doing everything possible to get the player'

  • Riyad Mahrez has made it clear that he wants to move away from Leicester City
  • Roma have made two offers for the Algerian so far - both of which were rejected
  • Leicester are holding out for bids close to their £50m valuation for the Algerian
  • The Italian side's director, Monchi, is still confident of agreeing deal for winger

Riyad Mahrez could still quit Leicester City for Roma this summer, according to the Italian side's sporting director Monchi.

The Foxes maintain the Algerian is not for sale and recently rejected a £32million offer from the Italian side, who continue to chase the winger.

But last week, Mahrez reiterated his desire to leave Leicester ahead of the new Premier League season, which gets underway this Friday night.

Speaking at the unveiling of another new signing, Gregoire Defrel, Monchi said: 'I'm optimistic in life, by nature. Roma are doing everything possible to get the player.

'I am happy with the effort the club is making to take him. It is close to the limit. I do not think the club has often bid over €30m.

'If my memory does not deceive me, the latest offer would be the club's most expensive purchase in our history.

'We are, therefore, engaged and expect an answer. But it is true that we are working on other solutions.'

I think Mahrez will have a stinker vs arsenal it'll all be too much for him, playing against the team who he wants to pay for, the team want him, he'll be so confused.

He doesn't give a crap about Arsenal. The only team he truly wants to play for is Barcelona. Arsenal are just way to get more European football

Monchi is on something recreational.  I would hope this T***er has been blocked on Rudder's Whatsapp.  Roma can be scrubbed out from this circus.

David Amoyal is the best ITK for Italian Football. This has legs, hopefully we're holding out for €45m not €40m though as mentioned. I reckon Mahrez's agent used Inter to spike Roma into uplifting the offer.

If we're willing to shed 20-25% of our asking price then we're ****ing fools.

£50m or no deal.

You'd also think Arsenal's problems getting Lemar over the line, would put pressure on Wenger to bid? I just hope we have a very good replacement already lined up  (who can also play ACM as well as wing) if he does leave.

You'd hope so! Surely our stat men have spotted what we'd need to replace, in terms of assists, goals, key passes etc, and have someone lined up, to replace. Whether that be on the wing or linking the striker to the CM.

When Coutinho is being valued at £100m then Mahrez is a bargain at £50m.

I would love the club to simply not entertain anything below £50m. We're not willing sellers, we're only selling because Mahrez wants to leave. He also has three years left on his contract, we should be in no rush to offer a cut price deal.
