Due to Neymar leaving Barca, Mahrez will go.

 

if Barca buy Lemar, Arsenal will come for Mahrez. Monaco may also come for Mahrez.

 

If Barca Buy Courtinho, Liverpool might come for Mahrez.

 

Barca may even come in for Mahrez!

It sounds there like there isnt such a dispute and he and the owners are expecting a big enough offer to come in.

And if it doesnt, sounds like Mahrez accepts that the offer needs to be big enough for them to let him go.

....if the translation hasnt skewed the meaning too much

You need £50m to buy Sigurdsson.

 

We have every right to hold out for £50m, we're only selling him because he wants to go not because we want to sell. Roma are completely wasting their time with these offers. Their original £20m offer was embarrassing, they showed themselves up.

His previous contract didn't have a release clause either. I don't see how they would've agreed to adding a release clause when they renewed his contract with a far better salary after the tile winning season.

Spot on ! If anyone has had to negotiate any sort of commercial deal with an Italian company this seems to be standard tactics ..... We told them politely to feck off.  Pleased to see management doing the same here. Keep it up! The more this transfer window develops the more expensive players are becoming ... I'm thinking £60M is the new £50M.

This needs closure ASAP stay or go but if he does stay then he needs to show why we value him at £50m plus and keep his rattle in his pram and play his socks off for a big move, as I feel his performances last season severely damaged his reputation when some said he was sulking !!

I want him to stay, but if he is going, he needs to go ahead and go now.... we need to sort out how we are going to play and who will play where and how we will cope without him... all this will he wont he isnt good for us because whilst he is here we will of course play him- he's just that good but we need to learn to play without him and ideally, away to Arsenal would not be the game to find out.

Sell to Roma now for £31.2M or wait until towards the end of window and get £50M. Don't have to play him but I'd suggest he would play out of his skin for a couple of games to secure the move.

Ideally we would have closure ASAP, but that won't happen because: a) No club is going to come in with an offer of £50m+ if they think there's a chance they can get him more cheaply; b) the club shows no signs of letting Mahrez go on the cheap; and c) Mahrez clearly wants to leave and is not going to commit his future to us while there's still a chance he might get the move he wants.


None of the three elements of this equation are likely to change until at least the end of August.

I get what you are saying , im just thinking of the gaping hole left in the squad after he has gone.... who's going to fill it?  and im sure we are working on a replacement... but thats not my point.... you dont get time to adjust in the prem... the prem is not that forgiving...

If he ends up going in the next week or two we need to work with what we've got, that means giving Gray more game time, maybe Lawrence etc... and we need to hope the club has a transfer target in mind in the event of Mahrez going

Understand but the extra £20M or so we get from waiting is valuable financial ammo for a replacement and tbh the owners can go out and get the best replacement we can and not care whether Mahrez is still here come 1/9. He will go in the next window. I think all the cards are in the hands of the club and this is a game of poker. I'm happy for Top to be Lady Gaga!!!!!!!!!!!

Could we please end this "sulking" myth as well as the "downing tools" bullcrap once and for all? He was crap most of the time like the rest of the team. Jesus.
